Out of 280 entries in the map design contest the overall winner selected by the 13 judges was a map called “Patent Pending”. A 30-minute level of intermediate difficulty with four chambers set in the destroyed Aperture Science facilities. Taking a close second place was “Infinifling” pitting the player directly into a chamber filled with redirections. With an honourable mention of the “Edifice” map design due to the results being so close. Ubuntu has been loaded on to the Tab without replacing the Android OS and runs in the background, "chrooted" or like a virtual machine. One of the problems with Android even though it is based on Linux you cant actually run any native Linux programs on Android. The new ’Tabuntu’ device as it has now been dubbed gets around this and will now allow you to run native Linux programs on your Android tablet without the need to first remove the Android OS. As you can see from the photos below, this concept design features a larger wider touchscreen display, something that has been rumored for a while, and also instead of the glass back on the iPhone 4, this has been replaced with an aluminum back cover similar to the iPad 2. Xtreamer Prodigy Updated With New 3D Streaming Feature Posted: 29 Jun 2011 05:31 AM PDT This week Xtreamer has rolled out new updates to its Prodigy media streamer in the form of a revamp which now enables the device to stream 3D over HDMI 1.4, which Xtreamer claims makes it the first full HD Media Player with 3D support below €300. The Prodigy’s internal hardware has also received upgrades and is now equipped with a 750MHz processor capable of running Android 2.2 together with support for USB 3.0 connectivity. A new dual boot feature to take advantage of the new CPU and allow Android 2.2 to run is currently under development and is hope to be released later this year.

World of Fourcraft : New York City Becomes Real Life Risk Game Board Posted: 29 Jun 2011 03:21 AM PDT A new digital/GPS checkin game has been created using FourSquare and Risk, (the board game that requires you to capture areas of land to conquer the world) style rules which have now combined to create a digital version of Risk using New York City as the gaming board. The new World of Fourcraft game use a combination of Foursquare and Google Maps APIs to split New York City into gaming area which have to be captured by teams of players. You can decide which team you join by swearing allegiance to one of New York City's five boroughs. The game then calculates which faction owns which neighbourhood by using the number of gamers who have checked into it from each team within the zones. Silver-Inked Rollerball Pen Enables You To Draw Working Circuits Posted: 29 Jun 2011 02:01 AM PDT A new silver-inked pen has been developed by engineers at the University of Illinois which allows you to literally draw electrical circuits and interconnects on to paper, wood and other materials. The pens ink is made from a solution of real silver and once a circuit is draw the ink will then dry to create a conductive silver pathway similar to paper mounted wires. The pathways retaining their conductivity, even if the paper or material use to write on is folded or bent, and have already been used to create flexible LED displays on paper, conductive text and three-dimensional radio-frequency antennas. Other changes to the Google homepage include a smaller logo, and some of the links have now been moved to the bottom of the page, and it looks like Google has a few more changes planned for Google.com over the coming months. Google’s New Swiffy Converts Flash Files Into HTML5 Posted: 29 Jun 2011 12:59 AM PDT Google has unveiled a new service which allows you to convert Flash SWF files into HTML5 enabling you to reuse Flash content on devices that may not fully support Flash play back. The new Google service called Swiffy, has been designed and developed by Google engineer Pieter Senster to convert Flash to HTML5 while he was working at Google’s mobile advertising team, researching ways to display Flash animations on devices that didn’t support Flash. RIM Cancels 10 Inch BlackBerry Playbook, Working On New Superphone Instead? Sunglasses are Made from Human Hair Posted: 28 Jun 2011 12:14 PM PDT These sunglasses may be the grossest sunshades I have ever heard of. They things are made from a mixture of some sort of resin and actual human hair. I assume the hair is the sort that was hacked off at a barbershop and then put inside the resin to achieve the design. I will say that the glasses look pretty cool and if I didn't know hair was inside they might be ok to wear.
