Music publishers caught faking billions of YouTube video views

Posted: 30 Dec 2012 07:58 AM PST

It’s funny how music publishers are determined to stamp out piracy through lawsuits, pushing hard for new laws, and advertising campaigns to highlight how bad piracy is and then they get caught breaking the law themselves. When it comes to bolstering revenue from YouTube videos, they don't mind breaking the rules and generating billions of fake views.

Netflix to introduce social features in 2013

Posted: 28 Dec 2012 01:58 AM PST

netflix-logoComing just days after a bill passed through the Senate that removes previous restrictions that prevented companies from sharing customer video rental history, a Netflix spokesperson now confirms that they "plan to introduce social features" for US customers sometime in 2013. So as soon as the President signs the bill, Netflix will roll out the new features.

You probably already know that Netflix already allows non-US customers to post what they're watching on Facebook, the same way they can share music they're listening to or articles they're reading. But not in the U.S. That is currently illegal thanks to provisions in the Video Privacy Protection Act.

The new bill amends things so that users can share what they are watching. Netflix wants it’s users to have more social features and soon they will.

Diablo 3′s Team Deathmatch is not coming out in its current form, according to Diablo 3 Lead Designer Jay Wilson. The anticipated game mode is technically finished, but simply not providing the level of long term engagement Blizzard was hoping for. “Simply fighting each other with no other objectives or choices to make gets old relatively quickly. We’ve brought a lot of people in to try out Team Deathmatch and, while some found it entertaining, most of our testers didn’t feel like it was something they’d want to do beyond a few hours,” said Wilson.
