Google Fiber Service Rolls out to More Neighborhoods in Kansas City

I continue to be insanely jealous of the fast fiber optic Internet speeds that subscribers to Google Fiber in Kansas City are able to get. Served areas can get both Internet service and TV service along with some of the fastest Internet connectivity in the country. Even within Kansas City, Google was very selective with what neighborhoods were allowed to subscribe to Google Fiber.

London Fire Brigade Launching 999 Emergency Twitter Feed

The London Fire Brigades are planning on launching the world's first 999 emergency Twitter feed to monitor fires in the city. This should help save lives and make them more efficient. The news comes after LFB's recent publication of its Integrated Risk Management Plan which details how the fire and rescue service in London will operate over the next few years.

SpongeBob Game Removed From The App Store

The Center for Digital Democracy has a problem with Spongebob, so Nickelodeon has removed its SpongeBob Diner Dash from Apple's App Store on Monday. The Center for Digital Democracy claims that the SpongeBob app violates children's online privacy law by collecting email addresses from its young players, and other information, without obtaining permission from their parents.

Anyone interested in the rise of Mojang the creators or Minecraft, might be interested to learn that a new documentary created by 2 Player Productions, will premiere on Saturday, December 22nd 2012.

The new Minecraft: The Story of Mojang documentary will be available on Xbox Live for Gold members in the US, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, France, Finland and Sweden, and was funded by a Kickstarter project raising $210,000.

Samsung Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note Android Jelly Bean Update Coming In January

It would appear that Samsung will be releasing the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S II and the original Samsung Galaxy Note early next year.

The update for both devices will be available in January 2013, and the two devices will apparently skip the Android 4.1.1 update and go direct to Jelly Bean 4.1.2.

Samsung Dropping Apple Patent Lawsuits In Europe

Samsung has announced that it is dropping its patent lawsuits against Apple in Europe, Samsung was previously suing Apple for standards-essential patent infringement, in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and France.

RIM To Announce BlackBerry 10 Smartphones January 30th

RIM previously announced that they would launch BlackBerry 10 on the 30th of January, the also said that their new BlackBerry 10 smartphones would be available in stores a few days after the BlackBerry 10 launch.

Now they have given an official date on when the two new BlackBerry 10 smartphones will be unveiled, as we suspected the two handsets will be launch on the same day as BlackBerry 10 on the 30th of January 2013.

Apple released their new Apple Maps application with the launch of iOS 6, the application replaced Google Maps, and has come under quite a bit of criticism since it was launched, Apple have said that they are working on improving the app.

According to a recent report, Apple are apparently in talks with Foursquare to integrate local services into Apple Maps, and the talks are apparently in the early stages at the moment.

Project Godus Prototype Video Unveiled By Molyneux’s 22cans (video)

Huawei Ascend W1 And D2 To Launch At CES 2013

We have already seen some leaked photos of the Huwei Ascend W1, and now it would appear that Huawei will be launching the device along with another smartphone, the Ascend D2 which is an Android device at CES in January of next year.

The news comes from Huawei’s Richard Yu announced the new on Weibo, and the Ascend D2 will come with a five inch display with a 1080p resolution plus a quad core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

HTC M7 Android Smartphone Specifications Leaked

Details have been leaked on the successor to HTC’s One X smartphone, the device will be called the HTC M7 and it will feature a 4.7 inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and it will come with Android Jelly Bean.

The HTC M7 will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, clocked at 1.7GHz, and the handset will also feature 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built in storage.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Coming To Sony’s 2012 Xperia Smartphones In February

Sony has revealed some more details on when it will be releasing the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to its 2012 Xperia smartphones, the update will arrive in February 2013.

Some devices will get the update in February, which include the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V beginning and February and continuing in March, so we presume this update will be rolled out in stages.

Samsung’s new Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Samsung ATIV S recently went on sale in the UK, and now we have an unboxing video of the device which gives us a look at this new Windows Phone smartphone.

The Samsung ATIV S is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz processor and it features a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter Marred By Frontier Developments Lays Offs

Frontier Developments, the studio behind Kinect Star Wars the Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter has announced it’s laying off fourteen people just as the total for the fundraising campaign hit £780k. With 18 days to go, the £1.25 million target seems well within reach, but regardless of the amount brought in, the reason cited for the layoffs is a ”changing mix of skills requirements”.
