There have been several stories lately about smartphones catching fire. Now it looks like Samsung's Galaxy S4 has joined the club. No one was harmed in this case, but an apartment was burnt down. A Mr. Du from Hong Kong was playing a game on his Galaxy S4 when it suddenly exploded into flames. So he panicked and threw the phone across the room where it landed under the sofa, which of course caught fire and burnt the apartment down.

BlackBerry is continuing the global roll out of their latest BlackBerry 10 smartphone, the BlackBerry Q5, the handset is now available in Canada from a number of carriers.

The BlackBerry Q5 comes with BlackBerry 10 and it features a 3.1 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels, plus a full QWERTY keyboard, it also features front and rear facing cameras.

Microsoft recently dropped the price of their Surface RT Windows tablet, the tablet is now available for $349 for the entry level model. It would appear that the price drop on the Surface RT may finally be helping Microsoft to sell their surface tablet.

According to a recent report the Microsoft Surface RT tablet is now sold out at Walmart in the US, and apparently it will be at least a week before new stock of the Surface RT tablet is available at Walmart.

Android Tablet Shippments Up To 67 Percent

According to a recent report by Strategy Analytics, tablets running Google’s Android platform are now up to 67 percent of the tablet market, up from 51.4 percent for the same quarter in 2012.

In second place is Apple with their iOS platform and a 28.3 percent share of the market, which is down from 47.2 percent for the same time in 2012.

iZettle Drops Transaction Fees For Small UK Businesses Processing Over £2,000 A Month

iZettle has this week announced that it will be dropping transaction fees for small UK businesses at a processing over £2000 in orders a month, as well as cutting its standard 2.75% transaction fee to as little as 1.5% for other users.

The new iZettle rate reductions applies to all cards and the savings are automatically calculated by the iZettle system and any transactions which need to be refunded to businesses are processed and returned to at the end of every month.

Asus Intends To Enter US Smartphone Market In 2014

It looks like Asus may have some big plans for the US smartphone market in 2014. According to a recent report by All Things D, Asus have been talking to the major US carriers and building relationships with them and other retailers.

Asus is expecting to launch some new smartphones in the US in 2014, although as yet they have not revealed any details on particular devices, we suspect we will see a couple of new Android smartphones for the US.

Assassin’s Creed 4 PlayStation Exclusive Levels Revealed

Ubisoft has today revealed more information about the new Assassin’s Creed 4 levels that will be exclusive to PlayStation gamers and will feature an older Aveline de Grandpré, the heroine of last year’s PlayStation Vita title Assassin’s Creed: Liberation.

The new PlayStation exclusive Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black Flag levels have been written by that game’s lead story writer Jill Murray and will consist of an hour-long “short story” divided into three bonus missions.

HTC Predicts A Loss For Quarter 3

HTC has been having some financial trouble over the last few quarters, although with the new HTC One, the company was probably expecting things to pick up.

Now it would appear that HTC may make a loss for quarter three of 2013, and the company has issued some new guidance to investors, and the company is expecting a loss of between 0 percent and -8 percent for quarter three.

New Apple TV Beta Adds iTunes Music Purchases

Apple released the latest Apple TV beta software yesterday, and it looks like it will come with some new features, one of those will be the ability to purchase music from iTunes direct on your Apple TV.

Yandex Offer Low Priced Cloud Storage At $30 A Month For 1TB

Russia’s predominant search engine Yandex has this week suggested the prices of its cloud storage service to provide more competition against the likes of Dropbox and Google Drive.

Yandex have now adjusted their cloud storage prices to reflect the following: 10GB for $1 per month or $10 per year, 100GB for $5 or $50 a year and 1TB for $30 or $300 a year.
