Apple Changing Chip Manufacturer?

Posted: 29 Jun 2013 04:28 AM PDT

Did you know Apple manufactures its chips through Samsung? (No not potato chips – computer chips.) I had no idea.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple won't be paying one of its biggest competitors for much longer. Apparently the company signed a deal with TSMC earlier in June that would result in the company taking over some of Apple's chip manufacturing by 2014.

Yahoo!’s Summer Cleaning

Posted: 29 Jun 2013 04:26 AM PDT

It's no secret that Yahoo! is in a serious need of company-wide renovations and restructuring. While its recent acquisitions have kept it in the news recently, the inevitable has finally arrived. Yahoo! has announced that it will be closing twelve properties between June 28th and September 28th.

These closings will likely pave the way for newer properties and help alleviate the amount of money Yahoo! is currently bleeding. You can expect Yahoo! to announce new properties and services in the coming months that will replace the twelve currently being put out to pasture.

The PS4 was Originally $499?

To many of us, when Sony announced that the PS4 would cost $399, it was a sign that the company learned its lesson with the PS3's horrendous launch. While the company has initially received critical acclaim for its upcoming price-point, that price came at cost.

Apparently, the console was originally slated to cost $499, just like the Xbox One. But at the last minute, just months before E3, Sony decided to cut the Playstation Eye, it's version of the Kinect, from the console in order to drop the price by $100.

Facebook Implements New Ad Policy

Posted: 29 Jun 2013 04:19 AM PDT

Nobody likes ads, but they're a large part of the internet that isn't ever going to go away. Ads bring in too much money for companies not to use them to market every product known to man. However, not all ads are created equal – at least that's what Facebook believes. On Monday, Facebook will implement a review process aimed at alleviating, possibly eliminating altogether, objectionable ad material from the site.

All violent, lewd, and otherwise graphic ad content is on its way out. By the end of next week, Facebook intends to have all objectionable ads off the site. The process for reviewing ads will be manual at first, but you can expected an automated process to be implemented after the majority of current ads have been reviewed and Facebook finds a happy medium of ad standards to hold groups and Pages to.

More Radical Changes By Microsoft

Posted: 29 Jun 2013 04:13 AM PDT

Even after announcing a 180 degree turn on its upcoming used gaming policies, Xbox has continued to fall behind in popularity with both gamers and developers due to Microsoft's – arguably greedy – business practices. In an effort to appease developers and keep up, Microsoft has decided to stop charging developers to update their games.

Previously, developers had to pay tens of thousands of dollars to update/patch their games post launch on Xbox. This has pushed many developers more towards Sony, since the Playstation 3, and upcoming PS4, don't charge developers to patch their games – or at least don't charge nearly as much.
