Posted: 09 Jun 2013 11:00 AM PDT Yes, I'm aware of the PRISM fiasco going on right now, but like many other 20-something year olds, I just don't care. E3 starts tomorrow and it's a new console generation year, so expect a ton of gaming related news stories during the next week. For those who don't know, E3, which stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo, is the biggest annually held gaming convention in the world. Companies work incredibly hard to put together the best E3 presentations they can because it can often be a make or break moment for a game's sales. Games sell almost solely based on the hype they generate prior to launch. That hype practically begins and ends at E3. Posted: 09 Jun 2013 10:56 AM PDT So this whole PRISM fiasco has been all over the technological news airways now for a couple days, and I honestly don't quite understand what everyone's up in arms about. I find it funny people seem to believe online privacy is really a thing. What's even more laughable is that people actually seem genuinely surprised to find out that the government has been electronically snooping. In an effort to squash overblown rumors about what PRISM was actually up to, the NSA has declassified documentation pertaining to PRISM's objectives and on-goings. Apparently select members of Congress were briefed on the project's status 13 times since 2009. These meetings didn't discuss specifics, but told said Congress members just how much digital information the government was capable of obtaining. Redbox’s Concern for Gaming’s Future Posted: 09 Jun 2013 10:53 AM PDT Not all of us can afford to pay $60 for every 5-10 hour long video game we want to play. (The ever diminishing amount of playtime is appallingly, but not at point here.) Instead of buying these games outright, many of us either wait for them to drop in price and buy used, or rent them from places like Redbox for $2 a night. However, that might not be so easy to accomplish in the near future. There are a lot of concerns about whether or not used games are even going to be playable on the Xbox One and PS4. Redbox has decided to take a little more proactive approach to the issue by creating GamingFuture.net. More Xbox One Business Model Details Posted: 09 Jun 2013 10:47 AM PDT The internet has been abuzz about the Xbox One's business model since its first unveiling not too long ago. Microsoft has since been trying to clear up the details and continues to release new information to alleviate tension even days before E3.
