3D RoboHand for Children

Posted: 01 Jun 2013 04:09 AM PDT

Not long ago we reported about the successful creation of 3D printed guns. Arguably, said information could be used to make the claim that 3D printers are more harmful than they're worth. Today I come to you with the other side of the story.

3D printers have been used successfully to create robotic hands for unfortunate people and children who have lost or were born without a hand and/or fingers.

The Galaxy S4 Slim

Posted: 01 Jun 2013 04:04 AM PDT

It's become clock work for the iPhone to come out with a new version and then a slim version of that new version a bit later, but now Samsung's following in its footsteps. On Thursday the company announced that it would be launching an improved mini version of its wildly successful Galaxy S4.

The smaller S4 will offer a 4.3-inch display that's larger than the iPhone 5's 4-inch, and it'll be almost .2 ounces lighter. For those keeping score, that's a good bit smaller than the S4's current 5-inch screen.

The Possibilities of the Kinect 2

Posted: 01 Jun 2013 04:01 AM PDT

If you've been following the information flow coming from Microsoft during the last couple of weeks about the Xbox One, then you're probably at least aware that the Kinect will be a requirement with the system. Each system will come with a new version of the Kinect that will be required in order to use the system.

The new Kinect will have a larger field of vision and be much more precise than the old Kinect ever was due to Microsoft's self-proclaimed "Time of Flight" technology. To put it simply, the Kinect 2.0 may very well be able to track the individual movements of fingers, toes and other minute actions.

Humans on Mars?

Posted: 01 Jun 2013 03:57 AM PDT

Within 20 years, it might not be science fiction anymore. Private space companies and NASA have already announced that they plan to send people to Mars – NASA even said it plans to complete its objective by the 2030s!

However, it takes a lot to accomplish such a feat – and incredible people too. The longest time anyone's ever spent in space at one time is 438 days. A trip to Mars would require multiple years just to get there. Nevermind the logistics behind creating sustainable food, water and machinery – NASA has currently given psychologists at Michigan State University $1.3 million to develop psychological sensors that can detect and track an astronaut's psychological health.
