Artificial spleen to treat bloodstream infections: Sepsis therapeutic device under development

Scientists are developing blood-cleansing technology. The device will be used to treat bloodstream infections that are the leading cause of death in critically ill patients and soldiers injured in combat. To rapidly cleanse the blood of pathogens, the patient's blood is mixed with magnetic nanobeads coated with a genetically engineered version of a human blood 'opsonin' protein that binds to a wide variety of bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites, and toxins.

Samsung Galaxy S4 For Sprint And MetroPCS Appears At The FCC

It looks like the first US versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 have received their approval from the FCC, as the guys over at Engadget have spotted the Sprint and MetroPCS versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 5 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and it features Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the UK version of the handset is powered by a quad core 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

Google Nexus 4 Lands In Brazil

The Google Nexus 4 is now available in Brazil, the handset is being sold unlocked by a number of retailers which include Fast Shop and Ponto Frio in Brazil, and the device retails for $1,699 which works out at around $844, this is quite a bit more than the device is being sold for in the US play store.

The Google Nexus 4 features Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the device features a 4.7 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels and 320ppi.

New 8 inch Full HD Samsung Galaxy tablet coming

Samsung has already announced an 8 inch tablet, the Galaxy Note 8.0. However, it features a classic 1280 x 800 screen resolution, which means it's not on par with Apple's upcoming iPad Mini (it should have a 7.9 inch Retina Display – 2048 x 1536 pixels). Total War: Arena Bringing F2P Large Scale Historical Battles

The long running and spectacularly successful Total War series of RTS games will be getting an F2P incarnation. Not much is known about the game at this point, apart from its obvious progenitor and that it will most likely involve insane amounts of historically accurate soldiers murdering each other.

The original X-Com was the game that launched a thousand game industry careers. While it certainly sold well for the time and made a solid amount of money, its real success is being cited among early influences by a large number of today’s developers. All of which makes the thought that it was once almost cancelled and the second time cancelled for real a bit terrifying.
