Apple Changes In App Subscritption Rules Posted: 09 Jun 2011 04:47 AM PDT When Apple launched its new publishing platform for newspapers and magazines, the rules that went along with it meant that content providers would have to offer to sell the content through Apple as well, of which Apple would take a 30 percent cut. Many newspapers and magazines were against these rules, and we even saw companies like the Financial Times launch their own iPad friendly web apps in attempt to get past Apple’s rules. Now it seems Apple has had a change of heart, and now applications that offer content outside of Apple’s subscription service, will be able to allow access to that content as long as they don’t have a buy button that would let users purchase content from an external store. Apple responded to Lodsys a while back, and basically told them that Apple was responsible for the in app purchases and not the developers, but this hasn’t stopped Lodsys going after the developers, as the company are claiming that Apple’s agreement with them does not cover the individual developers. The problems are only limited to the 120GB Force Series 3 version, with the smaller 60GB and larger 240GB unaffected. The revised 120GB drive will need both firmware and hardware changes, and Corsair have advised that the ‘fixed’ drives are already on their way to retailers. There is literally not one suitably epic-feeling RPG that didn’t have an eye-meltingly awesome trailer before release. Just try and name one. See? Doesn’t exist. And while a fairly nice showcase for the artwork, it’s that impression that it’s just going through the motions that has us worried. June 22 will see both versions, 16GB and 32GB out in the open, at least according to Synnex, whose website leaked the information. The webOS-sporting tablet will be going for either $499.99 or $599.99, the cost of admission if you’re willing to help a struggling mobile OS out in the face of some pretty overwhelming odds.
