AOC e2752Vh 27-inch Computer Display Now Shipping

AOC has announced that it is now shipping its 27-inch high-definition LED monitor for PC gaming and home theater. The monitor is called the e2752vh and has a 27-inch display with a pair integrated 2.5 W speakers for sound. The display promises a two millisecond response time for smooth and clear gaming action.

I think we can all be honest in the fact that some of our Facebook friends post entirely too many pictures of their kids. Each time you log on you may not want to see new close-up pictures of that new born, questionably attractive baby that your friend from high school recently had. If you’re on Chrome there’s a new plug-in that will take all those baby pictures and replace them with photos of something else.

Loch Ness monster caught on camera?

Nessie, the Loch Ness monster has been the subject of much debate over the years. Does it exist or not? Is it a leftover dinosaur that grew so large that it can’t leave the Loch? Monster hunters have been searching for these answers, but it has been a long time since Nessie showed up in a good photo.

Lego Curiosity Mars Rover (video)

Over the weekend the NASA Curiosity Mars Rover made a successful landing on the surface of Mars and is now poised to start its in-depth exploration of the Red Planet.

As part of the Build the Future in Space event at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, master Lego builders Doug Moran and Will Gorman have created an awesome Lego Mindstorm version of the Mars Curiosity Rover, which you can view in the videos after the jump.

HTC Proto Android Smartphone Details Revealed

It looks like HTC may have another new Android smartphone in the works, the device is codenamed the HTC Proto and is rumored to be a new version of the HTC One V.

According t0 the guys over at The Verge, the HTC Proto will come with a 4 inch WVGA SLCD display, which is slightly larger than the 3.7 inch display on the original HTC One V.

Doom 4 Game Will Support The Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset Currently On Kickstarter

Gamers who thought the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset we featured here on Geeky Gadgets last week is something they would like to add to their gaming rig. Might be pleased to know that Doom 4 will be supported by the new Oculus Rift headset.

Oculus Rift is currently over on the Kickstarter website looking to make the jump from concept into the hands of developers, and has already raised over $1.3 million with 25 days still to go.

Sony Xperia P Android 4.0 ICS Update Coming 19-25th August

It looks like another Sony Xperia smartphone will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update later this month, the Sony Xperia P, the news was posted on Facebook by Sony Mobile India, with a date of the 19th to the 25th of August

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will bring a range of new features to the Sony Xperia P, although it isn’t clear as yet whether this date for the update is for the global roll out or just for India.

Lenovo Smart Tab II Tablet Appears At The FCC

It looks like Lenovo is getting ready to launch a new tablet, as a new yet to be announced Smart Tab II tablet has turned up at the FCC, and the device is reported to come with a 10 inch touchscreen display.

Unfortunately we do not have very many other details about the device, but it looks like it may become available with mobile carrier Vodafone in the UK and the device comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G.

Tactus Creates Physical 3D Buttons On Flat Touch-Screens (video)

Users who find touch-screens a little awkward to use and would prefer a more physical keyboard for touch recognition on their device, might be interested in a new technology under development by California based Tactus Technology.

Samsung Teases Galaxy Note 10.1 For 15th August Event

We heard earlier today that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 would be available globally by the end of August, and now it looks like we should get some actual launch dates soon.

Samsung is holding a special press event on the 15th of August, and it has just sent out some invites which are teasing the new Galaxy Note 10.1, so we suspect it will officially launch on the 15th of August.

This week Google has updated their PageSpeed web service which has been developed and created to automatically speed up the loading of your web pages, making surfing even more pleasurable.

Google PageSpeed first launch in its beta form a year ago, and the idea behind it is that it collects content from servers then rewrites the pages by applying the best web practices for performance and then delivers them to end users via Google’s servers across the globe, providing a faster surfing experience when possible.

With the recent release of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean we have been waiting to here when the various updates would be released for a number of devices, and now the guys over at Sammobile have obtained some information on some of Samsung’s Galaxy devices.

Valve Source Filmmaker Files May Reveal New Valve Source 2 Game Engine (Rumour)

Classic Shooter Alien Breed Arrives On iOS

Gamers who enjoyed playing the original Alien Breed game first launched back in 1991, might be pleased to learn that a new touch-screen version of the game has now arrived in the Apple iTunes Store, re-kindling the action of the original to celebrate its 21st Anniversary.

HP TouchPad Gets Unofficial CynaogenMod 10 Port (Video)

The CynogenMod team are working on CynogenMod 10 which is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, although it has yet to be released as a final build, and now another device ha received an unofficial CynogenMod 10 port.

The latest device to get a port of CyanogenMod 10 is the HP TouchPad, which is no longer in production and came with webOS as its OS, have a look at the video of it in action below.

Lacie has this week unveiled its updated range of USB 3.0 external hard drives its developed which support the latest Ivy Bridge processors of Apple’s new MacBook systems.

HTC To Launch 5 Inch Android Smartphone In September (Rumor)

According to a recent report by Digitimes, HTC is working on a new smartphone with a larger display which is rumored to be launched next month, and the device is rumored to feature a 5 inch touchscreen display.

We recently heard that LG are also working on a new 5 inch smartphone, and now it looks like HTC are the latest company to go after Samsung’s Galaxy Note device, a new version with a 5.5 inch display is expected to be announced by Samsung later this month.

Pear Bluetooth Adapter Removed From Kickstarter

Backers of the awesome Pear Bluetooth adapter which we featured here on Geeky Gadgets last month, might be wondering what has happened to the Kickstarter project, which was removed from the Kickstarter site without warning.

Well its now been discovered that the project was removed without explanation from Kickstrater, due to a business (not Apple or iCarly) saying that the PearWithPear logo infringed on their trademark.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Launches Globally This Month

Last week we saw the new Samsung Galaxy Note appear online for pre-order at one retailer, and now Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Note 10.1 will go on sale globally by the end of August.

Unfortunately Samsung did still not give specific launch dates for each country, although we suspect that we will get some details over the next week of when the devices will launch in the US and Europe.

BLU Products Vivo 4.3 Dual Sim AMOLED Android Smartphone Unveiled

BLU Products has taken the wraps of their new Vivo 4.3 Android smartphone, which they claim is the world first dual-SIM smartphone with Super AMOLED Plus screen.

The Vivo 4.3 has no hardware buttons on the front of the device to provide a sleak design with a Super AMOLED Plus 4.3″ display, and is powered by a MediaTek MT6577 dual core 1GHz Cortex A9 CPU, and is capable of running Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system.

Samsung has announced their latest Android smartphone, this one is headed to budget mobile carrier Metro PCS, the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G, which will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Sony Xperia LT30 To Launch As Sony Xperia T

We recently heard about a new Android smartphone from Sony, the Xperia LT30 ‘Mint‘, which we are expecting to be launched at IFA later this month, and now it would appear that the handset will launch as the Sony Xperia T.

The guys over at Phandroid discovered that the device has now received its DLNA certification and it will launch as the Sony Xperia T when it is unveiled later this month.

Adafruit Raspberry Pi Occidentalis v0.1Custom Linux Distro Introduced

This week Adafruit has introduced its own custom created Linux distro for Raspberry Pi in the form of the new "Occidentalis v0.1", and is  derived from Raspbian Wheezy.

The name has come from a play on the Latin term for black raspberry "Rubus occidentalis", and the Luinx distro has been created with maximum hackability in mind.

eBay Testing New Same Day Delivery Service Called eBay Now

eBay is testing a new same day delivery service in San Francisco, and if the trial is successful, eBay intends to roll it out to other cities in the US, eBay Now will let you order an item and have it delivered the same day for a fee of $5.

The service is being tested in an exclusive beta, although anyone can apply to join, and to qualify for the $5 same date service you will need to make a purchase of $25 or more from selected stores.

More Details On The T-Mobile HTC One X+ Revealed

We recently heard about a new version of the HTC One X, which is headed to T-Mobile as the HTC One X+ and now we have some possible specifications for the handset.

According to a new benchmark discovered by TMO News, the HTC One X+ will feature a a quad core 1.7GHz processor, in the form of a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.
