FDA Approves Ingestible Sensor That Communicates with Smartphone App

The FDA has approved an ingestible sensor in the US that has been in use in Europe since 2011. The sensor is called the Ingestion Event Marker and involves a sensor the size of a grain of sand embedded in Intel or other edible item. The sensor is swallowed is powered by stomach acid.

Would it surprise you to hear that more than 60% of the apps in the App Store have never been downloaded? Not even once? That is indeed the case, according to analytical firm Adeven. They even counted the number of flashlight apps and found that Apple iPhone users have 1,899 choices. Christian Henschel, Adeven CEO, says that there are only a “couple of thousand apps” that get downloaded in number from Apple’s app store.

Right on time, since NASA’s Curiosity will attempt it’s landing on August 5th, Mattel has unveiled a Hot Wheels die-cast model of the rover. This 1:64 scale rover will reproduce the machine in all it’s glory.

Far Cry 3 Co-op Mode Walkthrough Trailer (video)

Ubisoft has this week released a new trailer for their upcoming Far Cry 3 game that will be arriving on Xbox 360, PC and PS3 consoles on November 29th 2012 after being delayed from its September launch date.

The new trailer shows more details of the included 4-player co-op campaign within Far Cry 3 and reveals the four different playable characters available within the games co-op mode.

Seedio Combines Multiple iOS Devices To Create One Massive Speaker

A new application called Seedio has arrived on the Apple iTunes App Store which has been created to enable you to combine multiple smartphones together linking to make one massive speaker.

Seedio will support up to 150 devices and works across iOS devices, allowing you to combine both iPad, iPod and iPhone speakers together. But remember you will need a version of Seedio on each device to create a link for the speaker.

New Apple Smart Cover Patent With Embedded Display Revealed

Apple has been granted another patent for a new Smart Cover, although this one is slightly different than Apple’s existing Smart Cover as it features a secondary built in display.

As you can see in the figure below, this new smart cover features a built in flexible display, and it is designed to ‘greatly enhance’ the functionality of the iPad.

Lego master builder Warren Elsmore has created an awesome Lego model of the current London Olympic 2012 Park in all its glory, using a massive 250,000 standard Lego bricks.

The complete Lego London Olympic Park took 300 hours for him and his wife to build from scratch, and the time-lapse video after the jump gives you a glimpse at the work involved with created the awesome Lego model, which weighs in at around 80kg.

RIM BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE Tablet Launches In Canada 9th Of August

We recently heard that RIM would be launching their new BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE tablet before the end of July, and now RIM has just announced that the device will be launched in Canada on the 9th of August.

The BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE will be available in Canada from next Thursday from mobile carriers Bell, Rogers and Telus, the device comes with 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, plus 4G LTE.

Sharp Says They Are Shipping Screens For iPhone 5 This Month

We have been hearing rumors over the last few week that Apple intend to officially announce the new iPhone 5 next month, with a date of the 12th of September tipped for the official announcement.

Now according to a recent report from Reuters, Sharp has said that they will start shipping displays for the next iPhone this month, the news came from Sharp’s president Takashi Okuda at a recent press event.

Nexus Q Pre-orders Start Shipping

Google announced yesterday that they were delaying the launch of their Nexus Q media streamer in order to improve the device, they also announced that anyone who had pre-ordered the device for the $299 price tag would now get the Nexus Q for free.

Now it would appear that the first Nexus Q devices have started shipping out to customers, as a number of people have reported receiving shipping details.

Its is good to see that Rovio Mobile are still updating their original Angry Birds game, as the company has just released a new update for the first version of Angry Birds.

Both the iPhone version of Angry Birds, and the iPad version of Angry Birds HD have received an update today, which brings some new features to the game as well as support for Apple’s new iPad 3 with its Retina display.

Today Facebook have rolled out their new App Center worldwide allowing all Facebook users to now benefit from the social networks online store for desktop and mobile applications.

Android 4.0 ICS Now On Almost 16 Percent Of All Devices

Google has released its latest Android distribution figures, and now Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is on almost 16 percent of all Android devices with a 15.9 percent share, this is up from 10.7 percent last month.

Gingerbread has dropped down from 64 percent distribution to 60.8 percent and Froyo is now on just 15.5 percent of all Android devices, we also get some figures on the new version of Android, 4.1 Jelly Bean.

We have been hearing rumors about the Sony Xperia SL for a while now, the device is expected to be a follow up to the Sony Xperia S, and now it would appear that some renders of the handset have been leaked.

According to the leaked details, the Xperia SL will feature a dual core Snapdragon S3 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, and it looks like it will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Motorola and US Cellular have announced two new Android smartphones, the Motorola Defy XT and the Motorola Electrify XT, both devices will go on sale with US cellular from tomorrow the 3rd of August.

Yesterday we heard that Samsung had tried to submit some evidence in their trial with Apple in the US, after the evidence was turned down, it was then leaked to the press which could end up getting Samsung in trouble.

We heard that Judge Lucy Koh, who is dealing with the press is less than pleased with Samsung for leaking the evidence to the press, and now Apple is seeking sanctions over Samsung’s statement.
