Focus Designs Self Balancing Unicycle Version 2.0 Now Available (video) Posted: 27 Jan 2012 06:07 AM PST Focus Designs have been developing their self-balancing unicycle for some time and are now ready to released a new Version 2.0 which is ready for market and is available to purchase for around $1500. Focus Designs has used seven sensors, gyros and accelerometers to monitor the orientation of the unicycle. Which is then decoded via a processor, by a number of custom algorithms. This data is then feed down to the hub-mounted motor which then either speeds up or slows down to maintain axial forwards/backwards balance. The 50-Dollar Follow Focus as its called has been designed by Wiley Davis, and has already been pledged nearly $70,000 with still 17 days to go. Infinity Ward Fixing MW3 Elite DLC Maps Locked To Single Account Posted: 27 Jan 2012 05:05 AM PST Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360 gamers who are already aware of the issue with the new Elite DLC maps being locked to one account on Xbox Live. Will be pleased to learn that Infinity Ward has issued a statement this morning, saying that they are aware of the problem and are currently working on a fix which they hope to roll out very soon. The map locking issue is a big deal for Xbox 360 users of the game as it violates Microsoft's own Xbox Live terms and conditions. But after a little investigation and discussion it now seems that the locking is probably an honest mistake by Infinity Ward. Google+ is now available to anyone that is old enough to have a Google Account, which is 13+ in most countries. In opening the Google+ doors to younger users Google has also added a few safety features, and has tweaked kits Hangouts service to accommodate the younger users. Now if a younger member joins a Hangout, Google+ will automatically cut off audio and video to the younger user, asking them if they would like to participate or leave. The new Google Earth update has now removed the “patchwork effect” normally seen when viewing images in Google Earth. Google has now replaced the images with a seamless smooth scrolling action. Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata explained that the company has added NFC technology to enable their new gaming console to interact with cards and gaming figurines. Other possibilities for using the new NFC support might even include the ability to make micro-payments directly from your Wii U console, as the NFC hardware included in the Wii U will be compatible with the widely-used FeliCa and MIFARE standards. Apple announced that they had sold a total of 37.04 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2012, although they didn’t provide a breakdown by model, the company sells three different models, the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S. Samsung Posts Q4 Record Profits Of $4.7 Billion On $42 Billion Revenue Posted: 26 Jan 2012 11:29 PM PST Samsung has released its earnings figures for the fourth quarter of 2012, and the company has posted a record profit of 5.3 trillion Won, which works out at around $4.72 billion USD, on gross revenue of 47 trillion Won, which is around $42 billion USD. This is Samsung’s highest ever quarter, and the profits and high revenue have been driven by sales of Samsung’s smartphones which made up around forty percent of Samsung’s overall revenue.
