Weirdly Shaped Pen Bears Mysterious Stamp

Recognize it yet? Nope? The big reveal comes after the jump. Apparently, the pen seen below has quite a story behind it. There’s a Japanese connection for sure, but the trail of clues goes farther and deeper. First, it was initially spied in a Milan design exhibition some time ago. What caught the eye of those in attendance was the small stamp embedded on its bulbous head.

Ah, alarm clocks. Dreadful machines, really. They are the infernal noise that pulls us from the comforting embrace of slumber to join a world of lifeless abstractions. Strange pseudo-philosophical asides aside, seen below is the Chirp. Rather than start some noise and disturb you it vibrates your pillow until you groggily awaken. Don’t worry, because if that doesn’t work it will ring anyway. So much for vibrations.

Seagate Packs Verizon 4G LTE Hotspot Into Portable Battery Powered HDD

Seagate has added a new storage solution to their range today, unveiling their latest creation which combines both a traditional hard disk drive, together with a Verizon 4G LTE modem, capable of creating a handy hotspot, and allows you to download files from the cloud.

The new creation is yet to be officially named and is currently just know as the “4G LTE Mobile Wireless Storage” by Seagate. The internal battery provides enough power to keep the hotspot running for up to 5 hours, and supports 802.11b/g/n.

Samsung Announces 55 Inch Super OLED TV

Samsung has launched what it calls the worlds largest commercialized OLED TV at this years CES, and it features a 55 inch Super OLED display, and offer support for both 2D and 3D content.

The Samsung 55inch Super OLED TV also comes with a built in camera, plus it features Samsung’s Smart Hub built in, which includes a range of apps through Samsung’s TV app store and a web browser.

D-Link Cloud Camera 5000, Wireless Night Or Day Surveillance Solution

D-Link has introduced their new Cloud Camera 5000 at CES this week, which provides a versatile surveillance solution for a home or small office. The Cloud Camera is equipped with pan/tilt capabilities, automatic day/night viewing, remote control, and a microSD slot for local recording if required.

All adjustments to the camera can be made remotely and provide a view area of 340 degrees (170 degrees on each side). The Cloud Camera 5000 can either be set to stream clear live HD video footage at 720p high-definition of up to 30 fps or send the footage to the local microSD for viewing at a later time.

Orange Tahiti 7 Inch Android Honeycomb Tablet Announced

UK mobile carrier Orange already offers a range of Orange branded smartphones, and now the company is launching their first Android tablet, the Orange Tahiti, which looks like it is a re-branded Huawei MediaPad.

The Orange Tahiti features a 7 inch touchscreen display and it will come with Android 3.2 Honeycomb and is powered by a dual core 1.2GHz processor.

Asus Transformer Prime Gets Android 4.0 ICS Update (Video)

Asus recently announced that they would be rolling out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Transformer Prime on the 12th of January 2012, although it would appear that Asus started rolling out the update yesterday,the 9th of January.

Nyko Unveils PS Vita Power Grip Battery Pack, Speaker Stand And Accessories

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX For Verizon Gets Official

As well as announcing the new Motorola Droid 4, Motorola and Verizon have unveiled another new Android smartphone, the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, which is basically a Motorola Droid RAZR with a larger battery.

According to Motorola, the original Droid RAZR was good for around 12 hours of talk time, where as the new Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX qwill give you up to 21 hours of talk time.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Confirmed For Sprint

We heard a rumor recently that Google’s flagship Android smartphone the Samsung Galaxy Nexus would be headed to US mobile carrier Sprint, it is now official as Google has recently confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus will be available with Sprint in the US.

Google made the announcement on Twitter, and they also announced that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus will offer support for Google’s new NFC payment system, Google Wallet, something that the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon doesn’t have.

Samsung Shows Off New Series 9 Notebook At CES 2012

Samsung has launched a new range of its Series 9 notebooks at this years CES, there are two new models in the range, one with a 13 inch display and one with a 15 inch display, and the 15 inch model features a 14 inch chassis.

OnLive Launches Virtual Windows Desktop App For Apple’s iPad

OnLive is well know for its popular cloud based gaming service, but now it would appear that the company has some plans to bring other software to the cloud, as they have just shown off a new application for the iPad that will let you run Windows apps on your iPad.

Apple Releases iOS 5.1 Beta 3 To Developers

Apple has released the latest version of iOS to developers, iOS 5.1 Beta 3, which should mean that we are getting closer to the general release of iOS 5.1 which will hopefully fix the battery problems that a number of iPhone users have been experiencing.

It looks like iOS 5.1 Beta 3 has restored the toggle switch which allows you to turn of and on the 3G cellular data access, and also it comes with a new API that will allow app developers to flag content in their apps that doesn’t need to be backed up.

Unlocked Nokia Lumia 800 Headed To The US

Nokia recently revealed their latest Windows Phone device which is headed to the US, the Nokia Lumia 900, and they also confirmed that they will be selling an unlocked version of the Nokia Lumia 800 in the US from February.

iPhone Gets Android Style Face Unlock Port (Video)

The latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android Ice Cream Sandwich comes with a face unlock feature, which is available on the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and now one developer has installed a similar feature on Apple’s iPhone.

The video below shows the face unlock feature running on an iPhone, and it isn’t clear whether this is an actual port of the Android software or something which has been developed from scratch.

LG Spectrum 4G LTE Gets Official

Yesterday we saw some more photos of the new LG Spectrum, the device is now official and it is headed to Verizon Wireless in the US and it features a 4.5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Processing is provided by a dual core Qualcomm 1.5GHz processor and it features Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with an updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich promised by LG.

Netflix Available On Sony’s PS Vita At Launch

Samsung Galaxy Note For AT&T Gets Official

The Samsung Galaxy Note has been available in Europe for a while now, we have been hearing over the last few months that it was headed to the US, and now AT&T has announced that they will start selling the Samsung Galaxy Note in the US.

The Samsung Galaxy features a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and it comes with a stylus and the AT&T version will come with LTE support.

Motorola Droid 4 For Verizon Gets Official

Over the last few months we have been hearing a lot about the new Motorola Droid 4, we had expected the device to launch in December, and now Verizon has finally officially announced the Motorola Droid 4.

The Motorola Droid 4 will come with 4G LTE and it features a dual core 1.2GHz processor and it will run Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, plus if features a 4 inch qHD scratch resistant touchscreen display and 1GB of RAM.

Sony Crystal LED, Next Generation HDTV Prototype Revealed

Sony has today revealed a new prototype display that is equipped with Sony’s new Crystal LED technology, rather than using OLED. The new Crystal LED technology uses tiny LED lights to create the screen and the 55 inch prototype on display at CES, using 6 million tiny LEDs to create the 1080p resolution.

On the prototype TV, Sony has mounted ultrafine LEDs behind each of the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) colours, which are equivalent to the number of pixels. With the RGB LED light source being mounted directly on the front of the display, which according to Sony, has a dramatic effect on light-use efficiency.

HTC Titan II 4G LTE Windows Phone Smartphone Announced

HTC has announced its first 4G LTE Windows Phone device, the HTC Titan II and it comes with some impressive specifications which include a 4.7 inch Super LCD display.

The HTC Titan II features Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and it is powered by a 1.5GHz Qulacomm Snapdragon S2 processor and features an advanced 16 megapixel camera.

Kinect For Windows Shipping 1st February, Available To Pre-Order For $250

Steve Ballmer Microsoft’s CEO has announced that Microsoft’s Kinect motion controller gaming peripheral will be arriving for Windows on February 1st 2012. If you would like to be one of the first to get your hands on the new Kinect device. The Kinect for Windows gaming peripheral is now available to pre-order for $249.99 from Amazon.

The new Kinect for Windows Sensor is fitted with a shortened USB cable to ensure reliability across a broad range of computers and includes a small dongle to improve support with other USB peripherals.

Sony Announces New Google TV Devices

Sony has announced a couple of new Google TV devices at this years CES, the Sony NSZ-GS7 media streamer and the Sony NSZ-GP9 Blu-ray player, and both devices come with a new remote which features a backlit keyboard and a touchpad with gesture navigation support.

The remote also features three axis motion sensing for gaming, and the Blu-ray player also come with a microphone to access Google TV with voice commands, and they will come with the latest version of Google TV.

ViewSonic Unveils $169 ViewPad e70 Android 4 Tablet (video)

ViewSonic has introduced a new 7 inch ViewPad e70 Android tablet to its range at CES this week, that will come supplied running Android 4.0 and will be priced at just $169.

As you would expect from a budget tablet a few areas have need to be reduced to keep the price point low, and the ViewSonic e70 tablet comes with a low resolution of just 800 x 480, powered by a single core processor. However Liliputing who were able to get their hands on the tablet at CES, say the tablet “feels fairly responsive and has a capacitive touchscreen”. HP Envy 14 Spectre Ultrabook Gets Official

Last week we saw a video teaser of a new ultrabook from HP, and now HP has announced the HP Envy 14 Spectre ultrabook, and it certainly features a different design that any of the ultrabooks we have seen previously.

The lid of the HP Envy 14 Spectre is made from lightweight scratch resistant glass, the glass is also used on the display, the palm rest and the HP ImagePad, and it features a 14 inch display in a typical 13.3 inch laptop frame.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Confirmed For Verizon

Back in December we heard a rumor that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 would be headed to US mobile carrier Verizon Wireless, Verizon and Samsung have now confirmed that the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be available on Verizon.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a 7.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, it will come with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, and 4G LTE.

Marvell Announces Smile Plug Computer At CES

Marvell has unveiled their new Smile Plug Computer at CES today, which it has created to slot into a power outlet and send its own local content out to other Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The Smile has been initially deigned for use in classrooms and provide what Marvell calls "Classroom 3.0,".

Marvell worked with Stanford University to produce the Marvell Smile Plug, which has been named after the Stanford Mobile Inquiry Based Learning Environment program, and creates a "micro cloud" wireless network within a classroom that is completely controlled by the teacher.

Zotac Unveils Trio Of Zbox Mini PCs At CES

Zotac has unveiled three new Zbox mini PCs that have been added to its range, at CES this week, in the form of the Zotac ID81, ID80 and AD04, which only require memory, OS and hard drives to use.

New Asus Transformer Prime With Super IPS+ Display Announced

The Asus Transformer Prime went on sale last month, and now Asus has launched a new version, the Asus Transformer Prime TF700T, which features a new Super iPS+ display.

The Super IPS+ display features a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, this compares to a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels on the original Transformer Prime tablet, and it is powered by a dual core 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

As well as announcing the new Sony Xperia Ion, Sony also announced another new Android smartphone, the Sony Xperia S, which features a 4.3 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Sony Xperia Ion Android Smartphone Announced

Sony has announced their first Xperia smartphone that will be produced under their Sony brand rather than the Sony Ericsson brand, the Sony Xperia Ion and it features a 4.6 inch HD Reality display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The Sony Xperia Ion is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz processor and it features 16GB of built in storage, there is also a 12 megapixel rear camera which can record full HD video in 1080p, and the camera uses Sony’s latest Exmor R sensor.

Nokia Lumia 900 LTE Windows Phone Gets Official (Video)

Nokia has officially announced their latest Windows Phone smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 900, which is the companies first LTE Windows Phone device and it is headed to US mobile carrier AT&T.

The Nokia Lumia 900 comes with Windows Phone Mango 7.5, and it features a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, as you can see from the photos the design is very similar to that of the Nokia Lumia 800.

Belkin Shows Off New WeMo Home Automation Gear
