iPhone 4S Owners Use Twice As Much Data Than iPhone 4 Thanks To Siri

According to a recent report, owners of Apple’s new iPhone 4S smartphone use almost twice as much data as iPhone 4 owners and almost three times as much data as iPhone 3G owners.

It would appear that it is Apple’s voice activated virtual assistant, Siri that is causing owners of the iPhone 4S to use more data than other iPhone devices, according to Michael Flanagan from Arieso.

We have featured some strange and wacky gadgets here on Geeky Gadgets over the years, but this Hamster Submarine has to be up at the top of the list.

The Hamster submarine is constructed from a 3 litre plastic bottles, and is fitted with a hamster wheel which allows the crew to power the submarines propeller. Watch the amazing video after the jump to see the “Houdina” the hamster go to new depths.

Samsung Galaxy Note For AT&T Confirmed By Accessory Makers

We heard recently that the Samsung Galaxy Note is headed to AT&T, although AT&T has yet to officially announce the handset, and now one accessory maker for the device has also confirmed that it will be available with AT&T shortly.

Accessory maker Anymode sent out its CES invites, and the invite mentions that Anymode are the OEM vendor for Galaxy note accessories, which pretty much confirms that AT&T will be having the Samsung Galaxy Note.

There are plenty of iPad cases on the market at the moment, but a team of designers have created a concept, which adds a unique innovative way to use the iPad case as a stand for viewing your iPad.

The Smarty iPad Case uses a little origami style folding and a couple of magnets to create a rigid stand from a soft protective case, and could be used with any tablet that is able to slide into the sleeve design.

Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky has revealed more details about the new “Storage Spaces” feature that will be included within Windows 8 when it is launched later this year.

The article was published on the Building Windows 8 blog and details how Windows 8 Storage Spaces are going to dramatically improve how you manage large volumes of storage within the operating system.

Toshiba To Launch Worlds Thinnest Tablet And Ultrabook At CES

Toshiba has announced that they will be launching a new tablet and ultrabook at CES 2012 next week, and according to Toshiba their new 10.1 inch tablet will be the worlds thinnest and lightest, and their new 13.3 inch ultrabook will also be the worlds thinnest and lightest.

We dont have any specifications on either device as yet, but it will be interesting to see if their new tablet and ultrabook live up to their claims of the worlds thinnest and lightest.

Apple Wants To Ban Steve Jobs Action Figure?

The other day we saw some photos of a new Steve Jobs action figure, the latest one is the most realistic to date and is being produced by a company called Inicons and will retail for $99.

As we mentioned in our previous article, when these action figures have been produced in the past, Apple has attempted to ban them from going on sale and this looks like the case with the latest one.

The trailer for the third Batman film in the series “The Dark Knight Rises” has broken Apple’s iTunes download record. Reaching a massive 12.5 million downloads in just 24 hours.

The new Dark Knight Rises is set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits. Motorola Motoluxe And Defy Mini Android Smartphones Announced

Motorola has announced two new Android smartphones the Motorola Motoluxe and the Motorola Defy Mini, and both devices will be shown of at CES 2012 next week.

The Motorola Motoluxe features a 4 inch touchscreen display and an 8 megapixel camera, plus a VGA front facing camera and a 1,400 mAh battery, it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Earlier today we got our first look at LG’s new Google TV, and now Google has announced more details on some other manufacturers that will show off Google TV devices at CES next week.

Both Sony and Veizo will unveil new Google TV devices at CES, and Google has also said that they are working with Samsung on Google TV devices and these will launch later in the year.

Here on Geeky Gadgets we have featured a number of iPad drop tests that have been carried out using the G-Force iPad case. The drop tests started from the safe height of a balcony and then stepped up to an impressive 1300 foot. Now the iPad and G-Force case have been dropped back to earth from 100,000 foot, from near the edge of space. Watch the video after the jump to see the drop for yourself.

Three new Apple patents submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office today, have indicated that Apple may be looking to add Thunderbolt ports to its iOS devices in the future.

The addition of Thunderbolt ports to Apple iOS devices, will provide users which hugely improved syncing speeds when compared to the included USB 2.0 connection thats currently available on Apple mobile devices.

Google have announced new features they have added to their beta Chrome browser version, that will now automatically pre-load website before you have even pressed the enter button on your keyboard. The new features have beed added to take Chrome’s instant and predictive features to the next level.

The Instant Pages feature within Chrome which has been created to pre-loads Web pages in the background, has now been expanded to the omnibox, Chrome’s combination address and search bar.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Headed To Sprint?

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus recently went on sale in the US with Verizon, and now it would appear that Google’s flagship Android smartphone may also be headed to US mobile carrier Sprint.

The guys over at Engadget spotted an online advert for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Sprint, and it would appear that it will come with the same 4.65 inch HD super AMOLED display as the existing models but it will feature a new dual core 1.5GHz processor as opposed to a dual core 1.2GHz processor on the existing model.

New Robot Design Inspired By Leaping Lizards (video)

Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, have created a new style of robot that has been inspired by leaping lizards. The teams research indicated that modern-day leaping lizards use their tails to control the orientation of their bodies when leaping through the air, and sparked the new design. The video after the break illustrates how both the lizards and the robot were able to control their body orientation using their tails.

LG Spectrum HD Android Smartphone Hits Verizon January 19th

We have already seen some leaked photos of the new LG Spectrum as well as some specifications, and now according to the guys from Droid Life, the device will launch on Verizon Wireless on the 19th of January.

The LG Spectrum features a 4.5 inch True HD IPS touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass, it is powered by a dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, and also features 1GB of RAM.

Nikon D4 DSLR Gets Official

Nikon has unveiled its latest DSLR, the Nikon D4, and it comes with a 16.2 megapixel full format CMOS sensor and it features an ISO up to 204,800, plus a 91k pixel 3D color matrix meter and a 51 point auto-focus tracking system.

The Nikon D4 features a 3.2 inch LCD, plus a built in Ethernet port, plus two AF buttons for shooting in portrait mode, and all of the buttons on the D4 are backlit.

This week Pioneer has announced they have created the world’s smallest external Blu-ray burner in the form of the Pioneer BDR-XD04. The super slim and lightweight Blu-ray burner weighs just 8.5oz and measures just 0.55 inches thick. The Pioneer BDR-XD04 sports a 6x write speed and is fitted with a slower USB 2.0 connection rather than a preferred and quicker USB 3.0 connection.

First Beta Raspberry Pi Computers Raising Money For Charity On Ebay

Even though the Raspberry Pi computers will sell for just $25-$35 when launched. The beta models of the computers are already generating thousands for charity in an eBay auction.

Currently the beta Raspberry Pi computer serial number #10 is sitting at a generous £2,100 on eBay, with still two days of bidding left to go. The boards come from a numbered, very limited edition of only ten units, and are the first to ever be built.

As with most electronic manufactures appearing in the CES show in Las Vegas, Harman Kardon has revealed their BDS x70 series of home theatre systems that will be making their debut at CES next week.

Within the new BDS x70 series is the Harman Kardon 5.1 channel BDS 770 system priced at $1100, which comes with the BDS 570 Blu-ray receiver with BD Live capabilities, “multiple” HDMI inputs and a USB input.

45,000 Facebook Login Details Stolen By Ramnit Worm Variant

Its thought that 45,000 or more login credentials have been stolen from Facebook users by a worm which was recently used to commit financial faux called Ramnit. The Ramnit Worm was first discovered back in April 2010 and has been under surveillance and tracked by the Seculert security company.

Seculert recently set up a sinkhole and discovered that 800,000 machines were infected between September and December and that 45,000 Facebook login has been compromised from users within he UK and France, using a variant of the Ramnit worm.

AOC 22-inch e2251Fwu Display Needs One USB Port

AOC has unveiled a new computer display for people that want another screen, but don't have the connectivity on their notebook or desktop to add one. The display is called the e2251Fwu and all it needs for power and connectivity is a single USB port. The display has DisplayLink tech.

The resolution of the display is 1920 x 1080 for full HD resolution support. It is also HDCP certified for Blu-ray playback. The display screen is 22-inches and it is LED backlit to save power. The profile of the display is only 10.6mm thick.

Scepter Launches New 24 series LED HDTV with DVD Players

Scepter has been offering up cool TVs for a long time now and of late, the company had started offering units with DVD players inside as well. A TV with an integrated DVD player is perfect for a small room or office where space is at a premium.

The new TV is the E243BD-FHD and it has a 23-inch screen and supports full 1080p resolution. The aspect ratio for the screen is 16:9 and it has three HDMI inputs to support multiple game consoles or cable boxes.
