Siri Curses at 12-year-old!?

The geeks that programmed Siri at Apple had a sense of humor. Siri will tell you the answer to life, the universe and everything (42 naturally). Siri will also get cross if you ask it to open the pod bay doors. That is nothing compared what a mom and her 12-year-old son from the UK claim Siri said to the boy.

According to news reports, the hacker meet united those in attendance to embark on an ambitious program. CyanogenMod 9 Equipped With 4G LTE Toggle Switch For Verizon Galaxy Nexus? (video)

If you were a little disappointed to learn that there would be no LTE toggle switch on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. You will be pleased to know that Gregory Sarrica, is currently developing a toggle button for the next-gen internet connectivity, to hopefully be included in a future build of CyanogenMod 9.

Gregory has contacted the Engadget Mobile website to reveal the possible inclusion of the handy 4G LTE toggle switch. Which is at the moment being reviewed before being formally accepted into the new CyanogenMod 9 build. Watch a video of the LTE toggle switch in action after the jump.

Asus Eee Memo Pad 7 Inch Tablet Leaked

Earlier today we saw a new netbook from Asus which they will launch at CES 2012 later this month, and now another new device from Asus has been leaked, this time it is a new 7 inch Android tablet.

The guys from Notebook Italia have obtained some details on the new Asus Eee Memo Pad, which is a 7 inch Android tablet, powered by a dual core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, and it will come with between 16GB and 64GB of storage.

Super Talent has unveiled a new addition to their range of storage devices with the unveiling of their new external SSD range, the POD Mini. The new POD Mini SSD range is equipped with a metal case, USB 3.0 connectivity and flash memory available in either 60GB, 120GB and 240GB capacities. It sports 260MBps read speeds as well as peak write speeds of 174MBps, and is no larger than a 2.5 inch hard drive.

Samsung To Launch 7 Inch Galaxy Tab With AMOLED Display?

It looks like Samsung may have a new 7 inch tablet in the works, as a new Samsung AMOLED display has been discovered, and it is a 7 inch display with a WSVGA resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

It is possible that Samsung intends to use this new AMOLED display in a 7 inch tablet, and they could also sell it to other manufacturers to use in their future tablets.

Samsung DualView DV300F WiFi Enabled Compact Camera Unveiled

Samsung has this week unveiled a new compact camera to their range in the form of the Samsung DualView DV300F. Which is equipped with dual screens, with one positioned on the front allowing you to take photos at arm length with ease and see the image you will capture.

The Samsung DualView DV300F is also equipped with a 16 megapixel sensor, WiFi connectivity, and sharing options for Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, and YouTube. Its also equipped with a 5x optical zoom and a 25mm wide-angle lens.

Apple’s Internal Gamestore Testing App Turns Up In The App Store

It looks like one of Apple’s internal testing applications has turned up in the app store, if you search for Gamestore, you will notice an application available for $0.99 or £0.69.

The app seems to be some sort of test application, and it offers in app purchases, although they don’t seem to have any function at the moment, you can see some screenshots of the app below.

Asus Netbooks With Intel Cedar Trail To Launch At CES 2012

Earlier today we heard about a new netbook from Lenovo that will use Intel’s new Cedar Trail platform, and now we have some details on Asus’s latest range of netbooks which will also use the Intel Cedar Trail processors.

Asus are expected to show off a number of new netbooks at CES later this month, and according to the guys from Notebook Italia these new devices will be part of the Asus Eee PC Flare netbook range.

Chromatic Typewriter Provides A Unique Painting Style

Artist Tyree Callahan has taken a 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter and transformed it into something a little special called the Chromatic Typewriter. Fake Spotify App Appears In Windows Phone Marketplace

Spotify is already available as a free app for Windows Phone devices from the Windows Phone Marketplace, and now it would seen that a developer called khanmish has managed to sneak a Spotify app into the Windows Phone Marketplace and is charging for the application.

The fake Spotify app is being sold for $9.99 or £0.79 through the Windows Phone Marketplace, and for your $0.99 all you get is some music news feeds, so basically the app is a complete scam.

Mineways Transforms Your Minecraft Designs Into Reality (video)

Minecraft fans that would like to see their Minecraft computer creations transformed into something they can actually hold. Might be interested in the new Mineways software program now available, that takes models from Minecraft and will send them to 3D printers or 3D printing services, such as Shapeways.

Tegra 3 Powered Toshiba Tablet Turns Up In Benchmarks

Asus recently launched the first Tegra 3 powered quad core tablet, and now it looks like Toshiba may have one in the works as a reference to a new Toshiba Tegra 3 tablet has appeared in some benchmarks.

This new unannounced Toshiba tablet was listed on benchmarking site AnTuTu, and it appears to have a 1.4GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, which is the maximum speed of the Tegra 3 at the moment.

Facebook Timeline Not Supported By IE7

Facebook users who are also using the older Internet Explorer 7 version of Microsoft’s browser will have to update, or lose access to the new Facebook Timeline feature recently launched. As Facebook has now stopped supporting Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 browser, according to The Sociable website. Even thought the browser is now five years old it is still used worldwide by a number small percentage of users.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note To Feature NFC

We recently heard that the Samsung Galaxy Note is expected to be launched in the US either this month or early next month, and now it would appear that the AT&T version may be slightly different than the European version.

MAME Arcade Game Emulator Arrives On Google Chrome

If you were a little too slow downloading the The MAME Acrade Emulator, which made a very brief appearance in Apple’s iTunes App Store, before being pulled by Apple. You might be pleased to learn that its now available on Google’s Chrome Browser.

The MAME arcade emulator has been designed to emulate arcade classics and  been ported to Google Chrome by Robert Muth. But remember some of the ROMs required to play the games are of course copyrighted.

PS Vita Plays Genesis Games Using Double Emulator Technique (video)

Sony’s new PS Vita gaming console which has been recently launched and only been available for under a month. Has now been tweaked to allow user to be able to play Sega Genesis games.

The Sega games are played using a double emulator technique using the homebrew Genesis emulator originally built for the PSP, running inside the Vita’s own PSP emulation software. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.

Asus Transformer Prime Features Locked Bootloader

Asus recently launched their first quad core tablet, the Asus Transformer Prime, which is powered by the new NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, and comes with Android 3.2 Honeycomb.

Now it would appear that the guys from the XDA developers have discovered that the Transformer Prime comes with a locked bootloader, just like HTC did with some of their previous devices.

Samsung Core Trademark For Smartphones And Tablets Revealed

Samsung is expected to launch a new quad core smartphone at MWC 2012 next month, the Samsung Galaxy S III, and now a new trademark filing for tablets and smartphones has been revealed called the ‘Samsung Core’.

It isn’t clear as yet what Samsung intends to use the ‘Samsung Core’ trademark for, whether it will be a single device or the company may intend to use it for a number of devices like they did with their Samsung Galaxy trademark.

A new product will be showcased at this years CES show in Vegas called Perch, which has been designed to help you remember not leave your charging cables in hotels when travelling.

Designed by LPS the Perch has been created to be inserted between the plug socket and your charging cable, and will emit an audible beep when your smartphone or device which has been charging is removed from its charging cable. Reminding you to make sure you also pack the cable as well as your device. If it is not yet time to unplug the charger, the beep can be silenced with the push of a button.

Shogun Bros. has just announced a new version of their Chameleon X-1 Mouse, and this Assassins Creed Revelations themed mouse will be officially launched at CES 2012 later this month.

The new Chameleon X-1 Mouse with be available in two different colors, ‘Altair white’ and ‘Ezio grey’ and it comes with some antique decorated leather on the mouse buttons.

Facebook Windows Messenger App Officially Launched

Last week Facebooks new Windows Messenger application was leaked to the world, ahead of its scheduled launch. But rather than hunting down the perpetrators, Facebook has now decided to officially launch the Windows-based Facebook Messenger client.

As expected the new Facebook Messenger client allows you to communicate with Facebook friends directly from Windows Messenger, without the need to open up its web page in a browser.

Nokia Lumia 900 For AT&T Leaked?

We have already seen one photo from an official Nokia video of what is reported to be the Nokia Lumia 900 and now a possible photo of the device for AT&T has been leaked.

According to Pocket Now, the photo below was sent as a Christmas card and as you can see it shows AT&T as the carrier, but what is more interesting is the front facing camera shown in the photo.

Gizmon iCA Classic Camera iPhone Case

We have featured a number of cases and decals that are designed to make your iPhone or iPhone 4S look like a classic camera, although I think this new one is probably the most realistic to date.

The Gizmon iCA Classic Camera Case is made from 32 individual polycarbonate parts, and it comes with an optical viewfinder, a shutter button that presses the iPhone volume button so you can snap a photo and it also has a built in tripod mount.

Meizu MX Android Smartphone Launched In China And Hong Kong

We have been hearing quite a lot about the Meizu MX Android smartphone recently, there is a quad core version reported to be coming later this year, and the dual core version has now gone on sale in China and Hong Kong.

As a reminder, the Meizu MX comes with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, although it is expected to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update within the next few months.

Verizon Drops Droid Xyboard Tablets By $50

Verizon and Motorola recently launched their latest Android tablets, the Droid Xyboard, there are two models available, a 10.1 inch version which retailed for $529.99 and an 8 inch model which retailed for $429.99, both of these prices were when you signed up to a new two year data contract.

Verizon has now dropped the price of both model by $50, the 10 inch version now retails for $479.99 and the 8 inch version now retails for $379.99.

The 60beat GamePad is a new gaming controller for iOS device and it is designed to be used with your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, and it connects to your iOS device via the headphone socket.

The video below shows the 60beat GamePad in action, and at the moment it only supports a couple of games which include Bugdom 2 and Aftermath, although more are expected to support the device in the future.

Grand Theft PC Mods Work On Android And iOS Versions (video)

Gamers who have already purchased iOS or Android versions of the recently released Grand Theft Auto III on to tablets. Might be pleased to learn that PC mods already created for GTA III can be used on the tablet versions.

Intel And LG To Show Off Medfield Powered Android Smartphone At CES 2012

It looks like we will get a look at the first new Android smartphone to use Intel’s new Medfield platform at CES 2012 later this month, as Intel and LG have announced that they will unveil a new Medfield Android based device at CES.

Intel’s Paul Otellini has told the Korean Times that the company and LG will launch the first Android device running on Intel’s platform, and the device is expected to hit retail around March of 2012.

Apple’s Jonathan Ive Receives Knighthood In New Year Honours List

In the New Year Honours List Apple’s Senior Vice President and Industrial Designer Jonathan Ive, has received a knighthood. Ive joined Apple in 1992 and Since 1996, has been responsible for leading a design team widely regarded as one of the world's best, creating iconic Apple products over the last 19 years.

The knighthood which was announced on the diplomatic and overseas list. Is the second time Mr Ive has been recognised in the honours list. In 2005 he was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE).

Verizon Cancels Plan For $2 Fee For Paying Your Bill Online

Last week we heard that Verizon Wireless had decided to introduce a $2 charge to customers who decided to pay their bill online or over the telephone, Verizon customers were less than pleased with the new fee.

Now due to the huge amount of customer backlash, Verizon has decided to cancel the plan to charge customer the $2 fee, after they had received thousands of complaints from customers and also come under scrutiny from the regulators.

Lenovo IdeaPad S110 Netbook Revealed (Video)

Lenovo has released a video which gives us a look at their latest netbook, the Lenovo IdeaPad S110, which will feature Intel’s new Cedra Trail processors, and it will feature a 10.1 inch HD display.

The Lenovo S110 features an Intel Atom N2600 processor and comes with 1GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive, there is also USB 3.0, WiFi and a VGA port.

Google Removes Fake Siri App From Android Market

Last week we told you about the Fake Siri app that had managed to get its way into the Android Market, the app was released by a developer called ‘Official App’, in an attempt to fool people onto thinking this was an official Siri app for Android.

This fake Siri App, along with some other fake apps by the developer, which were posing as official applications like the Pinterest one have now been removed from the Android Market.

Jeffrey Stephenson is well know for creating custom computers, and we have featured a number of his creations here at Geeky Gadgets, his latest one is called the Aerodyne.

The Aerodyne is made from a combination of mahogany and aluminum and it is based on a fanless mini-ITX case design, inside the case there is an Intel Core I3-2105 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, and it is running Windows 8.

If you are a Dropbox power user you might be pleased to learn that a new software company has developed and launched a new system that will allow you to automate actions within your Dropbox folders.

The new Dropbox Automator service created by Wappwolf, will automatically allow you to carry out tasks when you upload files to Dropbox box. Such as : every time you put a Word-doc in your automated Dropbox folder, it gets converted to PDF, digitally signed and sent via e-mail! LG Unveils 4mm Thick 55 Inch OLED TV Ahead Of CES

LG announced last week they would be unveiling their new 55 inch OLED TV at CES this year. But ahead of CES LG have now released a few photos and a few more details of their new 55 inch OLED which will be just 4mm thick.

LG’s new OLED TV is currently the worlds largest currently available and is equipped with LG’s 4-Color Pixels and Color Refiner features within LG’s organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display.

Sony Tablet S Price Slashed By $100 Down To $400

Sony has already confirmed that their new Tablet S tablet will be receiving an upgrade to Google’s latest Android OS version, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Thanks to a Sony employee who posted the news on their forums over the holiday break.

However Sony have now slashed $100 off the price of their Tablet S, reducing the price of the tablet down to $400 for the 16GB and $500 for the 32GB model.

Apple TV Hacked To Run Fullscreen iOS iPad Apps At 720p (video)

The developers behind the Apple TV MobileX project have released a new video of their work this week, which shows iOS applications running in full 720p via a modified Apple TV.

In the video after the break you can see Apple TV MobileX being used to run applications such as Facebook, Maps, Safari and YouTube. However most of the applications available in the Apple iTunes App Store should also run without a problem say the MobileX project development team. The video below is not using AirPlay, but running the iOS applications directly from the Apple TV scaling them to 720p.
