| Apple Settles Long-Running Patent Infringement Suit with Simple Air Posted: 25 May 2012 09:08 AM PDT Apple has finally announced that it has settled a long-running patent dispute between it and a company called SimpleAir. SimpleAir filed a patent infringement suit against Apple back in 2009 in the US District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. That suit alleged Apple was infringing on four patents having to do with the transmission of data and alerts for unconnected users. | RIM Has No Plans To License BBM To Other Platforms Posted: 25 May 2012 05:42 AM PDT there have been a number of rumors over the last few months that RIM had intended to open up its BlackBerry Messenger to other platforms which included Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platform. Now according to a recent report from the WSJ, who recently interviewed RIM’s CEO, RIM has no plans to license BBM to other platforms, or other devices.

| Apple CEO Tim Cook Turns Down $75 Million Dividend Posted: 25 May 2012 04:42 AM PDT In a recent SEC filing it has been revealed that Apple’s new CEO, Tim Cook, has turned down a dividend worth $75 million US dollars, the details were revealed in a filing which announced that Apple plans to award a $2.65 a share quarterly dividend on restricted stock which is held by Apple employees. The Apple CEO has decided that he does not want to receive the dividend on his restricted stock, which would be worth around $75 million to him.

| Firm Who Tricked Users With Fake Angry Birds And Cut The Rope Apps Fined £50,000 Posted: 25 May 2012 03:56 AM PDT We have all seen those fake apps in the Google Play apps store, one company behind some fake Angry Birds and fake Cut the Rope apps has been fined a total of £50,000 and ordered to refund £28,000 that they conned out of people using their fake apps. What the company did was offer fake free apps through Google Play, and when a user downloaded the app the received a text, but what the users didn’t realize was they were being charged around £15 for the texts, this didn’t come to light until they got their mobile phone bill.

| Asus Transformer Pad TF300TL With LTE Appears At The FCC Posted: 25 May 2012 03:46 AM PDT It looks like Asus may be about to launch a new version of their Asus Transformer Pad TF300 Android tablet in the US, as a version of the device, the Asus Transformer Pad TF300TL has appeared at the FCC. What is interesting about this version, as opposed to the existing model which comes with WiFi only, the TF300TL appears to come with support for 850MHz and 1,900MHz frequencies support for HSPA 3G and 700MHz and 1,700MHz support for 4G LTE.

| NVIDIA Says 30 Tegra 3 Smartphones Launching In 2012 Posted: 25 May 2012 03:21 AM PDT We have already seen a couple of new smartphones launch with NVIDIA’s new quad core Tegra 3 processor, the HTC One X and the LG Optimus 4X, but it looks like we can expect to see quite a few more before the end of the year. NVIDIA has announced that there will be around 30 Tegra 3 powered smartphones launched before the end of 2012, so that means there is another 28 to come that have yet to be announced. Yesterday we heard that NVIDIA’s Icera Modem had been certified for use with AT&T, what this means is that we can expect a range of LTE smartphones to be launched with NVIDIA’s new Tegra 3 processor.

| Google Adds In App Subscriptions To Google Play Posted: 25 May 2012 03:11 AM PDT Google added the option for in app billing to its Google Play store last year, and now Google has added the ability for in app subscriptions, so basically you will now be able to pay a monthly or annual fee for subscriptions to things like magazines, games etc. Apple has had this option available in their iOS app store for a while, and Google Play developers will now have another way to generate revenue from their apps with in app subscriptions.

| Samsung Galaxy S III To Land In Canada June 20th Posted: 25 May 2012 02:16 AM PDT The Samsung Galaxy S III is due to go on sale in the US next month, although no specific launch date has been given, now it looks like we may have a possible launch date for the handset in Canada. The guys over at Mobile Syrup spotted the Galaxy S III in an advert for four networks in Canada, which include Bell, Telus, Rogers and Virgin Mobile with a launch date of the 20th of June.

| Facebook Launches Facebook Camera App For iOS Posted: 24 May 2012 10:59 PM PDT Facebook recently announced that they were buying the company behind the photo sharing app Instagram in a deal which is worth $1 billion, and now Facebook has launched their own photo sharing application for Apple’s iOS devices called Facebook Camera. Facebook has made it clear that Facebook Camera and Instagram are two separate apps with different features, and the Facebook camera app is designed to work like the Facebook Messages app.
