The popularity of HBO’s Game of Thrones series can’t be denied. The show has been one of the networks most popular programs and its popularity has also learned it a much more dubious distinction. The fact that the only way to watch the program is as an HBO subscriber or to buy the DVD once the season is over, has led many to pirate episodes.

NBC Not Happy about Auto Hop Service on Dish Network

Late last week I mentioned that Dish Network had a new feature for its Hopper DVRs that made skipping all commercials from primetime programs automatic. If you recall, the system actually deleted the commercials rather than simply automatically fast forwarding through them. I also speculated that lawsuits would be over the new feature from broadcasters.

Verizon employees get special edition Red DROID RAZR MAXX

In February, Verizon gave its employees a chance to purchase a limited edition DROID RAZR MAXX in either 16GB or 32GB for $99 or $199. These special edition RAZR MAXXs have red accents, with "LIMITED EDITION" next to Verizon's logo, and they also come engraved with a unique number.

Sparrow 1.2 Update Rolls Out, Apple Refuses Push Support

Sparrow has today rolled out a new update to their awesome mail application for iPhone, taking it to release Sparrow 1.2. Unfortunately for those of you waiting for Push mail to be added to the app, this update doesn’t include this feature. As apparently Apple will not make any exceptions despite the strong demand for the feature.

Joerg Sprave’s Slingshot Bow And Arrow (Video)

We have featured quite a few of Joerg Sprave’s crazy slingshots previously on Geeky Gadgets, his latest creation is called the Slingbow which is a slingshot bow and arrow.

As the name suggests the Slingbow is a cross between a bow and arrow and a slingshot have a look at the video of it in action below, and it uses a custom made bow plus elastic instead of a string.

Buffalo Becomes First To Launch Next Generation 802.11ac Router

Buffalo has become the first manufacturer to launch a router using the next generation Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac. The new Wi-Fi standard is now available in the Buffalo AirStation WZR-D1800H wireless router and WLI-H4-D1300 wireless media bridge.

The latest 802.11ac router was first unveiled back in CES earlier this year, and provide a wireless connection speeds of up to 1.3Mbps via the 5Ghz band. Around 30 percent faster than the current standard, together with improved range.

Doctor Who Theme Played Using Floppy Drives (video)

Verizon To Drop The Droid RAZR Maxx To $199 Tomorrow?

When Verizon started selling the new Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx the handset was available for $299.99 when you signed up to a new two year contract with the carrier.

HP Confirms Windows 8 Tablets In The Works

We pretty much knew that HP would be one of the companies to launch a Windows 8 tablet later this year, the news was all but confirmed by HP’s CEO Meg Whitman last year after the failure of webOS tablets after HP purchased webOS from Palm.

Now HP’s vice president Todd Bradley and Meg Whitman have confirmed for the first time that HP will release Windows 8 tablets later in the year, although no specific details were given.

HTC Desire C Photo And Specifications Leaked

HTC have yet to announce the HTC Desire C, but the guys over at GSM Arena noticed that Vodafone Portugal have listed the device along with the photo below and some specifications.

The HTC Desire C will apparently come with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will feature a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

Vintage Leica Becomes The Worlds Most Expensive Camera, Sells for $2.79m

Last week we saw a couple of new expensive cameras from Leica, although not quite as expensive as a vintage Leica camera which recently sold at auction for a record sum.

A Leica O-Series camera was recently sold at auction for a massive 2.16 million Euros, which works out at around $2.79 million US dollars, making it the most expensive camera ever sold.

Samsung Galaxy Proclaim Smartphone Announced

Samsung has announced the launch of another new Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim which is designed to be a mid level Android device that comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S III To Be Powered By Snapdragon S4?

Samsung recently announced their new Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone, the handset comes with a quad core 1.4GHz Exynos processor, and now it would appear that some of the US versions of the handset may feature a different processor.

According to the guys over at Droid Life, the Verizon Galaxy S III will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor as opposed to Samsung’s own quad core Exynos processor.

Largest Ever Photo Taken Of Earth Is 121 Megapixels In Size (video)

Russian weather satellite Elektro-L No.1, has captured a new photo of our planet Earth from space, which is now currently the worlds largest single photograph of Earth from space.

The new photograph taken by Elektro-L No.1 beats NASA’s “Blue Marble” photo the previous largest image, and was taken as a single image from 22,369 miles away, and is 121 megapixel in size.

Ferrari To Launch Hybrid Enzo By The End Of The Year

Spotify Update Adds Playlist-Based Radio, Instant Search, Embed Codes And More

Spotify has rolled out a new update to their service which has brought with it a number of great new features, including the ability to now listen to radio stations based on a playlist or an album.

Asus Padfone Official Demo Released (Video)

Thunderbolt Tested On Windows, Hot Plugging On Its Way (video)

Tech hardware site AnandTech has been putting Thunderbolt through its paces using Windows and one of the first PC motherboards to support the Thunderbolt specification. The testing shows that most Thunderbolt storage will work off the shelf with the new motherboard.

AnandTech was also able to get Apple’s Thunderbolt Display working.However a few things don’t yet fully function on the on the Apple Display such as brightness controls and USB support.

Audi e-bike Worthersee Concept Electric Bike Designed For Sport, Fun And Tricks

Audi has this month unveiled a new bike they have created for “sport, fun and tricks” says Audi, in the form of the Audi e-bike Wörthersee. The Audi e-bike Wörthersee has been created by Audi to investigate what is possible for a bike in terms of design, lightweight construction, networking and electric mobility.

All the components within Audi e-bike Wörthersee have been designed and custom created by Audi engineers. For example the 26-inch wheels are constructed from CFRP and incorporate large-area blade-pattern spokes, allowing them to weigh just 600 grams each.

Apple’s iCloud Website To Gets Notes And Reminders

Apple Considering Buying German TV Maker Loewe (Rumor)

We have been hearing rumors for a while that Apple are working on their own HDTV, and now according to a recent report by Apple Insider, Apple are apparently considering purchasing German TV manufacturer Loewe.

According to the Apple is rumored to be offering $112 million for Loewe, which is slightly more that the companies latest closing price, and Loewe has been making TVs since 1923.

Acer Liquid Glow Appears At The FCC

Some of our readers will remember the Acer Liquid Glow which was announced at MWC 2012 back in February, and now the handset has just appeared at the FCC, which could hint at the handset is about to launch in the US.

2012 MacBook Pro And iMac Appear In Benchmarks

Apple are expected to release their new 2012 MacBook Pro and also a new range of iMacs some time over the next couple of months, we have yet to have any official announcement from Apple on this years new iMac and MacBook Pro range.

Now some benchmarks have been discovered which appear to be for the new 2012 MacBook Pro and also the new iMac, the MacBook Pro was apparently listed with an Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7-3820QM quad core processor clocked at 2.7 GHz, with the reference of MacBookPro9,1.

Sons of Anarchy Getting A “Real Game”

The “Sons” are heading to a proper game machine sometime in the near future, according to show runner Kurt Sutter’s Twitter feed. Previously announced was a browser game tie-in dealing with the antics of prime time’s ersatz Hell’s Angels, but those plans have apparently been scrapped in favour of a “real game”.
