US Cellphone Carriers To Build Database To Combat Smartphone Theft Posted: 10 Apr 2012 02:38 AM PDT The major cellphone carriers in the US have agreed a deal with the US government to build a central database of stolen cellphones in the US, and the database will be designed to track any smartphone or cellphone that has been reported as lost of stolen. The four companies involved in the database include AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, and they idea behind it is that it will make it difficult for stolen or lost mobile phones to be re-sold as they will be tracked via the database. Sony Announces $6.4 Billion Loss Posted: 10 Apr 2012 12:49 AM PDT Yesterday Sony announced that they were cutting 10,000 jobs around the world, and now the company has announced its latest financial results for the 2011 financial year, with a massive $6.4 billion loss. The $6.4 billion loss is made up of a $3.6 billion tax charge in the US and a $2.9 billion loss from its operations, however Sony has also said that they are expecting to turn things around this year.
