For a long time all the major wireless networks offered unlimited data. They offered that unlimited data because few people used their data thanks to the fact that most mobile phones sucked at data use. That all changed when the iPhone showed up. Once the iPhone showed up, most of the major carriers started crying foul because people were actually using their wireless connectivity.

App Lets You Read All the Magazines You Want for $15

A big fan of digital books online iPad and Kindle Fire. I haven’t tried any digital magazines are other digital publications though because I think it’s ridiculous that most publishers want the same price or more for digital version of the print magazines. You’re not fooling me when it comes to your costs and digital publications and I refuse to subsidize failing print media.

Nokia Lumia 900 Gets Reviewed

The Nokia Lumia 900 will go on sale in the US this weekend with AT&T, the Lumia 900 comes with the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS and it comes with a a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Other specifications on the Nokia Lumia 900 include a single core 1.4GHz processor, plus a rear facing 8 megapixel camera with an f2.2 Carl Zeiss lens, the rear camera is capable of recording HD video in 720p, up front we have a 1 megapixel camera with an f2.4 lens and the device comes with 16GB of built in storage.

Yahoo Cuts 14 Percent Of Its Workforce

As expected Yahoo has today announced that it will be making layoffs throughout the company. But not just a small amount, 14 percent of its workforce, which equates to around 2,000 positions. Yahoo! hopes to realise approximately $375 million of annualised savings upon completion of all employee layoffs.

Windows Phone Marketplace Hits 80,000 Apps

We heard a couple of weeks ago that Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace had hit 70,000 apps, and now it looks like Microsoft’s mobile app store has hit another milestone and now has 80,000 applications available to download.

Microsoft’s Windows Phone marketplace is still quite away behind Google’s Android Market and Apple’s iOS app store, but it looks like it is starting to gain some momentum.

Samsung Galaxy S III Being Tested By Korean Carriers?

We know that Samsung’s Galaxy S III smartphone is coming some time in the next couple of months, and it looks like we could be getting closer to the handsets release as the device is apparently being tested by Korean carriers.

According to the guys over at The Verge, the testing process normally takes two months, although it would appear that Samsung want the device tested much quicker than the normal two months.

HTC One X And One S Up For Pre-order At Three UK

The HTC One X and HTC One S are due to go on sale in the UK from tomorrow the 5th of April, and both device should;d be available from a range of mobile carriers here in the UK.

UK carrier Three has just put the HTC One X and HTC One S up for pre-order, and they are available on a range of different contract with the carrier, which include the HTC One X for £99 up front on a 24 month contract that will cost you £27 a month.

Sim Free Nokia Lumia 900 and 610 Pricing Confirmed For The UK

Nokia’s new Lumia 900 and Lumia 610 are headed to the UK shortly and now we have some pricing details on both handsets for the UK, the SIM free Nokia Lumia 900 will retail for £486 including taxes whilst the SIM free Nokia Lumia 610 will retail for £228 including taxes.

Unfortunately there is no official launch date for both devices, although we suspect it won’t be very long after the Lumia 900 launches in the US which happens on the 8th of April.

Samsung Launching AdHub Market Mobile Ad Platform

Both Google and Apple have their own advertising platforms for mobile devices and now Samsung has announced that they are also launching their own ad platform for mobile which will be called the Samsung AdHub Market.

Samsung has teamed up with a company called OpenX Technologies for its mobile advertising platform, and the AdHub Market is expected to launch in the second half of 2012.

Spheros Robot Receives New Apps And Rolls Out Internationally (video)

The ball shaped robot called Sphero has this week received a couple of new applications. That will be arriving this month helping it roll around with even more precision and fun than previously.

The first application to arrive is called Chromo and is a game designed to match the colour and Beat the clock. Chromo is initially available for iOS only. Watch it in action after the jump.

Samsumg Galaxy Note Android 4.0 ICS ROM Leaked

We know that Samsung is working on the Android 4,0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for their Galaxy Note smartphone which is expected to be available some time this quarter.

Now it looks like the first Android 4,0 ICS ROM has been leaked for the Samsung Galaxy Note, although it doesn’t include Samsung’s Premium Suite which will come with the final build of ICS for the Galaxy Note.

Amazon Developing And Testing In-App Purchasing

Along similar lines to Google and Apple in their application stores, Amazon is now developing and testing a new in-app purchasing system, with options for both subscriptions and purchases of individual items.

The report of the new testing was revealed my Bloomberg today and indicated that Amazon is looking to join the same market with Apple and Google. Enabling application software to generate revenue for developers as well as companies.

Vivaldi Open Source €200 Tablet Launch Delayed A Month

It has been announced this week by developer Aaron Seigo that the new open source Vivaldi tablet, which was hoped to be arriving in May. Will be delayed by around a month.

The open source Vivaldi tablet is equipped with a 7 inch screen sporting a 800 x 480 resolution display. Its powered by a 1 Ghz AMlogic processor and will run a free and open source Linux-based software which will set the tablet apart from other on the market, explains Seigo.

Stealth Intel Core Based Mini PC Unveiled

This week Stealth has unveiled a new mini PC system that is capable of being powered by Intel’s Core i3/i5/i7 Sandy Bridge processors. The Stealth LPC-680 LittlePC measures just 6.5 x 6 x 2 inches in size and is powered by a included 20VDC adapter, but it can also run off of an external 12 to 20VDC power source.

Android Hits 50 Percent Of US Smartphone Market

ComScore has released its latest figures for the US smartphone market, and Google’s Android platform now makes up 50 percent of the market, an increase of 3.2 percent since the last report.

Apple’s iOS share has also increased to 30.2 percent an increase of 1.5 percent, whilst RIM’s share has fallen 3.2 percent to 13.4 percent and Microsoft’s share has also fallen by 1.3 percent.

Instagram For Android Hits 1 Million Downloads In Less Than 24 Hours

Instagram is extremely popular on Apple’s iOS platform with more than 30 million users, and the Android version launched yesterday and it looks like Instagram for Android is going to be extremely popular.

According to the guys over at the Next Web, there were more than 1 million downloads of Instagram for Android in less than 24 hours, which certainly is impressive.

PS Vita 1.66 Firmware Update Now Available

Nokia Lumia 900 Gets Taken Apart

Nokia’s new Lumia 900 is due to launch on AT&T in the US this weekend on the 8th of April, and the guys over at TechRepublic decided to take their screwdrivers to the Lumia 900 to see what was inside.

You can see what they found inside the Nokia Lumia 900 in the photos below, and there weren’t really any surprises inside the device expect that the majority of the components seem to be cheaper ones, which would explain the devices low price point.

HTC Evo One Poses For The Camera

Yesterday we showed you a leaked press shot of the HTC Evo One, which is Sprint’s version of the HTC One X, and now we have some actual photos of this new Android smartphone from the guys over at Android Life.

The HTC Evo One features a 4.7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and it comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich plus the latest version of HTC’s custom UI, HTC Sense 4.0.

Shazam 5.0 Now Recognises Songs In A Second

Shazam has this week received a major update has been released today taking the music identification service app to Shazam 5.0. The popular music identification application uses your smartphones microphone to gather a snippet of music being played. It then creates an acoustic fingerprint based on the sample, which is then compared against a central database for a song match.

LG Viper Headed To Sprint For $99.99

Sprint has announced that the LG Viper will be available to pre-order on their network in the US from the 12th of April for $99.9 when you sign up to a new two year contract with the carrier.

The $99.99 price is after a $50 mail in rebate and the LG Viper comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, plus a dual core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

Instagram For Android Gets Updated

Instagram for Android was only released yesterday, and the app has already received its first official update, which is supposed to improve the apps compatibility with a number of different Android devices.

According to the guys over at The Verge, they were having trouble getting the new HTC One X to work with Instagram, and after the update the device still doesn’t work, but it now shows the message ‘ camera not supported’.
