Asus and Acer Ultrabooks to Cost Over $1000?

The whole time we have been hearing about and reporting on the coming Intel Ultrabooks the big selling point has been the low price of under $1000. As it turns out that big selling point may not be accurate. Reports are coming in that both Asus and Acer are reconsidering their Ultrabook pricing.

Zero1.tv Universal iPhone Remote Breaks Cover

Holy Buck Rogers! Maul Taser Rifle Zaps At Long Range

Actually, calling it a Taser rifle is a bit misleading. But out of all the stun weapons that have been built in the last few decades, the Maul comes closest to a full fledged electric rifle. Then again, the Maul module isn’t a non-lethal weapon either. Confused? Don’t be. What its Australian manufacturer wants to accomplish with the Maul is the ultimate law enforcement close quarters weapon. It’s ideally a shotgun but also a stun gun when loaded with special incapacitating rounds. Allow us to explain in depth.

HTC Omega Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Details Revealed

It looks like HTC has a new Windows Phone 7 smartphone in the works, the HTC Omega which could be one of HTC’s first Windows Phone 7 Mango smartphones, and according to a recent report it will feature a 3.8 inch Super LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Other reported specifications on the new HTC Omega include a single core 1.5GHz MSM 8255 processor plus 512MB of RAM, and an 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash and auto-focus.

MIDI Mobilizer II Connects MIDI Instruments To Your iOS Devices And Now Supports CoreMIDI

Line 6 has this week unveiled its MIDI Mobilizer II which builds on the original MIDI Mobilizer pictured below, but has now been updated to also support CoreMIDI for compatibility with the latest apps.

CoreMIDI is the newly developed standard for iOS MIDI apps, and an extension of MIDI, the world standard for all non-audio digital recording. CoreMIDI has now been established as the exclusive MIDI language for all iOS music apps, and is used by used by GarageBand and other newer recording apps.

Spotify Passes 70,000 US Paid Subscribers

Since it arrived in the US a little over a week ago, Spotify the music Internet streaming service has already signed up 70,000 paying subscribes to its service. The number has yet to be confirmed by Spotify and has been released by Billboard, who claims three labels/publisher executives have confirmed its figure.

Spotify still has some way to go before it catches the likes of Rhapsody which launched in 2001 and now has around 800,000 subscribers and Pandora who has around 36 million monthly active users.

BlackBerry Bold 9930 Turns Up On Verizon Website (Video)

RIM are expected to announce a range of new BlackBerry smartphones later today, one of those is the BlackBerry Bold 9930, which has been appeared on the Verizon Wireless website.

Verizon posted a walk through video on the BlackBerry Bold 9930, which you can see in the video below, and it features a new slimmer design, a QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8 inch touchscreen display.

Onkyo Unveils New Android Remote Streaming App

If you are lucky enough to have a Onkyo music system in your house you will be pleased to know that Onkyo have today announced the launch of their new Android remote control streaming application.

The new Android Onkyo application connects to your music system using your local Wi-Fi network and enables you to stream music from your Android devices to an Onkyo network audio system. The new Android App also allows you to browse your networked music collection without the need to view on-screen menus on a connected display, instead using the touch-screen GUI on your Android device to navigate menus and control system functions, all from the comfort of your arm chair.

Bang & Olufsen’s Introduce New BeoSound 5 Encore Digital Sound System (video)

Bang & Olufsen has this week introduced its new music system the BeoSound 5 Encore which is equipped with a 10.4″ full graphical display and a wheel navigation system that easily allows you to scroll through even the largest of music collections at the spin of a finger.

The BeoSound 5 Encore can either be wall mounted or positioned on either the floor or a table, and has been designed with its permanent sockets hidden for concealed cabling, and up to eight BeoSound 5 Encores can be connected to a single server. The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5 Encore’s also allows you to play different music content in different rooms at the same time. Watch the promotional video after the jump to see it in action.

Yesterday we featured some cool wooden iPhone cases, today we have some cool wooden iPhone and iPad docks which have been hand crafted from reclaimed wood.

As you can see from the photos below there are two different types of docks available, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad, and each one has been handcrafted from a variety of different reclaimed wood.

New Samsung Android QWERTY Slider Coming To AT&T

It looks like Samsung and AT&T have a new Android smartphone in the works, that will feature a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a large touchscreen display, as the guys over at the BGR have obtained a render of a new device that is made by Samsung and is headed for AT&T.

As you can see in the photo below this new Android device features a slide out QWERTY keyboard and it also features a four button Android layout at the bottom of the display.

Facebook Blocking Leaked iPad App

Yesterday the guys over at Tech Crunch discovered that Facebook’s much anticipated iPad app was actually available in their Facebook iPhone app, and it could be activated with a few modifications.

Well it looks like Facebook doesn’t want people to use the Facebook iPad app until they officially release it, and it would appear that Facebook has now blocked the app, and the workaround to get it running no longer works.

Assassin’s Creed Embers Animated Movie Arriving November 2011(video)

Ubisoft has announced that it will be releasing a short animated movie called Assassin’s Creed Embers, the short movie will be released alongside the launch of the third game in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Revelations in November 2011.

Amazon’s Kindle App Now Offers 100 Newspaper & Magazine Subscriptions

Amazon has rolled out a new update to its Kindle iOS application in response to Apple’s new terms and conditions banning any applications linking to external sites, such as Amazon’s Kindle store.

The update has now removed the Kindle Store button from the app, but also introduces over 100 newspapers and magazines including, The Economist and Reader's Digest complete with high resolution colour images.

Dell Launches Ultrasharp U2412M 24 Inch IPS Monitor

Dell has added a new monitor to their Ultrasharp range with the launch of the Dell U24212M monitor which features a 24 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.

The new Dell 24 inch monitor features an IPS LED backlit display, and it comes with a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, and features 1 DVI, 1 DisplayPort, 1VGA port, and 5 USB ports.

HTC Want To Negotiate Patent Dispute With Apple

Recently an ITC judge ruled in Apple’s favor in the patent case between Apple and HTC, the last thing we heard from HTC was that they were going to appeal the ITC ruling.

Now HTC has been talking to Bloomberg, and the company has said that they are prepared to enter discussions with Apple over the possible patent infringements on Apple’s iOS devices.

Apple Releases iOS 4.3.5 Update

About 10 days ago Apple released the iOS 4.3.4 update which was designed to fix a security flaw in Safari, and now Apple has released another update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, iOS 4.3.5.

The new iOS 4.3.5 update is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and iPad 2 as well as the third and fourth generation iPod Touch, and it is another security update for iOS devices.

Sandisk Announces New Ultra SSD Range For Consumers

Sandisk has launched a new range of solid state drives, which are designed to be used in older computers and notebooks the Sandisk Ultra SSDs, and Sandisk are aiming these new SSDs at consumers.

The new Sandisk Ultra SSDs are available in three different sizes of 60GB, 120GB and40GB and the feature reported read speeds of up to 280MB a second and write speeds of up to 270MB a second.

Google Adds Extra EXIF Info To Photographs

If you enjoy viewing photographs on Flickr and use the extra EXIF information listed with each image like the exposure, focal length and others to improve your own photography skills. You will be please to know as from this week Google is now be displaying the same EXIF information next to images within its Google Image search service.

The information is displayed as clicking the results and includes Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) specification data, detailing the camera used to take the shot, settings, focal length, flash usage and exposure bias. Together with the copyright and usage rights associated with the image by the person who created or edited the image.

LG Thrill Hits AT&T For $99.99 In The Coming Weeks

The last thing we heard about the LG Thrill was that it would launch on AT&T sometime in the summer, and now it looks like it will be available within the next few weeks and it will retail for $99.99 when you sign up to a new two year contract with AT&T.

The LG Thrill is the AT&T branded version of LG’s Optimus 3D, and it comes with a 4.3 inch 3D display that can display 3D content without the need for 3D glasses, it will come with Android 2.2.

Yesterday we heard a rumor that the possible iPhone 5 launch date would be the 5th of September, now there is more evidence which points to an early September release of the iPhone 5.

According to a recent report by the BGR, US mobile carrier AT&T are getting ready for the launch of the iPhone 5, and it is expected to be announced by Apple at the end of August and go on sale in early September.

Yesterday we heard that RIM were cutting 2,000 jobs, shortly after the announcement they tweeted that they would be launching some new BlackBerry 7 OS devices today.

RIM hasn’t as yet given any details on what devices will be announced, we hope that RIM also announces when the new BlackBerry 7 OS devices will go on sale at the same time.

God of War Master Collection Confined To Germany For The Moment

Try was we might, we just can’t figure out a good reason for the God of War Master Collection to only be available in the most censorious, violence-averse country on this or any other planet. PlayStation Vita Online Modes Revealed

To be perfectly honest, we were sort of wondering when the scuttlebut on the Vita’s revamped online modes would hit the grapevine, if only because we knew Sony would have to bring out a few new tricks to compete with the 3DS’s awesome Street Pass. Apparently, they knew it too, which is why they just simply showed up with their take on Street Pass, among a few other things.
