Robotic Tentacle Is Alien Creepy

An elite team of scientists from Italy and other places are developing a flexible robotic tentacle for conceptual purposes. ‘Conceptual’ because we can’t really say what it’s going to be sued for—a giant octopus for rescuing people, perhaps? White iPod Touch Parts Leaked

The guys over at 9 to 5 Mac have received some photos of parts that are reported to be for a white version of the iPod Touch, which means that if these are real Apple parts Apple will launch a white version alongside the black version of the new iPod Touch in the fall.

The new iPod Touch is expected to debut at the same time as the iPhone 5 and Apple’s iOS 5 in September and it will probably come with Apple’s A5 processor.

Nintendo Launches 3D Video Service On Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo has today launched its new 3D video service for Nintendo 3DS users bringing exclusive 3D video content to the games console with short 3D videos from the worlds of music, comedy, animation and Hollywood.

The new 3D video movies are available from Nintendo’s online store and currently includes a movie trailer for Captain America. The new store has four video slots at the current time that will be updated with new clips of the coming weeks at irregular intervals.

Flipphandle Enables Bike Handlebars To Fold Inline With Frame

If you are short of a little bike storage space and need to make the most of every little bit you have. A new device called the Flipphandle might be able to help provide just a little extra, by enabling you to twist your handle bars 90 degrees inline with your frame without the need for any allen keys or spanners.

Flipphandle has been designed by Alejandro Lacreu to help solve the problem of storing bikes in small, narrow spaces and is currently looking to make the jump form concept to production over on the Kickstarter website.

We have already seen one photo of the new AndyPad budget tablet, although ti wasn’t a very good one, some new ones have now appeared online and we finally get a look at what this budget Android tablet looks like

Google Working On Chrome For OS X Lion

If you have upgraded to OS X Lion on your Mac and have been a Google Chrome user, then you will probably have found out that Google’s Chrome browser doesn’t run as well on Lion as it did on Snow Leopard.

Jot Adonit Capacitive Touch Stylus (video)

and is currently making its way from conceptual idea to production on the Kickstarter website. Unlike other stylus designs for capacitive touch tablets the Jot has a very small nib measuring just 2 mm wide, providing the “precision of a calligrapher or the stroke of an artist”.

Around the nib of the Jot stylus is a clear disk which has been designed to provide the accuracy and precision that other stylus cant. Jot is constructed from aluminum and steel to provide it with superior conductivity and craftsmanship comparable to any luxury pen.

Motorola Droid Bionic Photos Leaked

The last thing we heard about the Motorola Droid Bionic was that it would go on sale in August, and now it would appear Amazon has leaked some new photos of the Droid Bionic along with a range of docks that will be available for the handset.

Both a car dock and also a desktop dock have been leaked in the photos and it also shows what the final design of the Droid Bionic will look like, assuming Motorola doesn’t change it before it goes on sale.

Google Closes Google Toolbar Support For Firefox 5+ Browsers

Google has today announced that it will be closing down support of its Google Toolbar for users using Firefox version 5 and above. Instead of using the Google Toolbar, Google now offers a list of plugins that should provide a similar functionality.

So if you use Firefox version 5 or newer, you will no longer be able to use Google Toolbar and now Google Toolbar for Firefox is only compatible with Firefox version 4 or older.

Panasonic’s Android E-Book Reader Announced

Some of our readers will remember Panasonic’s Android e-book reader prototype that we showed you a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like Panasonic has just announced it in Japan and it is now called the Panasonic Raboo UT-PB1.

The Panasonic Raboo UT-PB1 features a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, processing is provided by a dual core processor and it also comes with8GB of built in storage, although only 4.5GB is available for storage.

Adobe Joins Apple’s Mac Store, Offering Photoshop Elements 9 Editor

Even with the bickering between Adobe and Apple regards Flash hardware and OS X Lion integration. Adobe has this week managed to add one of its products to Apple’s Mac App Store in the form of Photoshop Elements 9 Editor for Mac.

Adobe’s Photoshop Elements 9 Editor is a cut down version of Adobe’s flagship product Photoshop and has been designed to work in conjunction with Apple’s iPhoto application and contains over 50 tools for selecting cropping, painting, typing, retouching and adjusting.

Google’s new social networking platform Google+, has only been available in its invitation only form for a number of weeks, but has already clocked up a following of over 20 million users. Now Google is preparing to launch its new Google+ games service which is surely going to worry its main competitor Facebook.

Google has already decided to buck the trend with developers and will take less than a 30 percent commission from developers, rather than the traditional 30 percent commission which has been set by Facebook and Apple.

Verizon Clearing iPhone Inventory, Getting Ready For iPhone 5?

We pretty much know that the iPhone 5 is coming in September, Apple all but confirmed it in their recent quarterly earnings call, and now it looks like a number of mobile operators are preparing for the iPhone 5 launch.

According to the guys over at Phone Arena, Verizon Wireless are clearing out their inventory of the iPhone 4, and it would appear that the company has started to discount certain accessory bundles for the iPhone 4, which is a good indication that they are getting ready for the iPhone 5.

Sony Kills Off 8MM Video

Sony seems to be on a roll at the moment in terms of the technology it is killing off, first we had the cassette Walkman which it put and end to last year and recently they also out an end to their MiniDisc Walkmans.

Now Sony has announced that it will no longer be supporting the 8MM video format, which was originally developed by Sony and a number of other companies which include Polaroid and the format was established in the 1980s.

Steam Keys Can Be Activated On EA Origin

It has been discovered that Steam game keys can now be activated on Origin, EA’s digital distribution platform the Steam alternative for EA games. PC Gamer has discovered the activation of Steam keys is possible and has tested it on a number of games which had been originally bought on Steam.

These include: Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2, Alice: Madness Returns and Dragon Age 2 but more EA games are expected to allow a similar process.

Ubisoft Introduces “Castle Empire” Its Free Online Strategy Game (video)

Olympus PEN Lite E-PL3 Pricing Announced

Olympus announced its new range of PEN cameras at the end of last month, although they didn’t give us any pricing information, one of the models that was announced was the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL3, and Olympus has now revealed that it will go on sale in ‘late summer’ here in the UK for £549.99 with a 14-42mm II R zoom Lens.

The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL3 will be available in a range of different colors which includes, white, black, silver and red, and it features a new 12 megapixel Live MOS sensor with Olympus's new imaging engine, it also features in-body image stabilization.

Official Star Wars R2-D2 Limited Edition Xbox 360 Revealed

Adobe Backtracks On Apple Disabling Flash Hardware Acceleration

Adobe has today admitted thats its claims about Apple disabling hardware acceleration in its latest OS X Lion are not true and are now confirming that the latest release of OS X Lion provides the same support for Flash hardware video acceleration as Mac OS X Snow Leopard did.

Adobe have now reversed their claims and say their results which prompted the hardware acceleration outcry about Apple’s OS X Lion were based on misinterpreting results from a pre-beta release of the OS X Lion build released by Apple.

HTC Wildfire S Hits T-Mobile August 3rd

US mobile carrier T-Mobile has announced that the HTC Wildfire S will be available on their network from the 3rd of August, and the Wildfire S will be available for $79.99 when you sign up to a new two year contract with the carrier.

The HTC Wildfire S features a 3,2 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and it will come with Android Gingerbread 2.3 and the latest version of HTC Sense UI.

2011 MacBook Air Gets Taken Apart

Apple released the new 2011 MacBook Air on Wednesday, as usual with any new hardware release from Apple, the guys over at iFixit had their screwdrivers ready to take it apart.

This time it is the turn of the new 2011 MacBook Air, and in the photos below we get to see the inside of the new MacBook Air, and the iFixit guys found out that the MacBook Air SSD isn’t soldered to the logic board, this means it should be pretty easy to upgrade the SSD in the MacBook Air.

Lodsys Sues Rovio Mobile Over Angry Birds For Android And iPhone

We have heard much about Lodsys, the company who has been suing smaller Android and iOS developers, the last thing we heard was that Apple was intervening in the case between Lodsys and the developers.

We’re definitely not contesting the awesomeness of including the Nightmare on Elm Street character, it’s just the randomness we have something against. Yeah, he may have those badass scars and metal claws and whatnot, but what exactly is the connection, justification or indeed even rationale for having him in Mortal Kombat in the first place?
