Samsung NC215S solar netbook won’t Ship Until August

Yesterday I mentioned that the cool Samsung NC215S netbook had hit pre-order on Amazon. I also noted that the netbook didn’t have a specific time that it would ship noted. As it turns out the reason for the omission in ship date on Amazon is because the netbook is delayed.

When it’s constructed , of course. It’s all a matter of infrastructure. Physical infrastructure that adds to the total cost of $2.1 billion. The money’s about ready, but construction is schedule to begin at an undisclosed date. Though the deadline is 2020. By 2020, the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope will be operational and processing 1.5 petabytes of data. That’s no joke as it’s bigger than the internet. So what’s the SKA for? Searching for alien life and other great quests like dark matter, etc.

HP TouchPad 4G For AT&T Announced

AT&T and HP have announced the HP TouchPad 4G, and it will come with a faster processor than the original HP TouchPad, the original HP TouchPad featured a 1.2GHz processors, whilst the new AT&T HP TouchPad 4G will feature a 1.5GHz processor.

Other specifications on the HP TouchPad 4G include a 9.7 inch Touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, plus 512MB of RAM and it will come with 32GB of built in storage.

BlackBerry App World Reaches 1 Billion Downloads

RIM has announced that their BlackBerry App World platform has now reached a total of 1 billion downloads, and that BlackBerry owners are now downloading over 3 million apps per day.

RIM Prepares To Launch 7 New Smartphones This Year

In an attempt to turn the tide on RIM’s current dwindling business and recover from the failed launch of their Blackberry Playbook which has now been shelved. RIM is now focusing on redesigning their Blackberry smartphone handsets with the announcement at an annual RIM meeting yesterday that RIM will be launching seven new smartphones this year.

The seven new phones will be rolling out over the next few months and will come equipped with a totally brand new operating system according to RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie.

Amazon Kindle 3G AT&T Sponsored Version Announced For $139

Amazon already launched an sponsored version of their WiFi Kindle earlier in the year which is available for a reduced price and comes with adverts, and now they have also announced a 3G spored version of the Kindle 3, called the Kindle 3G with Special Offers.

The Kindle 3G with Special Offers comes with a data connections from US mobile carrier AT&T,m and there are no monthly fees or connection charges for the connection, instead the new Kindle 3G with Special Offers is supported by adverts, and it will retail for $139.

Nokia Releases New Symbian Anna Demo (Video)

Sony S2 Tablet Will Be AT&T Exclusive In The US

Sony’s new S2 tablet will be arriving as an exclusive with AT&T in the US its been announced today. The new S2 tablet is Sony’s new dual screen, foldable tablet which will be arriving later this year, and was first showcased back in April this year.

The Sony S2 tablet is equipped with a dual 5.5-inches displays with a resolution of 1024 × 480 which then unfold to combine and create one large screen and will be powered by a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and run Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

Microscale Film Could Replace Guitar Pickups In The Future

If you have played or ever tried to play the guitar you will already know how hard it is to reproduce the exact sounds created by your favourite guitarist on your own guitar, due to the variations in strings and pressure applied whilst playing.

However a new microscale piezoresistive film has now been developed by engineers in the German Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST which can now control and translate complex guitar playing movements in to recordable digital control signals.

Google+ Receives More Flexible Address Book Import Feature (video)

Microsoft Ends Support For Windows Vista SP1

Yesterday Microsoft announced that they would stop supporting Windows XP within the next 3 years, and now it looks like it is Vista’s turn next, as Microsoft has announced it will stop supporting Windows Vista SP1.

Users will have to upgrade to Windows Vista SP2 to continue receiving support on the OS, although Microsoft suggests it would be better for you to upgrade to Windows 7.

Motorola’s New 10 Inch Tablet To Feature An HD Display?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Coming To AT&T

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is already available in the US with Verizon Wireless, and now it looks like the Xperia Play is also headed to AT&T, although as yet there is no exact date on when the Xperia Play will be available with AT&T.

AT&T recently showed off the Xperia Play at their holiday preview event in NYC, although they didn’t give an exact launch date we would suspect the Xperia Play would be available from AT&T before the holiday shopping season.

LG Optimus Net P690 Android Smartphone

LG has launched a new Android smartphone the LG Optimus Net P690, which is designed to be a budget device which will retail for about 199 Euros in Europe, and it is the follow up to the original LG Optimus One.

The LG Optimus Net features a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display, plus Android 2.3 Gingerbread, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0, and it looks like it will be available in Italy at first.

AOL Music Launches iPhone PLAY App

After launching their PLAY application on Android some time ago, AOL have now launched a new iOS version for the iPhone, iPod and iPad marketing it as an "Instagram for music" app.

Apple Getting Ready For OS X Lion Launch, Schedules iTunes Maintenance

We are expecting Apple to release OS X Lion tomorrow, Thursday the 14th of July, and now it looks like there is more evidence that OS X Lion will be available from the Mac App Store tomorrow.

According to the guys over at 9 to 5 Mac, a number of developers have been told by Apple that iTunes Connect will be undergoing scheduled maintenance today from 9am Pacific Time to 4pm Pacific Time, and developers won’t be able to submit apps during this time.

Microsoft Says No Windows Phone 7 Tablets

We know that Microsoft’s Windows 8 will feature a tablet friendly user interface, but it isn’t expected to launch until the end of 2012, so what does that mean for Windows and tablets in the meantime, well it looks like we wont see Windows Phone 7 on tablets at any point in the future.

Microsoft’s Windows Phone president, Andy Lees, confirmed at the Microsoft Worldwide Partners Conference, that we wouldn’t see Windows Phone 7 on any tablets and the reason he gave is that Microsoft see the tablet as a PC rather than just a mobile device.

iOS 5 Bringing Bluetooth Support to Apple TV?

Code has been discovered in the latest iOS 5 developer beta code released by Apple, which could indicate that when launched in the Autumn iOS 5 might bring with it Bluetooth support to Apple’s second generation Apple TV device. Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo Photo Leaked

We saw a leaked photo of the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo last month, and now it looks like some more press shots have been leaked of what is rumored to be Sony Ericsson’s flagship smartphone that is due to launch later this year, and will come with Android Gingerbread.

Google Releases Short Teaser Video For Its New Photovine Photo Sharing Service (video)

Phillips Unveils Its New GoGear Muse 3 PMP

Phillips has this week unveiled their third version of its GoGear Muse portable media player which now comes equipped with SoundSafe technology. The new GoGear Muse 3 sports smoother lines than the previous version with rounded corners and a 3.2 touchscreen.

iLuv have unveiled a new iPad speaker case they have just added to their ipad case range in the form of the iSP210 MusicPac which is equipped with a slim external stereo speaker, enabling  you to listen to music while your iPad or iPad 2 is safely zipped up within the case.

The iSP210 MusicPac is powered by 4 AA batteries and to connect the case to your iPad you simply insert a headphone lead from the case into the iPad’s headphone 3.5 mm jack.

Facebook has launched a new mobile phone application this week which has been designed to support 2,500 different mobile devices. The new Facebook for Every Phone application has been created to allow Facebook users to enjoy the experience of using Facebook what their location maybe or how they access our site.

The new Facebook App includes Facebook's most popular features, such as its Inbox, News and Photos, but also includes features which enables you to upload photos and find friends from your phone's contacts list.

Google Adds A Spam Filter To Its Google Voice Service

Google has announced a new feature it has just added to its Google Voice service which will help you combat those lovely telemarketing firms which leave those fantastic spammy messages on your Google Voice account.

If you are already a user of Google Voice the “Report Spam”  button is probably already well know to you, but Google has now added a new spam filtering system in the back ground which will automatically remove and block any unwanted spam telephone calls without them ever making it to your phone. In a similar way your Gmail account filters your unwanted spam emails.

Evernote Arrives On Android Tablets

If you enjoy using the note taking application Evernote on your other devices and have been patiently waiting for it to arrive on your Android tablet you will be pleased to know that your wait is now over and an Evernote Tablet version has today arrived in the Android Market.

The new Android Evernote takes the application in a new direction and the interface showcases the direction which the company is hoping to take its other tablets applications in the future says Evernote.

Google’s Android Market For Mobiles Gets A New Design (Video)

Microsoft To End Support For Windows XP In Under 3 Years

It looks like Microsoft has announced when they will be killing off Windows XP, or when they will no longer offer support for the platform, and it looks like Windows XP will be retired in just under 3 years.

Microsoft announced on the 11th of July that they would withdraw support for Windows XP in 1,000 Days, and the official end date for Windows XP is the 14th of April 2014.

HTC Finally Has Some Desire Z Gingerbread News

It turns out HTC lied back in May and the Desire Z Gingerbread update wasn’t coming by the end of June.  Seeing the impending self-imposed deadline approaching and knowing they wouldn’t meet it, HTC promptly sprang into action and did absolutely nothing for two weeks. It kindly just issued an announcement on its Romanian Facebook page, however, that Gingerbread may possibly be coming in the next few weeks, end of the  month tops. Which in HTC time probably means early November.

Honeycomb 3.2 Hits Motorola Xoom, LTE To Follow

Or at least that’s the word coming down the grapevine from the good old FCC, though you will apparently have to wait a bit more to actually see either update on your very own tablet. The update will also bring along that zoom to fill the screen feature that should allow older apps full use of the Xoom’s 1280×800 10-incher.

Battlefield 3 May Not Make It To Steam

We’re not privy to the goings-on between EA and Steam that led to Crysis 2′s removal and reinstatement, but what we do know is that Steam is suspiciously absent from a list of digital distribution platforms for Battlefield 3 that EA has recently released.  Definitely no connection there, publishers routinely omit the single largest PC digital distribution market share holder off their lists. Happens all the time.

Electronic Arts Buys PopCap For $750 Million

Looks like EA is on schedule with the huge purchase of the year and purveyors of plants, zombies and exploding jewels are next on the auction block. ”EA and PopCap are a compelling combination,” according to EA CEO John Riccitiello. “PopCap’s great studio talent and powerful IP add to EA’s momentum and accelerate our drive towards a $1 billion digital business.
