Acer Unveils Two New Pico Projectors C110 And C112 Posted: 11 Jul 2011 08:24 AM PDT Acer has today released information and specifications for two new pico projectors it will soon be launching into the UK market, the Acer C110 (bottom) and C112 (top). The Acer C110 pico-projector needs just a single USB cable to be used, removing the need to carry any power supply or adapter, it also weighs just 175 g and measures 110 x 85 x 25mm in size. The C110 is capable of projecting a display size from 30cm to 254cm with a WVGA 854×480 resolution and native 16:9 format together with a 1000:1 contrast ratio combining DLP technology with LED lamp technology. Apple Files Another ITC Complaint Against HTC Posted: 11 Jul 2011 07:28 AM PDT Apple has filed another complaint against rival smartphone maker HTC with the International Trade Commission (ITC), the latest filing was made on the 8th of July, the first one was filed back in March 2010. The original ITC filing was relating to 10 different patents, and the details of the latest filing haven’t been made available yet, but as Foss Patents point out it could be the same 5 patents which Apple just filed an ITC complaint against Samsung for. As expected from Apple its not going to just allow you to slide or bump devices together to transfer photos or data but is looking at something more funkier. Fujitsu latest FLEPia colour device is still under development and still has a few areas that need to be worked out before a solid commercial solution can be released using the next generation technology. HDMI to Mini DisplayPort Cables Deemed Illegal And Needed To Be Recalled Posted: 11 Jul 2011 03:34 AM PDT This week the HDMI Org has issued a blow to manufacturers of Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables saying that the product is unlicensed and should not be sold, requesting the cables be recalled and manufacturing stopped. The Mini DisplayPort is extensively used by Apple throughout its range of systems, together with Toshiba and a few other manufacturers. In an interview with the Tech Radar website the HDMI Org explained the reason behind their decision and why the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables are illegal, saying that the HDMI specification defines an HDMI cable as having only HDMI connectors on either end. Concrete Speakers And Coffee Makers Posted: 11 Jul 2011 02:58 AM PDT Israeli designer Shmuel Linski has created a pair of hefty speakers constructed from concrete, which weigh in at 123 lbs a pair. The speakers are not the first designs Linski has created from concrete and before putting his designs skills to audio equipment created a coffee maker and a canoe from the material. The speakers don’t provide sound in the same way a traditional speaker would, as they don’t resonate sound from the material itself, but use a 38 inch pipe inside the speaker to feed the sound from the top and around the cone. The .co.cc is not an officially authorised second-level domain like .co.uk, but just a domain name which is owned by a Korean company that is offering and sells subdomains for it. These subdomains are often registered in bulk and commonly used to distribute malware and spam. HTC has now confirmed that they will start to release unlocked bootloaders for a number of Android smartphones from August, and the first devices to get the unlocked bootloaders will be the HTC Sensation, the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC EVO 3D. Apple Going After GetJar For Using App Store Name Posted: 10 Jul 2011 11:13 PM PDT Last week we heard that Apple were denied an injunction against Amazon for Amazon using the term App Store for their mobile application download service for Android, of course this isn’t the end of the matter and a court case will take place to determine whether Apple should be allowed exclusive use of the App Store term in October. Apple holds a number of trademarks for the term App Store, and now it looks like it is going after another mobile application store, GetJar, who also provide mobile downloads for Google’s Android platform and other mobile platforms.
