Ricoh Acquires Pentax’s Digicam Business For Expansion Plans Posted: 01 Jul 2011 07:39 AM PDT It has been confirmed today that Ricoh has purchased Pentax’s Digicam business from its current owners Tokyo-based Hoya group. According to reports the sale is worth around $124 million for Pentax and details have been issued in a PDF from Hoya. Ricoh plans to expand its already existing but relatively small camera business which sold around 1.6 million cameras last year but lacks DSLR products. By developing the Pentax single-lens reflex range to enter markets in developing countries. New WiFi SleepWell Technology Doubles Device Battery Life Posted: 01 Jul 2011 03:11 AM PDT WiFi communications from your mobile device can eat through your battery life fairly quickly and this is magnified considerably if more devices are using the same hotspot, as a queue is then formed with each device waiting for its turn to download data. This waiting in line method tends to burn even more battery life from your device as it needs to stay awake while waiting its turn. Now a new system named “SleepWell’ has been developed by a Duke University graduate student which is looking to double the battery life of mobile devices. The new system allows devices to sleep while waiting for their turn, hence saving their battery life and the battery life of the device currently downloading data.
