Toshiba Thrive Tablet Spotted in Best Buy

Samsung has some of the best alternatives to the iPad on the tablet market. The company has Android for the OS on its tablets and has a lot of people waiting for its smaller screen Thrive tablet to hit stores. We heard earlier this week that July 10 was the launch date. Xbox 360 Cloud Game Saves Goes Live

Microsoft has this week announced the launch of its new Xbox 360 cloud game saves feature, that was first showcased back in E3 earlier this year. The new feature enables you to now store your game save data within the cloud and access it from any Xbox 360 console.

The service which has now been rolled out is available for a number of select Xbox Live Arcade games, and allows you to save your game data and resume it on any Xbox 360 console. Putting an end to the need for game cards, memory units and SUB drives to save and transport your data.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Coming Today

Sprint has announced that it will start rolling out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab today, and the update will be rolled out it batches, so we have no idea who sill get the update today.

Sprint have said that the Gingerbread 2.3 update will be rolled out to all Galaxy Tab devices over the next four days, which should mean that everyone will get the update before the weekend.

Skype 5.2 For Mac Released

Skype has released a new version of Skype for Mac, the latest release is version 5.2 and it comes with a range of new features which include the ability to share presentations, photos and documents during a group video call.

Other new features in Skpe 5.2 for Mac include a new update call control bar with video, and now you don’t have to switch back to full screen mode to carry on a video call in Skype, you can just minimize Skype and continue your video call whilst working with other programs on your Mac.

Playstation 4 To Feature Kinect Style Full-Body Motion Tracking?

Following in the footsteps of Microsoft Xbox 360 and their Kinect controllers Sony’s next Playstation 4 console could have full-body motion tracking according to a report by the Taiwan based Digitimes.

Sony has already officially confirmed that a new Playstation 4 is currently under development, when Sony's executive vice president and CFO, Masaru Kato revealed the information in a recent conference call to investors. With the launch of the new Sony Playstation 4 expected to be sometime in 2012 according to Taiwan-based component makers.

The Verbalizer, Open Source Board For Google Voice Search (Video)

The Verbalizer is a open source board which is designed to be used with Google Voice search, and it was created by the guys from Breakfast in New York, who wanted to make an open source dev board that people could use with Google’s Voice search.

The Verbalizer connects to your computer wirelessley via Bluetooth, and when it is activated, The Verbalizer will open Google.com in your browser and activate Google’s voice search, have a look at the video of it in action below.

HP dv6z Quad Edition AMD Llano-Based Chip Laptop

This week HP has updated its Pavilion range with the addition of their top spec new HP dv6z Quad Edition laptops which are fitted with AMD’s faster Llano-based chips and have processor options from 1.4GHz quad A6-3400M up to a 1.9GHz A8-3530MX. Which when tweaked via AMD's Turbo technology can reach 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz respectively.

Motorola Droid Bionic Coming August 4th?

The last thing we heard about the Motorola Droid Bionic is that it would go on sale some time this summer, and now it looks like we may have a possible date, according to Android Central it will launch on Verizon on the 4th of August.

The Motorola Droid Bionic features a dual core 1GHz processor, plus 512MB of RAM, there is also a 4.3 inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

Powershovel CLAP Digital Camera

The Powershovel CLAP digital camera is the creation of Japanese design studio Powershovel, and as you can see from the photos below, this tiny digital camera features a minimalistic design.

The Powershovel Clap measures just 1.4 inches by 2.8 inches by 0.89 inches and weighs in at just 24g, and it features a 2 megapixel F2.8 (3.2mm) lens, and it can take photos in a 1280 x 1024 resolution and record video in 720 x 480 resolution.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare : Star Wars Galactic Warfare Mod Launches

If you are a big fan of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Star Wars you might already have heard of the Star Wars Mod: Galactic Warfare mod which has been in development since 2009. Well, the new mod is finally finished and has now bee released, converting your Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game in to  full blown Star Wars battleground.

Within the game you can play as either a trooper of the Imperial Forces or as a soldier from the Rebel Alliance in a number of different locations from Star Wars. Watch the video after the break to see a little gameplay.

HP ‘s WebOS Roadmap Reveals New Touchpad Tablets

It looks like HP has some new versions of its TouchPad tablets in the works as well as some new webOS smartphones, as their roadmap  has been leaked which reveals that their will be a 64GB TouchPad tablet in August as well as a 4G version.

On top of that it looks like the HP Pre3 will launch in the fall along with the HP Opal, which is rumored to be a 7 inch webOS based tablet, although there really aren’t many other details on it beyond that.

South Korea Plans To Swap Textbooks For Tablets In Schools By 2015

The Ministry of Education in South Korea has announced that they intend to digitize all text books in schools by 2015, thus removing textbooks from schools and replacing them with digital books.

The plan is that the digital books will be stored in the cloud and the students will be able to access from from a wide range of digital devices, from tablets to computers and smart TVs.

Google+ iPhone App Awaiting Apple’s Approval

When Google launched their new social sharing service Google+ they also launched a Google+ Android app and we heard there was also an iPhone version in the works.

It looks like the Google+ iPhone and iPad app should be available any day now, as a Google employee, Erica Joy has revealed that Google has submitted the Google+ iPhone app to Apple for approval and it should be available shortly.

Facebook Blocks Google+ Friend Exporter

Facebook already seems to be digging in its heals to try and stop a migration of its users to the new Google+ social service launched by Google last week. By blocking a neat Chrome extension that allowed Facebook users to export their friends from Facebook to Google.

The “Facebook Friend Exporter” Chrome browser extension created by Mohamed Mansour allowed Facebook you to extract emails of those people you are linked to within Facebook. The creator of the extension spotted that Facebook had begun to remove friends' email addresses from users' profiles in an attempt to stop any export and transfer to another social network.

Toshiba Qosmio F750 3D Laptop Announced

Toshiba has added another laptop to their range with the launch of the Toshiba Qosmio F750 3D laptop, which features a new glasses free 3D HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Processing is provided by an Intel Core i7 processor and there is also NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics with up to 2GB of RAM, a 640GB hdd and up to 6GB of DDR3 RAM.

Exclusive Sneak Peek At New Thundercats

If you’re going omg! omg! after reading the title of this post, then by all means,  visually consume every tasty morsel of the nine minute Thundercats segment embedded after the jump.

We have to remind you though, the new (read: sexified) Thundercats of 2011 look a bit less buff than the original. They still got cheesy names though. Liono?

So as not to spoil your expectations further, the video below is basically 1/4th of the premier episode that’s due on Cartoon Network at month’s end. It’s got fights, inane dialogue, more fights (along the lines of Naruto), a giant tree, and assorted martial arts mayhem. And yes, lest we forget–cat people with pointy ears.

Foursquare Releases New Windows Phone 7 App

After issues with Foursquare’s first attempt at launching a Windows Phone 7 application, which ended in the application being pulled from the Microsoft Market. The companies developers have now partnered with Microsoft to create a new version which Foursquare have just re-released to Windows Phone 7 users.

After conducting tests and collecting samples from the (Pacific) ocean floor, researchers from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth and Sciences have published their findings and its pretty exciting. According to them, the mud of the Pacific Ocean revealed sizable deposits of rare earth minerals. If their estimates are credible, the Pacific Ocean is indeed full of rare earth goodness and its total deposits would be tonnage in the hundreds of billions. Perhaps more.

Apple Lion OS X Will Come With License-Free Virtualisation To Run Multiple Copies On The Same Machine

When Apple’s new Lion OS X releases later this month a new feature within the OS X client version will now allow multiple virtual copies to run on the same machine. A feature that was only previously enabled on the Mac OS X Server software edition.

The new EULA for Lion OS X 10.7 will now enable users to be able to run one or two virtual Mac instances on each physical Mac using already existing Virtualisation software such as VirtualBox, Parallels and Fusion.

Iriver P8 Personal Media Player Unveiled

A new IRIVER personal media player (PMP) has been spotted on their Russian website this week, in the form of the new iriver P8 PMP. According to the details on the site the new PMP comes in either 8 or 16GB and is equipped with a 5″ WVGA touchscreen 800 x 480 resolution, 16.7 million colours.

Its also equipped with an internal 3440 mAh battery capable of providing up to 9 hours of continuous video playback and has 1080p via a HDMI out port, and a massive 40 hours of continuous playback for audio.

Now why didn’t anyone think of this before? Seen below is a real clever concept for a Darth Vader-inspired hairdryer. Word is if you displease it, the hairdryer will do a choke hold. Okay, we made that up. It’s actually unclear if the Imperial March blasts out of the fan as you dry your hair, but at least you can imagine it playing. If you happen to have a pet dog with the hair of a wookie, this dryer would be a perfect match to emphasize your devotedness to anything touched y the genius of Lucas.

Apple Orders 15 Million iPhone 5′s According To Supplier

We have been hearing more and more rumors that the iPhone 5 will launch in September at the same time as iOS 5, and now according to a recent report from DigiTimes, Apple has ordered 15 million iPhone 5′s from Pegatron technology.

Pegatron has declined to comment on whether they will be supplying the iPhone 5, although there are reports that a number of companies have already started shipping parts for the iPhone 5 to Pegatron.

VFD Round Clock Looks Like It Came From The Future

That’s VFD as in Vacuum Fluorescent Display. What does the VFD have better than your average clock face? Not much, except it looks like the clock itself was made from the body parts of a dead cyborg. That seems to be the theme for the VFD Round Clock, a straightforward timepiece powered by a small circuit board and encased in acrylic. Despite the cool factor-and the bragging rights that it was made from cyborg parts–the VFD has little else going for it except, well, it’s an alarm clock too. And no, it’s not made up of cyborg parts.

Homeless Dude Thrown In Slammer For Juicing His Phone

The good news is he’s been released. The awful news is the implications–does charging your phone outside a privately owned building make you a target for police scrutiny?

For 23 year old Shawn Fawster this is exactly what happened. One moment the homeless and unemployed young man was charging his phones (two, in fact) the next he was in custody. Fawster was thrown in the slammer for possession of a concealed weapon and subsequently released on bail. (That’s not him in the picture below, by the way.)
