One industry watcher thinks that Apple is planning to release a smaller version of its iPad tablet shortly after the next-generation iPhone launches this fall. | Apple Wins European Ban On Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Posted: 24 Jul 2012 02:48 AM PDT More bad news for Samsung this morning, as Apple has won a European ban on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7.7 Android tablet in a German court, and the ban apparently applies to the whole of Europe and not just Germany. According to a recent report by the Next Web, an appeals court in Germany has rejected Samsung’s appeal that the tablet ban should only apply in Germany and has now extended the ban to the whole of the EU.

| Nokia Finalizes Scalado Imaging Technology Acquisition Posted: 24 Jul 2012 02:39 AM PDT Back in June we heard that Nokia was acquiring imaging technology firm Scalado, a company which develops a a range of imaging applications for mobile devices. Nokia had been working with Scalado for 10 years, and they had helped Nokia develop many of their imaging applications for the mobile devices before the acquisition.

Up until now we have not heard anything about Apple’s new iPod Touch, according to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple will launch a new iPod Touch with a 4 inch display this year.

| Samsung Galaxy S III To Get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean In August Posted: 24 Jul 2012 01:56 AM PDT We heard recently that Samsung were testing out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for their new flagship Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III, and now according to a recent report by Sammobile, Samsung are in the final testing stages of the update. This means that the Samsung Galaxy S III could get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update as early as next month, and it looks like a couple of other Samsung devices will also get the update after the Galaxy S III.

| Huawei Fusion 2 Appears At The FCC Posted: 24 Jul 2012 01:23 AM PDT It looks like there is another Android smartphone from Huawei headed to US mobile carrier AT&T as the guys over at Phonescoop have discovered a yet to be announced Huawei device for AT&T at the FCC. The device is the Huawei Fusion 2 and it will be available with AT&T’s GoPhone pre-paid service when it lands on the network, the device comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

There are a total of eight different designs to chose from, and there will be a limited run of between 100 and 150 of each design, and they come with Swiss movements and a concrete housing.

| Toshiba Regza T-02D Android 4.0 ICS Smartphone Launched In Japan Posted: 24 Jul 2012 12:42 AM PDT Toshiba has launched their latest Android smartphone in Japan, the Toshiba Regza T-02D which comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and features a 4.3 inch AMOLED Plus touchscreen display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The Toshiba Regza T-02D is powered by a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and it also features 1GB of RAM, and it features a camera sensor from Sony.

| Apple Says Their 3G Isn’t Samsung’s 3G in Patent Case Posted: 23 Jul 2012 11:12 PM PDT Apple and Samsung are battling it out in various courts around the world, the latest patent trial between the two companies is taking place in Australia and now Apple has said that the 3G it is using in its devices is not Samsung’s 3G. According to Apple, because of the way it is implementing the 3G on its devices it does not infringe on Samsung’s patent, Samsung holds a patent for the 3G standard.

| Minecraft Developer Hit With Patent Lawsuit Posted: 23 Jul 2012 10:33 PM PDT There seems to be a lot of patent lawsuits ongoing at the moment, although most of those are between large companies like Apple and Samsung, and now unfortunately the developers of Minecraft have been hit with a patent lawsuit. The lawsuit has been filed against the Minecraft developers by Luxemborg based Uniloc, and the lawsuit has also been filed against a number of other developers of apps for Google’s Android platform.

| Samsung’s YOUM Flexible AMOLED Displays To Go Into Production This Month Posted: 23 Jul 2012 10:13 PM PDT We have been hearing about Samsung’s new flexible AMOLED displays for a while now, the displays are called YOUM and we heard back in May that Samsung had received a large number of orders for these new displays. Now according to a recent report Samsung will start producing their new YOUM flexible AMOLED displays later this month, and each one of the displays measures just 0.6mm thick.

| LG Cayenne Android Smartphone For Sprint Leaked Posted: 23 Jul 2012 10:03 PM PDT We have seen quite a few Android devices leaked over the last week, a number of them have come from an account on Twitter called @evleaks, which now seems to have disappeared. One the the most recent devices which appeared on Twitter was a new Android smartphone from LG which is headed to US mobile carrier Sprint, the LG Cayenne.

| ProView Sued By Law Firm That Helped It get $60 Million Settlement In iPad Lawsuit Posted: 23 Jul 2012 09:44 PM PDT Earlier this month we heard that Apple settled their trademark lawsuit with Proview in China over the iPad name for $60 million US dollars, and now it would appear that ProView are the ones facing the lawsuit this time. The law firm in China that helped ProView reach the $60 million settlement with Apple are now suing ProView for not paying their 4 percent fee of the settlement which works out at around $2.4 million.
