UK Judge Says HTC’s Smartphones Don’t Infringe Apple Patents Posted: 04 Jul 2012 05:20 AM PDT HTC has won a patent ruling in the UK, where Apple was suing HTC for allegedly infringing on some of Apple’s patents, and now a UK Judge has ruled that HTC’s smartphones do not infringe on Apple’s patents. Apple had previously alleged that HTC’s devices infringed on four of their patents related to touchscreen technology, the Judge dealing with the case Christopher Floyd has also said that three of the four patents in question are invalid. If the rumors are correct then Amazon has apparently ordered 2 million units of the Kindle Fire 2 from Chinese Manufacturer Quanta, and the device is expected to launch next month. Toshiba Fined $87 Million For LCD Price Fixing Posted: 03 Jul 2012 11:23 PM PDT Toshiba has been fined a massive $87 million for LCD price fixing, the company was found to be guilty of price fixing by a jury in San Francisco, and the fine is made up of monies to be paid to manufacturers and also consumers. Toshiba has been found liable to the tune of $17 million for manufacturers and $70 million for consumers, although Toshiba has said that it doesn’t expect to pay the fines as other defendants in the lawsuit have already paid settlements which are more than the fine. Google Pulls Galaxy Nexus From Google Play Store Posted: 03 Jul 2012 11:09 PM PDT We recently heard that Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone had been banned from sale in the US, after a recent court ruling, Samsung is appealing the decision, but it looks like Google have now removed the Galaxy Nexus from their Google Play Store. According to the guys over at The Verge, who spoke to Google, the Galaxy Nexus has indeed been removed from sale from the Google Play Store, although Google wouldn’t give any specifics on why it had been removed.
