Asus Eee PC 1225B Netbook Announced

Asus has added another netbook to their line up with the launch of the Asus Eee PC 1225B, and the device comes with an 11.6 inch LED backlit display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

Processing is provided by a dual core AMD Fusion APU E450 1.65GHz processor, and you get a choice of either 2GB or 4GB of DDR3 RAM, plus up to a 750GB HDD.

Google’s Nexus Android Tablet Coming In Six Months

We recently heard that Google are working on their own Android tablet, which is expected to be part of their Nexus range, the news was revealed by Google’s Eric Schmidt.

Now Schmidt has revealed that we will probably see the new Google Nexus tablet launch within the next six months, and he has described the device as the ‘highest quality.

Archos 35 Smart Android Home Phone Headed To The US

The Archos 35 Smart Home Phone was announced earlier in the year and now it would appear that the device may be headed to the US as it has just turned up at the FCC.

As a reminder, the Archos 35 Smart Home Phone comes with a 3.5 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 272 x 480 pixels, processing is provided by a 1GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor and it comes with Android 2.2 Froyo.

Acer Iconia Tab A200 Lands In The UK

Acer recently announced their latest Android tablet, the Acer Iconia Tab A 200, and now it looks like this new Android tablet is available in the UK with online retailer very.co.uk, who have listed the device for £299.

As a reminder the Acer Iconia Tab A200 comes with a 10.1 inch touchscreen display which features a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, there is also a dual core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.

Apple Fined $1.2 Million For Misleading Product Warranties In Italy

Apple has been fined 900,000 Euros in Italy, around $1.2 million, for misleading product warranties by the Italian antitrust authority, who have said hat Apple had mislead consumers on guarantees for its products and also on assistance services.

Samsung Considering Android 4.0 ICS For Galaxy S And Galaxy Tab?

Samsung recently announced which of its Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets would be getting upgraded to the latest version of Android, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

There were two devices left off the list, the original Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet and the original Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, and owners of these devices were less than happy to finf out that they wouldn’t be getting Android 4.0.

Asus Transformer Prime Production Continues, Even With Hasbro Lawsuit

Last week we heard that toy maker Hasbro had decided to sue Asus over the Transformer Prime name used in Asus’s new Tegra 3 tablet, as Hasbro says that the name is too similar to that of Optimus Prime for the popular Transformer movies and toys.

It would appear that Asus isn’t too bothered about the Hasbro lawsuit, as they have confirmed that the device will continue in production with the Transformer Prime name.

LG Prada 3.0 Android Smartphone Launched In South Korea

LG and Prada recently announced their new Android smartphone, the LG Prada 3.0, the device will go on sale in the UK in February and it is launching today in South Korea with mobile providers SK Telecom and TK.

The LG Prada 3.0 comes with a 4.3 inch touchscreen which features an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, plus Android Gingerbread and a dual core 1GHz processor.

Samsung Galaxy S III Coming In February 2012?

We have been hearing rumors about Samsung’s third generation Galaxy S smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III over the last few months, and now according to a recent report Samsung are expected to unveil the Galaxy S III in February.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is expected to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2012, which takes place next February, and we suspect it will be even more popular than the Galaxy S II.

Motorola MotoActv Rooted, Running Android Honeycomb Launcher (Video)

Motorola launched the MotoActv Android companion watch for smartphones a while back, and now one developer , CMW, has managed to root the device and install the stock Honeycomb launcher on it.

Have a look at the video of it in action, which shows a number of Android apps running on the device including YouTube videos, as well as games like Angry Birds.

New PS Vita Firmware Update Released

Sony has released a new firmware update for their PS Vita handheld console, and the latest version is 1.51 and it can be downloaded through your PS Vita, PC or your PS3.

The update is designed to fix a number of bugs, which include issues with game progress, as well as some bug fixes and some fixes to a couple of security issues.

Untethered iOS 5.01 Jailbreak Released For Non A5 Based Apple Devices

The iPhone Dev Team have been working on the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1, and it has now been released for all non A5 based iOS devices, which means that the only two devices not supported are the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.

The jailbreak will work with the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4 (CDMA), the original iPad, the iPod Touch 3G and the iPod Touch 4G.

Google To Pay Mozilla $300 Million Per Year In New Search Deal

We heard recently that Google and Mozilla had signed a new search deal that would see Google continue to be the default search engine on Mozilla’s Firefox browser, and it looks like Google are paying Mozilla considerably more than they did last year.

Last year Google paid Mozilla around $100 million to be the default search engine on Firefox, and now in their new three year deal Google will pay Mozilla $300 million per year.

iPhone And iPad Account For 90 Percent Of Mobile Purchases

According to a recent report by retail analysts RichRelevance it would appear that Apple’s iPhone and iPad are the most popular mobile device for making online purchases.

The report says that our of all the purchases made to online retailers through mobile devices, Apple’s iPad and iPhone make up around ninety two percent of those purchases in December.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Hits 1 Million Subscribers (Video)

Star Wars: The Old Republic was launched just a week ago, and it looks like EA and Bioware’s latest game is already popular amongst gamers at it has already hit one million subscribers in the first week.

This makes Star Wars; The Old Republic the Fastest MMO to reach the 1 million subscribers mark, and they have also announced that players are averaging around 5 hours per day each with a total of 28 million hours logged in the first week.

JXD S7100 Android Gaming Tablet Announced

JXD has launched a new Android tablet which is aimed at gamers, the JXD S7100 and as you can see from the photo below, the tablet features built in gaming controls which include a a D-Pad.

The JXD S7100 comes with a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, plus an ARM A9 processor, 512MB of RAM, a Mail 400 GPU and 16GB of built in storage.

HTC Flyer Android Tablet Dropped To £199

The HTC Flyer went on sale earlier in the year, and it looks like one UK retailer has decided to drop the price as Euro Droid are reporting that UK retailer Dixons is now selling the HTC Flyer for £199.

There are two models available, the WiFi only version which is available for £199 and the WiFi and 3G version which is available for £249, and the WiFi version comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

BlackBerry Porsche Design P9981 Lands In The UK For £1,275

Back in October RIM announced a new special edition BlackBerry smartphone, the BlackBerry Porsche Design P9981, and now it looks like the device has gone on sale and it will cost you a massive £1,275 around $1,995.

As a reminder the BlackBerry Porsche Design P9981 is basically a re-designed BlackBerry Bold 9900, and it comes with a new exterior which is a combination of leather and steel and runs BlackBerry OS 7.

Samsung Shows Off Transparent LCD TV

Samsung has released some photos of their new transparent LCD panel, the Samsung LTI460AP01, which is a 46 inch inch transparent LCD display, and according to Samsung it will use just 10 percent of the power that a standard LCD uses.

Have a look at the photos of this transparent LCD display below, we suspect we will see more of this device at CES 2012 next month, and it certainly looks interesting from the photos.

Ubislate 7 Is India’s Second Budget Android Tablet

India recently launched their first government subsidized Android tablet, a device which retailed for around $55, and now there is a new one on the way called the Ubislate 7 and the device is expected to retail for around $57.

The Ubislate 7 will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and feature a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, processing will be provided by a 700MHz Cortex A8 processor.

Samsung Buys Sony Out Of Joint LCD Venture

Thuderbolt Headed To PCs Next April

According to a recent report by Digitimes, Itel’s Thunderbolt technology, which is only available on Apple devices at the moment, is headed to PCs ion April of next year.

Intel teamed up with Apple to develop the technology and it launched with the new iMacs this year, and now it looks like it is headed to PCs, and will be available to a range of PC manufacturers.

LG To Launch 55 Inch OLED HDTV At CES 2012

LG has announced that they will lunch  new 55 inch OLED HDTV at CES 2012 in January, the HDTV will be the largest OLED HDTV to go on sale, and it is expected to hit stores around the middle of next year.

The device is expected to be just 5mm thick, when it goes on sale, which is considerably thinner than existing LED Tvs, and we will get a good look at it when it is launched at CES next month.

Kindle Fire Gets Early Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Port (Video)

It looks like Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet has been given an early port of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is described as pre-alpha, the build was put together by developer JackpotClavin from the XDA Developers.

Have a look at the video of it in action below, which shows Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Amazon Kindle Fire, a number of things aren’t working at the moment, although we suspect it won’t be long before a full working version of ICS is available for the Kindle Fire.

LG Fantasy Windows Phone Smartphone Leaked

Details have been leaked of a new Windows Phone smartphone from LG, the LG Fantasy which is expected to launch in quarter one of 2012, you can see the device in the photo below.

According to untitledmangxg  from the XDA Developers the handset was obtained form a developer who is testing the device and it will feature a 4 inch IPS display and will come with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

Apple’s Siri Lands On Jailbroken iOS 5 Devices

We have already seen a few videos of Apple’s Siri running on various iOS 5 devices, and changes to Siri in the latest version of Apple’s iOS, now mean that Siri can be ported to iOS devices without any sort of piracy.

Developers Chpwn and Ryan Petrich have developed a port of Siri for Jailbroken iOS 5 devices, which is called Spire, and it will work on any jailbroken devices running iOS 5.

LG Announces Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For Existing Devices

LG has announced some details of when  it will be releasing the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to its existing range of smartphones.

LG will start updating various devices from the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2012, and some of the devices to get the update include the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse.
