Bullets With Holes Make Better Bullet Holes Posted: 10 Dec 2011 09:10 AM PST If the title above elicits a surprise ‘What?’ hold on a bit because there’s a rational part to it. Apparently, an Italian munitions firm have outed a special multi-caliber line of bullets that are specially engineered for greater velocity. Dubbed the CompBullet, the copper rounds have vents that ‘lubricate’ their trajectory out a barrel when fired. The trick is to bore multiple holes on their sides, which supposedly contributes to the bullet’s speed when it’s spiraling toward its target. Large Hadron Collider People Expect A Peek At Higgs Boson Posted: 10 Dec 2011 09:05 AM PST Mind you, that’s Higgs Boson. You might have been going Freudian and reading it Higgs Bossom. That would be very inappropriate of Higgs, wouldn’t it? Anyway, according to the news grapevine, people are getting pretty excited over at CERN. The vast underground science lab along the Franco-Swiss border is ground zero for proton smashing, which is supposed to produce traces of the illusive boson. Crazy Bad Ass Battlefield 3 Footage For The Weekend (Video) Posted: 10 Dec 2011 08:51 AM PST What really set apart the Battlefield franchise back when it first exploded was the fact that the multiplayer carnage took place in a real battlefield. Not just a big map, but tanks, airplanes, an assortment of role specific weaponry, and even the big guns on a warship. Fortunately, Battlefield 3 delivers on all fronts and does its diehard community proud. Sure, Call of Duty is real sweet and the long-running Counter Strike has a storied legacy. But when it comes to crazy ass antics involving machines, Battlefield is on a league of tis own. Apple Faithful Flock To Grand Central Opening (Video) Posted: 10 Dec 2011 07:49 AM PST Oh right, Apple Store @Grand Central went live yesterday, as previously reported. No surprise that a bunch of people (an extreme understatement) crowded around Grand Central Station to catch the historic moment. There’s already speculation that having a mere Apple Store (it’s one of the largest at 23,000 square feet, mind you) in a commuter hub is going to drive foot traffice through the roof. Well, people won’t exactly be waling in the roof, but it’s a sure that usually bustling Grand Central will become more bustling than before. California Girl Wins Pile Of Money In Science Competition Posted: 10 Dec 2011 12:30 AM PST Fortunately, not every female from California is like what’s described in Katy Perry’s insipid pop ditty. Rather than go for daisy dukes with bikinis on top, Angela Zhang researched hard enough to create a particle that could tackle cancerous growths on a cellular level. Her minor breakthrough, which she described as a ‘Swiss Army Knife’ approach to experimental cancer treatment, bagged her an individual top prize and $100,000 in a Washington ceremony. (...) The Difference Between The iPhone 4 And iPhone 4S Posted: 09 Dec 2011 09:32 PM PST Apple’s decision to stick with the same form factor for its latest iPhone received mixed reactions from the public when it was announced. There were some who were expecting a larger display and a new look, but were disappointed. While others felt the bump in specs on the inside was enough to keep Apple in step with its competitors in the smartphone arena. It’s not the first time Apple stuck with the same design on its smartphones; they did as much with the iPhone 3GS, the successor of the iPhone 3G. But are there enough merits for the new version, or should we keep the old?
