They got is so bad over at their place, that scientists are mopping their brows of anxious sweat as they pore over the data about NGC 3842, which is blighted by a black hole. The problem is it’s a really huge black hole capable of sucking entire solar systems. Gah!

Future Tent: Heimplanet Out Geodesic Outdoor Habitat

A long time ago in Portugal (okay it was 2003) two German friends started dreaming up a tent. The funny part is eight years later they’ve got their own startup that sells an innovative tent. Partially funded by a European incubator, Heimplanet is the collaborative offspring of Stefan Clauss and Stefan Diekhoff, who think they’ve designed a better tent than all the rest.

Facebook Timeline Public Roll Out Begins (video)

After a few weeks delay Facebook has today finally started rolling out its new Facebook Timeline feature to its users. If you are registered as a developer you will have already been able to use the new Timeline feature. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Goes Up For Pre-order

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 will shortly be available in the US as the device has appeared online for pre-order at a number of retailers, and the SIM free 3G version is retailing for about $670.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 comes with with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, plus a 7.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, processing is provided by a dual core 1.4GHz processor and it also come with 1GB of Ram and a choice of either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of built in storage.

LG Optimus Pad LTE Leaked

LG launched the LG Optimus Pad Android tablet back in May, and now it would appear that LG is working on a new version of the device, the LG Optimus Pad LTE, which you can see in the photo below.

The LG Optimus Pad LTE is rumored to come with a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor and feature 1GB of RAM, plus a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and a rear 8 megapixel camera.

3DS Firmware Update Finally Rolls Out A Day Early

At the end of last month we reported that the new 3DS firmware would be delayed until December 8th. But now Nintendo have rolled out the firmware update a day early to 3DS owners.

Bringing the highly anticipated 3D video recording and DLC features to the gaming console, together with StreetPass games, support for the 3DS-to-3DS system transfer service, to name just a few of the news features included with the firmware.

Apple Loses iPad Trademark In China

It would appear that Apple may have to find a new name for its iPad tablet in China, as the company has lost a trademark dispute with a company who owned the trademark in China for the name iPad.

And if Apple continues to use the iPad name in China it may end up having to pay up to 1.5 billion in damages to the company who owns the iPad trademark.

Android 4.0 ICS Coming To Archos G9 Tablets (Video)

Archos has announced that they will be releasing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to their range of G9 tablets, which include the Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9, and now we have a video preview of Android 4.0.1 running on an Archos tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Note For AT&T Appears At The FCC

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note is headed to US mobile carrier AT&T and the device has just turned up at the FCC with the 850/1900MHz bands for AT&T, and it features a different model number than the original GSM version which launched in Europe recently.

As a  reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Note features a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and it comes with runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

ZOMM Rolls Out New Update For Its iPhone Wireless Leash (video)

Sony Ericsson Xperia Handsets To Get Android 4.0 ICS In January?

Sony Ericsson recently confirmed that they would be releasing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for their 2011 range of Xperia smartphones, although they didn’t give any specific details on when the update would be available.

It would appear that we may see the Android 4.0 update land on the Xperia devices as soon as January 2012, according to a recent tweet which was posted to Twitter by a Sony Ericsson employee, although this has yet to be confirmed officially by Sony Ericsson.

Amazon Kindle Fire Gets Android Ice Cream Sandwich Port (Video)

Given that the Amazon Kindle fire is one of the cheapest Android tablets on the market, retailing for just $199, the device is going to be popular amongst developers and modders.

Intel & Micron Introduce 128Gb, 20nm NAND Flash

This week Intel and Micron have unveiled the worlds first 128Gbit (16GB) multilevel-cell NAND flash memory chip. Which has been manufactured using a 20nm process, incorporating high-K metal gate transistors.

The 20nm process manufacturing process has been key to the development of the new NAND chips say Intel and Micron. Who also this week announced that their 20nm 64Gb NAND device is now moving to production later this month.

Amazon Kindle Fire Coming To The UK In January?

Amazon recently launched their Kindle Fire Android tablet in the US, and the device has already got off to a good start, as Amazon has reported high sales of the Kindle Fire, although they haven’t given us any actual numbers.

When Amazon announced the Kindle Fire, we were told it would launch in the US initially and would be available in other countries around the world at a later date, now it would appear that Amazon may launch the Kindle Fire in the UK in January.

Verizon Equipment Guide Lists December 9th As Samsung Galaxy Nexus Launch Date

Yesterday we heard that it looks like this Friday, the 9th of December will be the official launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and now more evidence has been revealed which confirms this Friday as the actual launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Awesome Flyboard Water Jet Boots Unveiled (video)

A new style of water base device has been born called the Flyboard, which incorporates a pair of water jet powered boots to propel its rider though the air and water. In a similar way to the water powered jetpack which we featured here on Geeky Gadgets earlier this year.

Transformers Bumblebee Xbox 360 Slim Casemod (Video)

Transformers and gaming fans will love this new Xbox 360 case mod, inspired by Bumblebee from the Transformers movies, this latest Xbox mod was created by Mark Bongo from Major League Mods.

Mark decided to install an Xbox 360 Slim inside a remote control Camaro, and in the video below you will see that the DVD tray comes out of the front of the car, and the rear window is an 8 inch LCD display.

Triggertrap Allows You To Trigger Your Camera Shutter In A Multitude Of Ways (video)

Some of you might remember the new device called Triggertrap we featured back in June. That was being created to enable you to trigger your camera shutter in any number of different ways. Well this week the new Triggertrap device has made the jump from concept to production and its developers are now taking pre-orders.

To recap Triggertrap is an Arduino powered device designed by Ziah Fogel & Haje Jan Kamps. BBC iPlayer App Arriving On iPhones And iPods

Art Lebedev Optimus Popularis Keyboard And Mini Six Details And Prices Unveiled

Art Lebedev has this week unveiled a few more details about its Optimus Popularis Keyboard, which includes a small screen on each of its keys allowing you to display any characters you would like as shown in the image below.

In the upper portion of the keyboard, between the function and numeral keys, an area is reserved to display a custom range of the most important information. The resolution of each display key is currently 64 x 64 pixels, with a frame rate of 10 frames per second.

Logitech Revue Gets Android Honeycomb Update

Logitech announced a while back that they had decided not to make any Logitech Revue Google TV set top boxes, although the company did confirm that they would continue to provide updates for existing devices.

Grand Theft Auto III Coming To iOS and Android December 15th

Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition is headed to mobile devices, which will include the Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch 4G, as well as Android smartphones and tablets.

Apple’s iBooks App Gets Updated, Adds New Features

Apple has updated its iBooks app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and the latest version, iBooks 1.5 brings a new range of features to Apple’s eBook app, which include a new nighttime reading theme that is designed to make it easier to read books in the dark.

Other new features include a new full screen layout, a new range of fonts, which include Athelas, Charter, Iowan, and Seravek, plus some new classic covers for the public domain books and more.

Microsoft’s Windows Store Coming February 2012

As well as announcing that the Windows 8 public beta will be available in February, Microsoft has also announced that the Windows Store will launch in February of 2012, and Microsoft has shared some more details about the Windows Store.

It looks like the deals with application developers for the Windows Store will be similar to what Apple offers, Microsoft will pay developers 70 percent of the revenue and keep 30 percent themselves, although the deal does look better as when a particular app reaches $25,000 in revenue, Microsoft will pay developers 80 percent of the revenue.

Windows 8 Public Beta Confirmed For February 2012 Launch

There have been rumors recently that Microsoft would be launching the public beta of Windows 8 around February of next year, and now Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 8 public beta will be available in February of 2012.

Sony Ericsson Nozomi (Xperia Arc HD) Poses For The Camera

We previously showed you some photos and some press shots of Sony Ericsson’s latest Android smartphone, which is codenamed Nozomi, and now it would appear that the device will be called the Xperia Arc HD.

The photo below gives us a much better look at the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD (Nozomi), which is rumored to feature a 4.3 inch HD display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, and it will feature a dual core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

RIM Forced To Drop BBX Name For New BlackBerry Platform

Back in October RIM announced that their new software platform would be called BlackBerry BBX, unfortunately for RIM the BBX trademark was already owned by Basis International, who used the trademark for their own software platform.

Basis International decided to take RIM to court for using their trademark, and filed a court case against RIM back in October, and now it would appear that RIM won’t be able to use the BBX name for their platform.

Android Market Hits 10 Billion Downloads

Google has announced that the Android Market has hit a new milestone, there have now been over 10 billion downloads from the Android Market, and according to Google, the total downloads are growing at a rate of 1 billion downloads a month.

This would mean that in 2012, Google is on target to double its 10 billion downloads to 20 billion by October of next year, and to celebrate this new milestone Google will be offering a new set of apps each day for just 10 cents each.

Flipboard’s New iPhone App Launched
