Prototype Asterisk Robot From Japan Has Got Mad Moves (Video)

Gotta hand it to Japanese engineers. Sluggish economy or not, they still put in the hours to develop new types of robots. Seen here is Asterisk, which named after its shape, a six-limbed  insectoid prototype that’s being tweaked at the Arai Robotics Lab. Japan needs its robots though. As an industrialized country prone to unforseen calamities and burdened by a graying population, the assistance of intelligent machines is a viable alternative to a flood of migratory workers. Besides, Ghost In The Shell practically laid down a blue print for a future Japan back in the 1990s.

AOC’s iPhone Dock Display, Plays Media Directly From Your iOS Device

This week AOC have launched a new product to their range of displays that comes equipped with a handy iPhone dock built in. The new AOC e2343Fi features a dock which is positioned in the centre of the stand just under the screen and supports both iPhones and iPods.

The AOC e2343Fi is equipped with a 23 inch widescreen display and comes fitted with a pair of SRS Premium Sound speakers. The dock enables you to play video directly from your iOS devices without the need for additional cables or software.

SpotiLast Builds Spotify Playlists Using Your Last.fm History

Gameloft Launches GT Racing: Motor Academy On Google+ (video)

This week Gameloft has started a partnership with Google and launched its new game on to Google’s Google+ Social Network. Gameloft’s new GT Racing: Motor Academy is now available to play via Google+, and is the first 3D HTML5 racing title to offer a fully immersive racing experience on the platform.

GT Racing: Motor Academy includes over 26 manufacturers and 111 licensed cars to buy, drive and upgrade, featuring the Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, and top of the line Ferrari models to name a few. spnKiX Motorised Skates (video)

If you have been waiting for a pair of motorised skates to be created, your in luck. As a new concept called spnKiX has just made it appearance on the Kickstarter website, looking to make the jump from concept to reality.

The spnKiX designed by Peter Treadway are motorised battery powered skates that strap right on to your shoes and can propel you at 10 mph. They are hand controlled by a wireless remote, and all hardware and electronics are integrated into a frame made of fiber reinforced nylon.Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.

Sony Sells 300,000 PS Vita Consoles In Two Days

Sony’s new PS Vita portable gaming console went on sale in Japan on Saturday, and Sony has revealed that it has already sold over 300,000 device in just the first two days after launch.

Sony had manufactured a first batch of 700,000 devices to meet demand in Japan during launch. But even selling 321,400 devices, sales are still a little slow for Sony, who was hoping stores would have sold out of their consoles.

Netlfix Seals Deal For BBC TV Shows In 2012

Netflix has today revealed that it will soon be adding number of classic BBC TV shows to its service including greats such as “Doctor Who,” “Top Gear,” “Little Britain” and more. Netflix has sealed a deal with the BBC to start streaming the TV shows to Netflix Members In The UK And Ireland in early 2012. Financial terms were not disclosed but the deal is non-exclusive.

Asus Transformer Prime Tablet Starts Shipping

It looks like Asus has started shipping the first Transformer Prime tablets to people who have pre-ordered the device, although it looks like the rest of us may have to wait until January to get out hands on the Transformer Prime.

The majority of online retailers are now out of stock of the Transformer Prime, and Asus has said that they will have more device available in January of 2012.

AT&T Cancels Bid For T-Mobile

Back in March AT&T announced that they intended to buy T-Mobile in a deal which was worth $39 billion, although the deal has come under scrutiny from the regulators, including the US justice department over the last 9 months.

Now AT&T has announced that they are canceling their bid for T-Mobile, and AT&T will now have to pay T-Mobile a total of $4 billion which was the agreed fee should the deal not go through.

Batman: Arkham City Developers Say Thank You With A Cheat Code And Free Batman Skin

Apple’s Siri Plays The Piano (Video)

Verizon Looking Into Galaxy Nexus Signal Problems

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus went on sale last week, and since the launch a number of users of the device have reported signal problems on Verizon’s LTE network.

Sony Apologies And Releases PS Vita Update To Correct Early Issues

Sony’s new PS Vita portable gaming console only launched in Japan on Saturday, but already Sony has needed to release a new update and apologise to customers for issues that have been experienced by new owners of the console.

Issues being reported by owners include their consoles freezing, together with touch screen issues preventing gameplay. Reports of issues started trickling in just after the first consoles were sold, but soon became an issue for Sony with users flooding Twitter with problems. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Headed To Verizon?

It would appear that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 may be headed to US mobile carrier Verizon wireless, as details of the device have been revealed by an FCC filing.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 features Android 3.2 Honeycomb, a 7.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, processing is provided by a dual core 1.4GHz processor and it also come with 1GB of Ram and a choice of either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of built in storage.

Apple’s Siri Can Now Be Used To Shop Via Wolfram Alpha

Even though Apple’s Siri personal assistant software is still in it beta development stage. Many Apple iPhone 4S users are finding Siri a great addition to iOS. Now Wolfram Alpha has unveiled a new way to use Siri allowing users to browse and compare Best Buy electronics, using the Wolfram Alpha knowledge base.

The new Siri feature uses the the retailer’s database of 35,000 consumer products, enabling users to search online for bargains, using either the web or Siri application. Providing specific product features, prices and availability, user ratings, price comparisons and similar models.

HTC Elite 4G LTE Android Smartphone Coming Next Year

Earlier we heard some details about a new Android device from HTC the HTC Fireball for Verizon, and now according to the BGR, HTC also has a 4G LTE Android device planned for AT&T, the HTC Elite.

The HTC Elite is expected to launch with AT&T in April of 2012, and the device will come with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

White Samsung Epic 4G Touch Headed To Sprint

It looks like Sprint will be the latest carrier to get a white version of the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone, which is known as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch on Sprint.

The photo below shows the device in white, which was obtained by the guys from, Pocket Now, and it is expected to retail for around $200 on sprint, the same price as the exist ring black version that is available.

Is Google Working On A Nexus Tablet?

Google has released a number of Nexus smartphones over the last few years, the latest one being the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and now it would appear that Google may be working on their own Nexus tablet.

Google’s Eric Schmidt recently revealed that Google is working on ‘a tablet of the highest quality’, and Google are obviously looking to taker on Apple’s iPad which has been dominating the market for some time.

Nokia To Launch More Lumia Windows Phones At CES 2012?

Nokia recently announced their first Windows Phone smartphone for the US, the Nokia Lumia 710, which will be available with US carrier T-Mobile, and now it looks like we will see more Windows Phone devices from Nokia at CES 2012 in January.

Samsung Galaxy S II And Galaxy Note Getting Android 4.0 ICS In Early 2012

Samsung recently announced that it would be updating a number of its Android smartphones to the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich next year, and now we have more details on when the update will arrive on certain devices.

Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Samsung Galaxy Note will get the Android 4.0 update in the first quarter of 2012, which would mean by March at the latest.

Amazon Kindle Fire 6.2.1 Update Arrives

Firefox 9 Launches Early Bringing Faster Browsing And Mac OS X Lion Support

Mozilla has today launched the next version of their Internet browser, Firefox 9. Todays unofficial launch comes one day ahead of the official launch tomorrow, following on from the beta version that was released back on November 11th 2011.

The new Firefox 9 browser brings with it a number of new enhancements and performance tweaks, and extra speed whilst browsing. With improved JavaScript execution speed of around 20 to 30%.

HTC Fireball 4G LTE Android Smartphone Headed To Verizon

It looks like HTC has a new 4G LTE smartphone in the works, which is headed to Verizon Wireless in the US, the HTC Fireball, although we don’t have any actual details about the device.

According to Droid Life, the reference to the HTC Fireball has appeared in Verizon’s inventory systems, and it looks like it was added to their system recently.

Apple Wins Patent Case Against HTC

Apple has won a patent case against HTC, which could see some of HTC’s Android smartphones banned in the US, although HTC has until next April to find a work around for the patent.

The ITC has just ruled in Apple’s favor regarding a patent relating to ‘data tapping’, although HTC have already said that they have a work around, which they will obviously implement before the ban comes into force.

Google Lets It Snow For Christmas

Depending on where you live you may or may not get any snow this Christmas, where I live all we have at the moment is rain, it looks like Google has decided that we should have snow everywhere and they have added a fun Easter egg to their search engine.

If you type ‘Let it Snow’ into Google you will end up for the search results for ‘Let it Snow’, and after a few seconds it will actually start to snow on the Google page you have landed on, have a look at the photo below.

Toshiba Dynabook Windows 7 Tablet Announced

Toshiba has announced a new Windows 7 based tablet, the Toshiba Dynabook WT301/D which will go on sale in Japan in January and is designed for enterprise users.

The Toshiba Dynabook WT301/D features a 10.1 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, processing is provided by an Intel Atom processor, and it also features 2GB of RAM and a 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD).

Nokia Lumia 800 To Get Battery Fix Update Early Next Year

Nokia recently announced that they would be releasing a couple of updates for the Lumia 800, one of those updates was recently released and now Nokia has confirmed that the second update will be released in early 2012.

PS Vita Digital Games Launch Slower than Retail Versions

First iPhone Bluetooth 4.0 App – Find My Car Smart

When I was a kid, my mom was always parking and not remembering where the car was. She would use a piece of paper and out the rows from the door and the spots between the car and the front just to find where we were parked. Today you don’t have to do that sort of thing thanks to cool apps like find my Car Smart.
