PS3 SSD Upgrade Found To Improve Skyrim, Rage, Brink Performance Posted: 19 Feb 2012 09:43 AM PST The question of potential performance gains versus sticker shock for an SSD is not something that keeps me up nights. In fact, SSDs are still firmly in my mental category of stuff that needs to seriously come down in price before warranting the average consumer’s consideration. And then write about it. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2012. | Permalink | Unauthorized duplication and or distribution of our content is strictly forbidden © Geeky Gadgets, 2012 |

Posted: 18 Feb 2012 11:23 PM PST When choosing your next smartphone, it’s not just the spec sheet that you should look into. Aside from hardware, you also need to consider the software included and there’s no denying that the two most prominent mobile operating systems right now are Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. Google’s latest darling is Android 4.0, also called Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). For Apple, it’s iOS 5. Both are leaders in mobile so it’s quite inevitable that they’ll be pitted against each other. Let’s look at a rundown of some of the key features of each platform. You might note that there are some distinct similarities in the feature being compared but each side offers a bit of a twist to its own take on it, so choose the one that fits your needs better. Minecraft Rip-Off As Well, Claims FortressCraft Creator Posted: 18 Feb 2012 05:39 PM PST The exact geographical location of the line between rip-off and inspiration is making its way into headlines again, this time in relation to Minecraft and its growing army of clones. Of which Minecraft may yet turn out to be a part, if FortressCraft’s creator Adam Sawkins’ logic holds true. ”There’s nothing that FortressCraft shares with Minecraft that it does not also share with Infiniminer,” he says. We have not played either, but since Minecraft wears its inspiration its sleeve (by which I mean Wikipedia page), it seems hard to disagree. Lead Mass Effect, KOTOR Writer Bids Bioware Farewell Posted: 18 Feb 2012 05:12 PM PST Dedicated Bioware fans will know Drew Karpyshyn as the writer with a hand in almost all of Bioware’s finest creations for the past decade. The list could start and stop at Baldur’s Gate 2 and it would be enough. But it goes on with both Mass Effects, the original Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire and the Neverwinter Nights series. But as good as those games are, they are always going to be set in someone else’s universe and Drew Karpyshyn seems intent on building his own. Skyrim Eschews Fallout-Style DLC, Goes The Expansion Route Posted: 18 Feb 2012 04:40 PM PST Bethesda isn’t perfect, as Notch and Mojang could attest in the wake of the “Scrolls” trademark lawsuit the Minecraft developer and Bethesda’s parent company are currently embroiled in. But with Skyrim’s launch, it’s shown a level of restraint and thoughtfulness heretofore reserved for the likes of Valve. It seems that not only were DLC plans shelved until the game was properly patched, but even the DLC content itself has been given thorough consideration.
