Japanese Gadget Hounds to Get New Tablet and Smartphone from NTT DoCoMo

NTT DoCoMo in Japan has a pair of new Android devices that will be coming in the next few months. In March the Japanese carrier will get a new smart phone running Android called the docomo NEXT series AQUOS PHONE SH-06D. In April, the carrier will get another device, this time a tablet called docomo Tablet MEDIAS TAB N-06D.

Apple Gatekeeper Coming In OS X Mountain Lion

Apple announced the latest version of OS X earlier today, and one of the new features in OS X Mountain Lion is called Gatekeeper, which is basically Apple’s attempt to take on malware with a new digital signing system for applications which have been downloaded outside of Apple’s Mac App Store.

Gatekeeper will introduce something called Developer ID, which is a new certification program for OS X developers, and it is of course optional but the majority of developers who distribute Mac apps outside of Apple’s Mac App Store will probably adopt it.

As well as rolling out a developer preview of their new Mac OS X Mountain Lion operating system. Apple has also made available to the general public running Mac OS X Lion, a beta version of their new Messages application.

The Messages app has been created by Apple to replace its existing iChat application, and provides you with a glimpse one of the new apps that will be bundled with the new Mac OS X Mountain Lion software, when it’s officially released.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus N Announced For Germany

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany, the device was a modified version of the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, which had a number of design changes after the original tablet was banned in the country following a court case between Samsung and Apple.

Now Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus N in Germany, which is basically the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, but with a new design to make sure that the device doesn’t infringe on Apple’s patents.

Apple has today released a developer preview of its new Mac OS X Mountain Lion operating system. Enabling us to see what Apple has in store for Mac users in the next version of their Mac OS X.

The preview comes around seven months after Apple launched the final version of its Mac OS X Lion last year. The Mountain Lion version carries on the theme that Apple started within Mac OS X Lion and brings Apple’s iOS devices and Mac systems even closer together.

HTC Sensation And Sensation XE To get Android ICS Preview In Europe

HTC has announced that it will give some owners of the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and early preview of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, although it looks like the preview will only be available in Europe.

HTC have also said that they may also extend the Android 4.0 preview to other devices as well as the Sensation XE and the original Sensation but they didn’t give any specific details.

Back in December HTC added a number of new devices to their bootloader unlocking tool, and now HTC has added a couple more devices to the list which include the HTC Hero, Legend, Droid Eris and the myTouch 3g and myTouch 4G.

The HTC bootloader unlock tool allows you to unlock your HTC smartphone so that you can instal a custom ROM on your device.

Olympics 3D BBC Plans 2012 Plans Unveiled

Today the BBC has announced its plans for the upcoming 2012 Olympics 3D programming. Unveiling that it will be broadcasting the 2012 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies and 100m final in 3D this summer, for all to enjoy.

As well as the mentioned events above the BBC also hopes to provide nightly highlights from other events in 3D as well. The BBC nightly highlights, will feature a range of sports on the BBC HD channel after the live action has finished, enabling the BBC to use “spare” capacity on BBC HD.

NVIDIA Says Tegra 3 “Superphones” Will Ship This Quarter

We have already heard about a number of quad core smartphones that will be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor, many of which are expected to be announced at MWC 2012 later this month.

During their recent earnings call NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced that they expect the first Tegra 3 powered smartphones to be announced at MWC and they will start shipping before the end of the quarter.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Officially Launching October 2012

Ubisoft has been busy today and as well as confirming the launch date for its new Far Cry 3 game has also announced that the new Assassin’s Creed 3 game will be arriving on October 30th 2012, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and possibly the new Nintendo Wii U when it arrives.

In November last year Ubisoft confirmed that a new Assassin’s Creed 3 game would be arriving in 2012, but confirming its release, has now brought smiles to the faces of Creed fans worldwide.

Apple Releases Statement On iPad Trademark Dispute in China

Over the last few weeks we have been hearing more and more about the legal case going on between Apple and Proview in China, Proview is the company who originally owned the trademark for the iPad in a number of different countries.

Proview sold the trademark to Apple a few year ago, although the company is now claiming that this did not include ownership of the trademark in China.

Android 5.0 Jelly Bean Coming By June 2012?

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, which was launched at the end of last year and now it would appear that we could see the next major release of Android by June of 2012.

According to a recent report, Google may launch Android 5.0, which is codenamed Jelly Bean by June of this year, and the news comes from Digitimes who have cited supply chain sources for the information.

HTC One X And One S Android Smartphones To Debut At MWC

It looks like we may have some possible names for a couple of Android smartphones that HTC will launch at this years MWC 2012 in Barcelona later this month.

According to the guys over at Slashgear and Pocket Now the HTC Edge or HTC Endeavor which we heard about recently will be called the HTC One X, while the HTC Ville will be called the HTC One S.

Sapphire has this week announced that their new addition to its range of products the new Sapphire AMD Fusion-Powered Edge-HD3 Mini PC, is nearing a shipping date. The Edge-HD3 Mini PC was first unveiled nearly 12 months ago and has since made appearances as CES and made its way through the FCC.

Now Sapphire are preparing to official launch their new AMD Fusion-Powered Edge-HD3 Mini PC in to stores later this month. However no information on pricing has been released as yet.

The new Double Fine Adventure game which took Kickstarter by storm last week, raising a staggering $400,000 in less than eight hours and now currently sitting on a massive $1,851,334 in pledges with still 26 days to go.

Over the next six-to-eight months, a development team under Tim Schafer’s supervision will develop the proposed classic point-and-click adventure. We just got an email from a couple of online retailers here in the UK to let us know that they now have the SIM free white Samsung Galaxy Nexus available, and apart from the white casing the device comes with the same specifications as the original Galaxy Nexus.

The white Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes with the same specifications as the existing model, which include a 4.65 inch HD Super AMOLED multi-touch touchscreen display, with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and an advanced 5 megapixel camera.

The Major Nelson website has today announce that a new system update will be rolling our for Xbox 360 gaming console today. Which is hoped will bring a fix to the issues some owners have been experiencing with colours since the new dashboard was rolled out a few months ago.

After a number of reports and evidence started to surface regards the colour problem, Microsoft acknowledged the Xbox 360 colour issue and said that a fix would be coming shortly back in the middle of January.

Archos first announced their new Arnova 9 G2 Android tablet a few months ago, and this week its now arrived in stores starting from $230, and runs Google’s Android 2.3 operating system.

The Archos Arnova 9 G2 Android tablet is equipped with a large 9.7 inch touchscreen, with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixel and offering a 4:3 ratio. Its powered by a 1GHz Arm A8 processor and comes complete with 4GB of internal memory that can be increased via the included microSDHC.

Facebook Users Verified Accounts And Pseudonyms Launches Today

Facebook has today started rolling out its new Facebook Verified Accounts and Pseudonyms service, enabling prominent public figures to easily verify their accounts with Facebook, and then have the option to display a preferred nickname instead of their birth name.

The new verification process will be manually approved by Facebook to make sure that users are who they say they are. But unlike the already existing Twitter or Google+ verification systems, Facebook verified accounts will not display any sort of badge or denotation on the account to show its verified.

Users patiently waiting for Asus to roll out the Ice Cream Sandwich update to the original Asus Transformer TF101. Are going to be disappointed to learn, that the update has been pushed back yet again, and now looks like it will arrive sometime next month.

Asus originally said that their Asus Transformer TF101 would be receiving the update soon after the Prime received its update. But this was then pushed back to January and now March.

Samsung Cancels 32GB GSM Galaxy Nexus?

When Samsung launched the Galaxy Nexus in the UK and Europe, the device came with 16GB of built in storage, and there was also supposed to be a 32GB model on the way.

In the US the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available with Verizon with 32GB of built in storage, but the GSM version is only available with 16GB of storage, and now it would appear that Samsung may have decided not to release a 32GB GSM version.

Windows Phone Tango Screenshots Leaked

Microsoft’s next version of its Windows Phone platform is called Windows Phone Tango, and now some screenshots of the new mobile operating system have been leaked, revealing some information on what is coming in Windows Phone Tango.

The details were revealed by the guys from WP7forum (Russian), and Windows Phone Tango will come with the ability to export your contacts to your SIM cars, as well as the ability to manage domestic and international roaming.

Motorola Reveals Android 4.0 ICS Update Schedule

Motorola has announced that it will be releasing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for a number of its devices, and has released a full schedule showing when the update will be available for each device.

You can see details for each device in the table below, although it looks like many of Motorola’s device will not receive the Android 4.0 update until quarter 3 of 2012.

Sony’s has announced that its buyout of Ericsson from its Sony Ericsson mobile partnership has been completed, and Sony’s mobile division is now called Sony Mobile Communications.

Sony paid around $1.47 billion to buy Ericsson out of the two companies mobile phone partnership, and future smartphones from Sony will now we released under the ‘Sony’ brand.

Reports of some iOS applications accessing user contacts without seeking users’ permission and storing it on their servers surfaced last week, and creating quite a stir as expected as it involves privacy issues.
