Kingston KC100 Business SSD Launches with Speed and Security

Kingston has unveiled its latest SSD and this time the SSD is aimed at the business users. The SSD is called the SSDNow KC100. It is designed to work with the SATA 6Gb/s port and uses a SandForce controller. It also has a 5-year warranty and special features just for the business users.

Polk Launches UltraFit Sports Headphones (video)

Polk has unveiled a new range of headphones designed for sports and exercise, which they have named the UltraFit Sports Headphones. There are four different models in the range starting from $50 and climbing to $100 providing different styles and colours to suits a range of uses.

The UltraFit 500 model ($50) is an in-ear headphone with two planar audio cables, the  UltraFit 1000 ($70) is also in-ear with similar features to the 500 with the addition of an in-line three-button remote and microphone. Watch the promotional video after the jump.

Sony Launches First iPad Dock X500iP And Updates Its ICF-CS15iP Alarm Dock

Sony has today unveiled its very first iPad docking speaker device in the form of the new Sony iPad Dock X500iP which has been geared to iOS devices and will support Apples iPad. The Sony X500iP has been equipped with a subwoofer supported by a pair of passive bass radiators designed to provide a deep base sound using Sony’s magnetic fluid technology.

It also equipped with a Aux input  and will be arriving in October for around $300. As well as the X500iP Sony has also unveiled their new upgraded ICF-CS15iP iPhone dock and alarm clock.

DOTKLOK, The Open Source Arduino Digital Clock

We have feature quite a few cool clocks here at Geeky Gadgets, the latest one  is the work of Andrew O’Malley, the DOTKLOK, which is an open source Arduino digital clock.

The DOTKLOK comes with a range of cool animations which have been inspired by classics like Pong, Tetris, PacMan and Space Invaders, and it also comes with 14 selectable time animations.

Netgear May Use Google TV For Media Streaming Products

Today Netgear has confirmed with the Slashgear Technology website that they are currently evaluating Google TV and may include the technology in their future media streaming products. However Netgear also says that the Google TV technology  "as a platform it's not there yet.".

Netgear has manufactured set-top boxes in the past and partnered with Roku for a short time last year bringing Roku boxes to stores. However the partnership didn’t last and now Netgear is looking to find another technology to use within its products.

Fake Apple Sneakers Appear In China

We have already seen a number of faked Apple products, as well as some fake Apple stores, in China, and now it would appear that some Chinese footwear manufacturers have decided to make some Apple sneakers.

As you can see from the photo below, these fake Apple sneakers feature an Apple logo, and come in a range of different colors, and they apparently retail in China for about $5.

Robotic Ball Sphero Receives A New Look And Inductive Charging

The Robotic Ball Sphero we featured here on Geeky gadgets back in January and April when it landed $5 million in investment earlier this year for development is now edging closer to a launch.

The Robotic Ball Sphero that can be controlled by either an iPhone or Android device has been revealed in a new finish. Having lost its clear skin it now sports a white finish complete with logo.

Kensington SecureBack iPad 2 Security Case Announced

Kensington has launch a new security case for the iPad 2, called the Kensington SecureBack, it is designed to stop would be thieves walking off with an iPad and it features a case for the back of the iPad 2 and also a Kensington ClickSafe security Anchor.

Ingenious StayLocked Bike Lock Concept Makes Riding Impossible If Cut

An innovative bike lock concept has been developed that uses the frame of the bike as the lock. So if any would-be thief cuts through or damages the lock in anyway the bike becomes unusable.

As you can see in the pictures below the rear forks are used to create the lock and secure your bike to a meter, post and if a thief was to try and ride without the forks back in position the whole bike would collapse.

Sprint iPad 2 Launching Next Month?

We pretty much know that Sprint will be getting the new iPhone 5 when it launches next month, but now it looks like Sprint will also be getting another Apple product according to a recent report, the iPad 2.

According to the guys over at 9 to 5 Mac, Apple and Sprint have been working on a version of the iPad 2 which is compatible with Sprint’s data network.

Facebook Rolls Out New Smart Lists Feature

This week Facebook is rolling out a new feature to its social networking service called Smart Lists. The feature has been developed to help you keep up to date with your closest friends and family and make it simpler to share information with certain people using Friend Lists.

Friends Lists have been around some time but now Facebook has added three new features: Smart lists, Close Friends and Acquaintances lists and Better Suggestions. The new Smart lists have been designed to create themselves based on what you and your friends have in common such as work, school, family and city. You can also add or remove friends manually to make the lists even more accurate.

Windows 8 Has A New Blue Screen Of Death

As well as giving Windows 8 a completely new looks with a new UI, it looks like Microsoft has also replaced the standard Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), which is usually filled with lots of text telling you what went wrong with a more, friendly version.

The photo below, from Chip Hazard shows the new BSoD, and as you can see it now comes with a sad face, and a much easier to understand message than the previous BSoD’s.

HTC Flyer Bootloader Now Unlockable Using HTC Official Web Utility

HTC has today added the HTC Flyer to the list of compatible devices on its official HTC development website and will now allow you to unlock the bootloader on your HTC Flyer tablet.

But before you rush over to use the new unlocking utility just make sure that your device and the firmware you are running is compatible with the HTC utility. The unlocking tool has been created by HTC for consumers to unlock their devices and install custom firmware on selected HTC Android devices.

Valve Unveils What You Can Expect From Counter-Strike: GO (video)

In an interview with Valve, gaming website Kotaku was able to ask a few questions about the direction the new Counter-Strike: GO will take. Valve is pretty clear from the off that the new version of Counter-Strike in not a version 2 but an amalgamation of Source and Counter-Strike1.6.

CS: GO project lead at Valve Ido Magal explains that the new game will let everyone experience the fun of a five-on-five games, in which all players will be equally matched. the CS: GO game will be focusing on a narrow style of gaming rather than spanning multiple mods.

Apple Files Countersuit Against Samsung In The UK

Apple has filed a countersuit against Samsung here in the UK, Samsung originally filed a lawsuit against Apple in the UK in July, and now Apple has filed a counter claim against the Korean smartphone maker.

The latest lawsuit, once again accuses Samsung of copying Apple’s iPhone and iPad, and this now means that there are a total of 20 separate lawsuits between the two companies around the world.

LG Marquee For Sprint Gets Official

We have been hearing rumors that Sprint intends to launch its own version of the LG Optimus Black, called the LG Marquee, and Sprint has now officially announced the device.

iOS 5 Coming 10th Of October?

Apple is expected to release its latest version of its mobile OS, iOS 5 some time in October, along with the launch of the iPhone 5, and now it looks like there may be a possible date for the launch of iOS 5.

According to get guys over at Apple Insider, AppleCare reps have been told to expect a large number of iOS related inquiries from customers on the 10th of October, which could point to this date as the launch date of iOS 5.

Panasonic Releases G-Series Lens Firmware Update

HTC Sensation XE UK Price, £492 Coming October 7th

HTC announced their first Android smartphone that will come with Beats Audio earlier today, and we just got an email from a UK retailer letting us know that the HTC Sensation XE will be available in the UK from the 7th of October for £492 SIM free including taxes.

The HTC Sensation XE comes with a dual core 1.5GHz processor, plus a 4.3 inch qHD display, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card slot.

Epson Megaplex Projectors Equipped With iOS Dock

Epson has today unveiled a new line of projectors that have been designed with an integral iOS dock. The new MegaPlex MG-850HD and MegaPlex MG-50 now make it easy to view iPhone, iPad or iPod content directly through the projector by simply docking your iOS device.

Both projectors feature internal 10W stereo speakers and  feature USB Plug ‘n Play instant setup, enabling users to project from a PC or Mac system or show slideshows via USB. They are also equipped with HDMI and VGA inputs for connectivity with Nintendo Wii, PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360.

LG Marquee (Optimus Black) Press Photos Leaked

We recently heard that Sprint would be releasing a new Android smartphone, the Sprint LG Marquee, which is basically an LG Optimus Black re-branded as the LG Marquee for Sprint.

Now a press photo has been leaked of the new LG Marquee, which you can see in the second photo below, the first photo is of the original LG Optimus Black for comparison, and as you can see the two devices look very similar.

Nokia’s CEO Says First Windows Phone 7 Devices Launching This Year

Yesterday we heard a rumor that the first Windows Phone 7 devices from Nokia wouldn’t launch until 2012, the news came from a spokesperson from Australia, and we weren’t sure if this applied to just Australia or the rest of the world.

Now Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop recently confirmed whilst he was in China, that the first Windows Phone 7 smartphones will actually launch before the end of the year.

HTC Sensation XE With Beats Audio Becomes Official

HTC has today officially announced the arrival of their new HTC Sensation XE complete with Beats Audio, which was leaked earlier this month. The HTC Sensation XE is the first HTC smartphone to be equipped with the new Beats Audio following the recent partnership between HTC and Beats Audio.

BlackBerry Curve 9380 Leaked

Yesterday we saw some photos of the new BlackBerry Bold 9970, and now the guys over at the BGR have got their hands on another new BlackBerry device from RIM, The BlackBerry Curve 9380.

According to the guys over at the BGR, the BlackBerry Curve 9380 will come with an 800MHz processor, and a 3.25 inch touchscreen display, plus a 5 megapixel camera which capture HD video in 720p.

Final Fantasy X HD Arriving On PS3 And PlayStation Vita

It has today been announced at Sony's Tokyo Games show press conference by Square Enix that they will be launching a new HD version of the Final Fantasy X role-playing game originally launched back in 2001 for the PS2 console.

Firefox Browser Arrives On Android Tablets In Nightly Builds

You might remember back at the end of August we brought you news that a new Firefox browser was being developed by Mozilla specifically for Android tablets running Android Honeycomb. Well Mozilla have now announced the arrival of the first builds which are now available to download as Nightly Builds.

As you may already know the Nightly Builds channel exists as a very early testing stage for new software after which development will then move in the Aurora phase followed by Beta and then finally a General Release version will be launched.

Sony PS Vita Hits Japan 17th December

Sony has announced that their latest handheld gaming console will go on sale in Japan on the 17th of December, and it will launch with 26 games and there will be a 3G version with Japan’s NTT DoCoMo network.

Sony has also said that they have another 74 game titles in the works, from developers like Konami with Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy from Square Enix.

Logitech has announced a couple of new accessories for the Apple iPad and also other Bluetooth devices, the Logitech Wireless headset for iPad and the Logitech Wireless Boombox for iPad.

First up is the Logitech Wireless Headset for iPad, which connects via Bluetooth, and can be used with the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and a range of other Bluetooth devices, and it comes with a built in microphone.

8ft Lego Venator Class Star Destroyer, Built Using 43,000 Lego Bricks (video)

Lego master builder Iomedes has created a massive 8 ft (2.44m) long Lego Venator Class Star Destroyer one of the largest capital ships from the Star Wars movies. Using 43,000 individual Lego bricks and weighing in at a whopping 180 pounds.

Apple Updating Its MacBook Pro Range This Month

If you are thinking about purchasing a new MacBook Pro in the next couple of weeks, you might be interested to hear that information provided to the Apple Insider website is suggesting that Apple maybe rolling out a new update to their MacBook Pro range before the end of the month.

The surprise update is expected to add the new Intel’s next-generation Core i-Series mobile platform processor that were expected to be added to the range in the second quarter of 2012.

Sony Android Walkman Z Series In Action (Video)

yesterday Sony officially announced their first Sony Walkman to runs Google’s Android OS, the Sony Z Series Walkman, and it comes with a 4.3 inch multi-touch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Other features include a dual core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 512MB of RAM and a choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage, have a look at the video of it in action below.

T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II To Feature Dual Core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Processor

Yesterday we heard that T-Mobile’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S II will feature a different processor that other models, which come with a 1.2GHz Samsung produced Exynos processor.

It looks like the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone will come with a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060, according to a recent tweet by Samsung on Twitter.

Kodak has announced the arrival of a new addition to its range of compact cameras, with the launch of its new Kodak Easyshare Touch M5370 compact camera. The “next generation” compact camera is equipped with a 16 megapixel sensor, 720 HD video capture, 5x wide-angle lens and 3-inch touch screen on the rear.

The main feature of the Kodak M5370 its is ability to easily let you share your photos and video with friends and family using Kodak's new Share Button. Simply select the photos or video you would like to share, and with a press of the button they are automatically upload to sites such as Facebook and Kodak’s Gallery service.

Windows 8 Developer Preview Now Available To Download

Microsoft has today released a preview of its new Windows 8 software to developers after presenting the new Windows 8 OS at yesterdays Build Conference. The Windows 8 Developer Preview is a pre-beta version of Windows 8 which has been released by Microsoft specifically for developers.

The Windows 8 Developer Preview requires no activation to run and some Windows 8 features may require additional hardware, or installation of other software. As updates to the software are rolled out by Microsoft they should automatically be added to your installation. However Microsoft offers not additional support for this release.

DisplayLink have unveiled a very handy addition to their range of adapters in the form of their USB 3.0 to HDMI Adapter. The new Winstars SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter was unveiled and demonstrated at this weeks IDF (Intel Developer Forum).

The adapter provides you with the ability to connect a HDTV monitor in either mirror mode or extended mode and supports a resolution up to a 2560 x 1600. The adapter is also equipped with ultra-low latency, smooth window and cursor movement, and supports full-screen 3D games and videos. The one pictured below is Winstars current SuperSpeed USB 2.0 to HDMI adapter.

Did Apple Just Patent’s Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect?

Apple has recently been granted a range of new patents, one of those is for a 3D display and imaging system, which seems very similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect, and the system described by apple would use a projector with a scanning beam that pick up your movements via a receiver.

Apple’s patent differs from Microsoft’s Kinect slightly, in that the projector of the system could also be used to show holographic imagery.

Intel’s 2013 Processor Will Run Your Laptop For 24 Hours On One Charge

Intel has released details of its Haswell architecture which will be released in 2013, and these new processors will be much more energy efficient than existing processor’s, using 20 less power than Intel’s 2011 processors.

According to Intel, the new processors will be capable of running your laptop for 24 hours on just one charge, and they will also be able to be powered by solar power.

Windows 8 To Come With Xbox Live

We heard back in July that Microsoft’s Windows 8 will support Xbox games on your PC, and now Microsoft has confirmed at its BUILD conference that Windows 8 will come with Xbox Live built in to the operating system.

This will mean that Microsoft will be able to integrated Xbox Live features into PC games, and it will also bring all the other features of Xbox Live to Windows 8 devices which will include PC’s, tablets and laptops.

Samsung’s Windows 8 Developer Tablet Unveiled (Video)

We have already seen some photos of the Samsung Windows 8 tablet, it has now officially been unveiled at Microsoft’s BUILD conference, but you wont be able to get you hands on one as it is a developer only tablet, with what Microsoft describes as an early build of Windows 8.

The Samsung Windows 8 tablet is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, and it features an 11.6 inch multi-touch touchscreen display, plus 4GB of RAM and a 64GB solid state drive.
