GameStop has started taking trades on used iOS devices that people want to swap for store credit. The iPhone and iPad are serious gaming devices along with the iPod touch and it’s no surprise that GameStop is taking trades. 9to5Mac reports that sources are telling it that GameStop will start carrying the entire line of iOS devices.

Google+ API Not Arriving Any Time Soon

If you are a developer waiting to get your hands on the new Google+ API which has been promised by Google, unfortunately you will need to wait a few months more according to the Tech Crunch website.

The news comes from a Google+ developer (who would prefer to remain anonymous) who recently asked the question to a Google+ project manager, with the reply that the API is still “months” away from an official release to developers.

BookTrack App Brings Soundtracks To Books (video)

An innovative new application has been developed called BookTrack that has been designed to enable soundtracks to accompany books. It seems a little strange at first, but the BookTrack application uses custom built soundtracks that have been synchronised with e-books text to dramatically boost the reader’s imagination and engagement as they read.

Sony Nex-5N Goes On Sale For $699

Sony’s latest camera in its NEX range, the Sony NEX-5N was announced last month, and it looks like it is now available in the US for $699.99 from the Sony store online.

The Sony NEX-5N features a 16.1 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, with an ISO range up to 25600, and it features Sony’s interchangeable E-mount lens system.

Google Releases Android Platform Usage Statistics, With Froyo On Top

Google has this week released the latest usage statistics for its Android operating system which shows that the Android OS is still fragmented with Froyo (Android 2.2) at the top of the user stats with an impressive 51.2 percent usage share. Followed by Gingerbread (Android 2.3) with 30.7 percent share.

However when you compare the results to last months Gingerbread is making the largest gains and has jumped from 24.3 percent last month, with Froyo falling from 55.9 percent.

Sprint Samsung Epic 4G Touch Goes Up For Pre-Order

The Samsung Galaxy S II was announced for the US recently, and it will be called different names with each of the mobile carriers, the Sprint version is called the Samsung Epic 4G Touch and it is now available to pre-order for $149.99 if you sign up to a new two year agreement.

The Samsung Epic 4G Touch features a slightly larger display than the Galaxy S II, with a 4.52 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, processing is provided by a dual core 1.2GHz processor.

Ultrabook Manufacturers Cautiously Limiting Initial Launch To Less Than 50,000 Units

With a number of manufactures looking to launch Ultrabooks over the coming months, the DigiTimes website is reporting that a number of insiders are suggesting manufactures will be taking a cautious approach when initially rolling out their new Ultrabooks. Which have been deigned to compete with the ultra slim form factor of Apples Mac Air.

According to close sources to the manufacturers its thought that manufactures will start initial shipments in quantities of 50,000 units or less to gauge the market.

It’s a mighty fine piece of work. last time a Pip-Boy 3000 was featured here at Geeky Gadgets it was basically a modded iPod Touch. This is different though. HTC Holiday Poses For The Camera, Again

The Worlds Largest Angry Birds Game

Angry Birds is one of the most popular mobile games of all time, and it would appear that the game is also very popular in China, as one amusement park has created a giant version of the Angry Birds game that visitors can play.

As you will see from the photos below, giant catapults are used to launch the Angry Birds at the green pigs, it doesn’t look like this game is authorized by the guys from Rovio Mobile.

Pocketbook A10 Android Tablet Arriving In November For $299 (video)

This week at the IFA PocketBook announced the launch of its new Pocketbook A10 Android tablet equipped with a capacitive multitouch TFT LCD 10.1 inch screen sporting a resolution of 1024 x 768.

The Pocketbook A10 is powered by a Texas Instruments 1GHz TI OMAP 3621 single-core processor, supported by 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory for your applications and files. If you have ever needed to recharge your mobile devices while riding and longed for your bike to be equipped with a USB port. Bike maker Silverback has now unveiled a solution with its new line of  Starke bikes which now come equipped with a USB port for charging or powering devices as you cycle.

Within the frame of the new range of bikes Silverback has installed a USB port on top of the head-tube which is powered by an internal dynamo fitted in the front wheel hub, providing your devices with juice as you cycle.

BMW Testing Laser Headlights To Replace LEDs

The majority of new cars on the road today come with LED headlights, they are more efficient and brighter than the older headlights, but now BMW are testing out a new type of headlight which they are hoping will replace LED headlights.

BMW are currently working on developing Laser headlights, which could be up to 1,000 times brighter than the existing LED ones and also use less energy.

Wacom Inkling Digital Sketch Pen (video)

This week Wacom has added a new kind of device to their range in the form of the Wacom Inkling Digital Sketch Pen. The new Wacom Inkling pen allows you to sketch on paper or anything else for that matter and then transfer your sketches to your computer.

Digital files can be exported to software applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and are transferred using the Inkling Sketch Manager software that comes supplied with the Inkling Pen. Watch the video after the jump to see the new Wacom Inkling in action.

Sony PS3 Limited Edition DualShock 3 Controllers Unveiled

Sony has this week unveiled a new line of limited edition DualShock 3 PS3 controllers that will be arriving in Japan in November and be on sale for a limited time. Apple May Have To Reveal iPad Sales Figures In Australian Galaxy Tab Case

Apple and Samsung have been fighting it out over the iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablets, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 01.1 is already banned in Germany, and Apple has been trying to stop Samsung selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia as well.

Yesterday we heard that Samsung had removed their new Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet from their IFA stand due to the court case between them and Apple, and now a Judge in Australia has said that Apple will have to release sales figures of the iPad 2 for the UK and the US.

Dead Island Developers Release Wrong PC Version Via Steam?

If you have been one of the first users to download the gory zombie PC game “Dead Island” from Valve’s Steam service, don’t worry if you are experiencing a few problems, as the developers might have released the wrong version all together.

Reports are coming in of PC gamers who have downloaded the new Dead Island game experiencing all sorts of problems within the game and when trying to connect via multiplayer. Problems include no-clipping within the game and constant crashing together with numerous other defects with the gameplay.

Motorola Xoom Price Reduced To £329 In The UK

It looks like a number of retailers here in the UK have decided to reduced the price of the Motorola Xoom tablet, obviously to boost sales, the Xoom is available in both 16GB and 32GB models.

When it went on sale six months ago, the Motorola Xoom retailed for £499 for the 16GB model and £580 for the 32GB models, now a number of UK retailers have dropped the price, one of those is Currys.

AndyPad Budget Android Tablet Now Available

Last week the new AndyPad budget Android tablet went up for pre-order here in the UK, and it has now gone on sale and is available as of today, there are two different models, the AndyPad and the AndyPad Pro.

The AndyPad features a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, it comes with 8GB of built in storage and a microSD card slot which can take up to 32GB of storage, plus WiFi and a 6hr battery.

HP To Release Up To 200,000 TouchPad Tablets In Final Run

We recently heard that HP intends to release one final run of HP TouchPad tablets, before the company puts and end to their first and last webOS tablet, to meet consumer demand.

Samsung Galaxy Note Gets Benchmarked (Video)

The Samsung Galaxy Note was announced at last weeks IFA, and for anyone wondering how powerful the device is, the guys over at Greek site Techblog managed to run Quadrant on the device whilst it was at IFA.

The Samsung Galaxy Note ended up with a score of 3,624, this compares to 3,152 on the Samsung Galaxy S II, which would make it one of the fastest Android smartphones that we have seen so far, the video below shows the device in action.

45 Years Of James Bond Cars (Infographic)

If you enjoy James Bond movies and the cars in them a great infographic has been created detailing all the vehicles driven by the legendary British agent 007 over the last 45 years. From the Bentley Mark IV right through to the Aston Martin DBS used in the Quantum of Solace film released in 2008. At the bottom of the infographic after the jump there is also a small graphic showing James Bonds preferred modes of transport.

Acer Liquid Mini Ferrari Edition Android Smartphone

Here’s one we missed from last weeks IFA, a new Android device form Acer, the Acer Liquid Min Ferrari Edition, which will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and also features a 3.2 inch HVGA multi-touch touchscreen display.

Other specifications on the Acer Liquid Mini Ferrari Edition include a 600MHz processor and 512MB of RAM, on the back there is a 5 megapixel camera, plus it also comes with a microSD card slot.

Asus Eee Pad Slider Available In Europe Tomorrow?

The Asus Eee Pad Slider was announced a while back, and we have been waiting to find out when the Eee Pad Slider will go on sale, now one European retailer LDLC (French) has listed the Eee pad slider on their website with a launch date of the 7th of September which is tomorrow.

It isn’t clear as yet whether the Asus Eee Pad Slider will be available in other European countries from tomorrow, and we still haven’t had an official launch date information from Asus.

Last month RIM announced it new range of BlackBerry smartphones, we just got an email from the guys over at Clove to let us know of the UK release dates of a number of the new BlackBerry smartphones.

Sony Unveils 3mm Sheet That Converts Any Laptop Screen Into A Glasses-Free 3D Display

This week at the IFA in Berlin Sony has unveiled a new product in the form of a lenticular sheet VGP-FL3D15A, a 3mm thick sheet that allows you to convert any laptop screen into a glasses-free 3D panel.

The 3mm panel can be attached to the front side of any notebook LCD panel transforming it into a glasses-free 3D display. The sheet has been developed for Sony’s Vaio VPCSE1Z9E (S series), as an optional extra. But when the new notebook is released by Sony in October the new lenticular sheet will also be available to purchase separately for around $180 or €129.

Amazon Beginning 7-Eleven Delivery Locker Trials This Week?

Amazon is expected to start trailing a new delivery locker service this week that will allow Amazon customers to collect their purchases from lockers within 7-Eleven stores, rather than have the items delivered to their home or business address.

Amazon has not confirmed the trials as yet but the cabinets (pictured below) were tracked down by Geekwire to the 1522 East Madison Street 7-Eleven in Seattle, and currently don’t have any Amazon logos on them.

Samsung Galaxy Note Goes Up For Pre-Order In The UK

Earlier today we found out the European pricing for the new Samsung Galaxy Note, and now the first retailer in the UK has put the Samsung Galaxy Note up for pre-order, although they have mentioned that their pricing is yet to be confirmed by Samsung.

UK retailer Clove is listing the Samsung Galaxy Note for £600 including taxes, which would be about right considering that the European pricing revealed earlier excluded taxes.

Apple Stores Getting Signal Boosters For Sprint iPhone 5?

We have been hearing rumors over the last few weeks that the iPhone 5 will also launch on mobile operator Sprint in the US at the same time as the other mobile networks in the US.

Yesterday we heard that Sprint may launch the iPhone 5 in the first week of October, and now more evidence of a Sprint iPhone 5 has been revealed, as according to a recent report, Apple stores in the US are being fitted with Sprint signal boosters.

Hitachi Unveil Single-Platter 1TB Hard Drives

Hitachi has today announced the launch of a new line of hard disk drives that is capable of storing 1TB of data on a single-platter in the form of the new Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.D. The new HDD will be available in both the Deskstar and Cinemastar Hitachi ranges and will be the first ranges to support the new 1TB per single-platter. Hitachi is providing a full range of capacities, from 250GB  up to the 1TB, on both low RPM CoolSpin and 7,200 RPM platforms.

AMD Accidentally Releases 1.7 Million DiRT 3 Keys

Its a well known practise for a hardware manufacture to include free games with high end graphics cards and the like, but AMD has accidentally leaked 1.7 million DiRT 3 game activation keys in a recent security blunder.

Codemasters and AMD had joined forces to run a DiRT 3 promotion but unfortunately AMD left the codes in nearly plain site in one of its website folders. The folder in question had no .htaccess protection and contained files listing the activation codes, that could be easily seen it the folder was accessed via a web browser.

Recently we heard that a new iPhone prototype, probably the iPhone 5 had been left in a bar, the exact same thing that happened last year, just before Gimzodo managed to get their hands on the iPhone 5 prototype.

Apple shipped around 47.5 smartphones in 2010, and this number is expected to double in 2011, according to a recent report, with shipments expected to rise to around 86.4 million devices shipped in 2011.

Samsung Stratosphere LTE For Verizon Leaked

Another new smartphone headed to Verizon has been leaked, the new Samsung Stratosphere which is an LTE capable device, and it features a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

According to the guys over at Pocket Now, the Samsung Stratosphere is expected to be officially announced on Verizon Wireless later this week, and it will features a five megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3 megapixel camera up front.

LG Optimus 3D 2 Launching In 2012

The LG Optimus 3D is one of the first smartphones to be released with a 3D  glasses 3D display, and it looks like LG are working on a new version which will be announced in 2012.

Parrot AR.FreeFlight Quadricopter App Now Available For Android Devices (video)

If you have been patiently waiting for the Parrot piloting application to land on Android your wait is now over. As Parrot have just announced the arrival of their AR.FreeFlight Quadricopter piloting application for Android devices, and its now available to download for free from the Android Market.

Toshiba has just announced a new addition to its lineup of desktop all-in-one PC’s with the unveiling at this weeks IFA of the Toshiba Qosmio DX730. The Qosmio DX730 is equipped with a 23-inch multitouch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Enabling you to use gestures to navigate and control your applications on screen.

Sony Tablet S Goes Up For Pre-Order In The US

Last week Sony’s new Android tablet, the Sony Tablet S went up for pre-order in the UK, and now Sony has put up the Tablet S for pre-order in the US, with prices starting at $499.99 for the 16GB model and $599 for the 32GB model.

The Sony Tablet S comes with a 9.4 inch touchscreen display that features a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, it comes with Android 3.1 Honeycomb and processing is provided by a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.

Pantech Breakout LTE And Samsung Illusion Headed To Verizon

Dell To Partner With Baidu On Tablets And Smartphones

Baidu is China’s most popular search engine, and yesterday they announced that they will be launching their own mobile OS called Yi OS, and now it looks like the will be teaming up with hardware maker Dell for a range of smartphones and tablets.

There are no details as yet on exactly what Dell will be producing in terms of new smartphones and tablets running the Yi OS, although Dell mentioned the Dell streak in a recent interview with Reuters.

Samsung Galaxy Note European Pricing Revealed

Last week we saw the launch of a new Android device from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Note, which is a new gadget designed to replace your smartphone and tablet, and  now we have some actual details on the pricing, for Europe.

The Samsung Galaxy Note will retail for 549 Euros in Europe without a contract and 199 Euros with a contract with one of the European mobile carriers.

Game Stops Selling Used RROD Prone Xbox 360s

European game retailer and no doubt winner of many a Concise Retailer Name award Game has apparently taken to removing consoles from shelves. To be fair though, only 20 GB and non-HDMI Xbox 360s are getting the boot and a fair portion of those things shouldn’t have seen the light of retail to begin with. In fact, we applaud the initiative and we would have applauded it even more had they announced it the day they decided to sell used Xbox 360s in the first place.
