| Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S Lands In The UK 26th September For £349.99 Posted: 05 Sep 2011 08:43 AM PDT Last week Sony Ericsson announced a new version of the Xperia Arc smartphone, the Xperia Arc S, and now it looks like it will be available here in the UK from the 26th of September. Mobile retailer Clove has announced that they will start selling the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S for £349.99 on the 26th of September, and it will be available in two colors, Pure White and Midnight Blue.

| Screenshots Of Android Honeycomb On HTC Flyer Posted: 05 Sep 2011 08:33 AM PDT Earlier today we told you about the leaked ROM of Android Honeycomb for HTC’s Flyer tablet that had appeared online over the weekend, now we get our first look at some screenshots of Android Honeycomb on the Flyer, as well as a look at the Honeycomb UI. The picture below shows Android Honeycomb with the latest version of HTC Sense UI for the HTC Flyer, and it looks similar to the UI for that of the new HTC Jestream tablet.

| World Smallest Electric Motor Is Made From A Single Molecule Posted: 05 Sep 2011 08:23 AM PDT Researchers from the Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts have created the worlds smallest electric motor which is made from just a single molecule and measures an amazing a billionth of a metre, or just one nanometer across. The team led by associate professor of chemistry Charles Sykes were able to move a single butyl methyl sulfide molecule back and forth using a scanning tunnelling microscope and dropping the temperature of the molecule down to 5 Kelvin or 450F to be able to count the rotations of the molecule. | Lucasfilm’s New Sandcrawler Offices In Singapore (Pictures) Posted: 05 Sep 2011 08:10 AM PDT Lucasfilm are building some new offices in Singapore, and they have now revealed some renderings of what the new office building will look like, and as you can see from the photos below it looks like a Sandcrawler for the Star Wars movies from certain angles. The new Lucasfilm office building will feature a 100 seat theater and start of the art digital production facilities, and it was designed by Architects, Aedas.

| Asus To Launch $600 To $900 Ultrabooks In April 2012 Posted: 05 Sep 2011 07:37 AM PDT Intel’s plan for its new ultrabook platform is to get all manufacturers to retail their ultrabook notebooks for under $1,000, and we have already seen a few priced at under $1,000 with many other priced well over $1,000. Now according to a recent report, Acer is hoping to launch a new range of entry level ultrabook notebooks in April of 2012, with prices starting at around $600 up to $900.

| Google’s Android Grabs 47 Percent Of UK Smartphone Market Posted: 05 Sep 2011 06:22 AM PDT According to recent figures released by consumer analyst firm Kantar Worldpanel, Google’s Android has increased its share of the smartphone market here in the UK to 47.1 percent, which is then followed by RIM with their BlackBerry devices at 21.5 percent and Apple with 20.8 percent. The report also says that Symbian is around 7.2 percent and Windows mobile just a 1.7 percent of the total UK smartphone market. Android has increased from 22 percent for the same period in 2010.

| HTC Flyer Android Honeycomb ROM Leaked Posted: 05 Sep 2011 04:55 AM PDT The HTC Flyer went on sale back in May, and it came with Android Gingerbread, plus HTC custom user interface, HTC Sense, it looks like HTC intends to bring Android Honeycomb to the HTC Flyer, as an Android Honeycomb ROM for the Flyer has been leaked. The Honeycomb ROM for the HTC Flyer is apparently an early beta version, and there are no details as yet on when HTC will actually release Honeycomb for the Flyer.

| Apple Claims Android Infringes Apple API Patent Posted: 05 Sep 2011 04:49 AM PDT Apple has been suing a number of device manufacturers like HTC and Samsung who make smartphones running Google’s Android OS, and many people have speculated that Apple decided to go after the manufacturers on Android rather than Google directly. Now we hear the first accusation from Apple directly against Google, and it comes in the form of a recent filing with the ITC, where Apple are accusing Google’s Andy Rubin, who worked at Apple back in the 90′s of infringing their API.

| The Worlds First Electric Helicopter Takes To The Skies Posted: 05 Sep 2011 04:36 AM PDT Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular, we have featured a few here at Geeky Gadgets, and now Pascal Chretien has developed the worlds first electric helicopter. The helicopter made its first flight on the 12th of August, and the flight lasted a total of two minutes and 10 seconds, and is the first of many test flights of this electric powered helicopter.

Posted: 05 Sep 2011 03:15 AM PDT We have been hearing more and more rumors about the iPhone 5 over the last few weeks, on Friday we saw a photo of a case which is reported to be for the new iPhone 5, and this would mean that the iPhone 5 would feature a thinner design than the existing iPhone 4 and also a larger display. The guys over at Mac Rumors have put together some renders, based on a reported iPhone design document and have come to the conclusion that the iPhone 5 will feature a 4 inch screen.

| Lenovo Claims Samsung Sold 20,000 Galaxy Tab Tablets Out Of 1M Shipped Posted: 05 Sep 2011 03:02 AM PDT Samsung hasn’t released any details on how many of their Galaxy Tab tablets they actually sold last year, the company announced that they had shipped a total of one million Galaxy Tab tablets, but never released any actual sales figures for 2010. Now a Lenovo executive is saying that out of the 1 million Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets that were shipped to retailers, Samsung only actually sold 20,000 units, which is a pretty bold claim.
