Facebook Rolls Out Major Changes To User Privacy Settings (video) Posted: 23 Aug 2011 12:13 PM PDT Facebook has just rolled out a large update changing the way its user privacy setting are controlled, together with some new features that every Facebook user should be aware of. The latest update brings large amount of tweaks to the privacy settings but the major changes include: Inline Profile controls, Profile Tag Review, Content Tag Review, View Profile As, Inline Sharing Controls and Tag anyone. The new update now include a feature for users who are tagged in a post, within a photograph or video, to now have the option to confirm or remove their identity before it appears on their profile. To help user understand the major changes a little better Facebook has released a video demonstrating the new update to their privacy settings which can be viewed after the jump. Speech Recognition, How Its Changing Our Lives (infographic) Posted: 23 Aug 2011 09:19 AM PDT An informative infographic has been created showing how speech recognition impacts our lives and how its being used to change and develop our world. The infographic has been created by Medical Transcription and shows the technology used behind Automated Speech Recognition (ASR). Showing examples of areas we now take for granted and new areas that are currently under development like lie detection within banks and voice controlled applications. Google has already invested heavily in ASR development and hopes to push out new service using the technology. The reason Google’s ASR system works so well when you use it, is because Google is currently storing every spoken or written search terms entered into its systems, explains the infographic. Fossil’s Meta Watch Delayed Again Posted: 23 Aug 2011 07:25 AM PDT Unfortunately for some Fossil has today announced that their new Meta Watch which was expected to be launched in the last couple of months has been delayed again and will now launch sometime in September. The delay has been caused by a problems discovered within the devices’ programming clips used for micro-USB connections and the analog-digital version’s steel case. The meta watch has been designed to allow developers to create applications for the watch enabling additional functions using the embedded Bluetooth technology.
