Hollywood Forces Streaming Movie Rental Site Zediva to Close

If you are a fan of the streaming movie rental site Zediva you may be bummed to hear this. The site has been forced to close its doors, at least for now. Some of the Hollywood studios took the Zediva service to court over the method of streaming movies the site used.

Philips Unveils DiamondClean Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush with USB Charging

The Walnut Valet iPhone Dock

We have featured quite a few different iPhone docks here at Geeky Gadgets, the latest one is probably one of the most useful ones we have seen, the Walnut Valet iPhone Dock.

As well as being able to dock your iPhone, it can also store a white range of things, like your watch, wallet, a pen, your keys and much more, and you can even use it with your iPhone cable to charge or sync your iPhone.

Valve Launching A New Counter-Strike Game In 2012?

Rumours have escalated over the last few days that Valve could be looking to launch a new version of its classic Counter-Strike Game in 2012, called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Posts on the Steam forums seem to suggest that the new game is real, together with mentions of the new game on Twitter and gaming blogs.

HTC Vigor To Be The First Beats By Dre HTC Smartphone?

Yesterday we heard that HTC had invested $300 million for a stake of 51 percent in Beats Audio, that makes the popular Beats By Dre headphones, HTC also announced that they would be integrating Beats Audio into future HTC smartphones.

Now according to the guys over at Gizmodo, it looks like the first smartphone that will come with the Beats Audio is the HTC Vigor that we heard about a while back.

Tivo Premiere Elite Set-Top Box Arriving Next Month

This coming September Tivo will be introducing a new flagship set-top box called the Tivo Premiere Elite equipped with four tuners. But unlike the Tivo Premiere the Tivo Premiere Elite is restricted to digital cable broadcasts and no analogue channels will be supported. To sum up Digital Cable (via CableCards + decoder), or Verizon's FiOS will work fine but analog cable, ATSC, satellite and AT&T U-Verse will not.

HTC Sensation Gets Android 2.3.4 Update In Europe

It looks like HTC may have started releasing the Android 2.3.4 OTA update for the HTC Sensation in Europe, and the update is reported to be around 41MB in size and takes the HTC Sensation’s firmware up to version1.45.401.2.

According to the guys over at Euro Droid the update has started rolling out in Germany, and there are no details as yet on which other European countries have received the update.

Chinse Company Copies Japanese PaPeRo Robot (Video)

It seems that another device has been cloned in China, this time it isn’t an iPhone or an Android tablet, instead a Chinese company has decided to produce a copy of the Japanese PaPeRo Robot.

The robot which ic called the UNISROBO is almost identical to Japan’s NEC PaPeRo robot, have a look at the video of it in action below.

Portal 2 Wheatley Fan Made Puppet (video)

If you are a Portal 2 fan this Portal 2 Wheatley Puppet will definitely bring a smile to your face. Its been created by puppeteer and cosplay enthusiast TRP-Chan, who has brought the robo-ball Wheatley to life outside of the Portal 2 game using puppeteer skills.

The Portal 2 Wheatley Puppet is roughly 12 inches across and can be moved using a hole in his back to access its controls. Watch Wheatley in action after the jump.

Awesome iTableous, Giant White iPhone Hackintosh (video)

We have featured a few Hackintosh systems here on Geeky Gadgets over the years but iTableous, which has been created in the form of a giant white iPhone 4 has to be the best I have seen and uses a 102 cm (40") Toshiba LED-LCD with a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution.

The iTableous measures 1.2 m long and took around 4 months to complete and is fitted with full HD TV reception via DVB-T, an integrated DVD player, a mini-ITX board with dual boot options for both  OSX SL and Win 7, a 4 +1 sound system, HD-cam, microphone and external connections for Line In and USB. Together with an iPhone-Connection via Apple AV Composite Cable under the home button.

Dell Launches New Inspiron 13z And 14z Notebooks

Dell has added a couple of new notebooks to its Inspiron range with the launch of the Dell Inspiron13z and the Dell Inspiron 14z, and you get a choice of Intel Core i3 or Intel Core i5 processors.

The 13z features a 13.3 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which means it can handle HD content in 720p, and the 14z comes with a 14 inch display with the same 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover Headed To The UK Later This Year

The other day Samsung announced their first rugged Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover, hen it was announced we didn’t have any information on when ti would launch in the UK.

22 More Fake Apple Stores Discovered In China

Some of our reader will remember the fake Apple store, that was discovered in Kunming, China by the expatriate blogger Bird Abroad, the fake store ended up appearing on websites all over the world, and the Chinese authorities closed down a number of these stores.

It looks like the Chinese authorities have found even more of these fake Apple Store’s, with a total of 22 found in Kunming alone, and they have been ordered to stop using Apple’s logo and branding merchandise.

Google Releases New Beta Chrome With Native Client

Google has released a new beta version of its Chrome browser this week which is now integrated with Native Client, allowing C and C++ code to be seamlessly executed inside the browser with security restrictions similar to JavaScript.

Developers can use the open-source technology Native Client SDK to build web applications that seamlessly execute native compiled code inside the browser using the provided set of APIs.

HP TouchPad Go 7 Inch webOS Tablet Leaked

HP recently dropped the price of the original HP TouchPad, and we know that HP has been working on other models for a while now and it looks like HP will also be launching a 7 inch webOS based TouchPad the HP TouchPad Go.

According to a recent report the HP TouchPad Go will come with a 7 inch multi-touch display and it will feature a dual core 1.5GHz processor and a 3G radio, plus it will come with the latest version of HP’s webOS.

Droid Bionic Poses For The Camera

Researchers Hack FBI Radios Using $30 Childs Toy

It has been discovered that the portable radios used by many federal law enforcement agents have major security flaws and have allowed researchers to listen in on sensitive traffic sent without encryption over the past two years.

A new report on the findings has been released by team leader and computer science professor Matt Blaze from the University of Pennsylvania. That details how a child’s toy, the $30 IM Me can be used to jam radios used by the FBI and Homeland Security.

Sony Drops Google TV HDTV Prices

Google TV hasn’t exactly been as popular as Google hoped, which hardware being quite expensive when it launched we have seen Logitech drop the price of their Google TV set top box, the Logitech Revue.

And now it looks like Sony is following suit with its range of Google TV HDTVs, and it would appear that they are dropping the prices quite a bit in order to get some interest in the Google TV HDTVs.

First Android Ice Cream Sandwich Screesnshots Leaked

It looks like the first ever photos Google’s latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich has been leaked, and the guys over at Android Police have managed to get their hands on some photos f Ice Cream Sandwich running on a Google Nexus S.

As you can see from the photos it looks like there are a number of user interface changes, plus a number of other chnages which aren’t featured in the photos including a totally new theme for Gmail.

Apple normally holds its annual iPod event each year in September, this year we are expecting Apple to launch iOS 5, iCloud and the new iPhone 5 at the same time as they announce this years iPod Touch.

Facebook Revamps Facebook Gaming

It looks like Facebook has been waiting to launch its revamped gaming platform on Facebook, just a couple of hours after Google+ rolled out Google+ games, Facebook has announced that they have updated their gaming platform.

Facebook have made a number of changes to Facebook Games, which include a new game ticker, more room to play with a bigger gaming screen within your Facebook page, and the ability to bookmark your favourite games.

Resident Evil’s Paul WS Anderson: Directors Don’t Know Video Games
