It’s pretty hard not to like one of the few purveyors of quality hardcore RPGs left in the business either.

Asahi Kasei RFID Device Holds Medical Data

People that have life threatening allergies or medical conditions rely on things to let paramedics and doctors know what is wrong with them if they should be unable to respond. Many rely on bracelets, but a bracelet that says allergy does not often say enough to help. A Japanese firm called Asahi Kasei has a new product that is in the works that will be much more helpful.

Apple’s iTunes Replay Service Delayed By Movie Studios?

The other day we heard that Apple intends to launch a new movie streaming service, which will be called iTunes Replay, and it looks like the service may be suffering from some of the earlier problems that Apple had getting their iTunes Match music service off the ground.

Apple’s iTunes Match is scheduled to launch in September at the same time as Apple launches iOS 5, it took Apple quite some time to come to agreement with the record labels on the service and now it looks like the company is having similar problems with the movie studios.

Apple TV (2nd Gen) Running HTML 5 Based Game (video)

Apple’s 2nd generation TV device as yet won’t officially allow any applications to run on it. But one industrious hacker named appletvblack has been able to jailbreak the device and run a simple HTML 5 based card game.

Adding to the speculation that Apple’s TV device could one day eventually be able to play non jailbroken applications. Watch a brief video after the jump to see the hack in action.

Apple Sued Over OS X Fast Booting

According to the guys over at Patently Apple, a Florida based company called Operating Systems Solutions, has filed a patent lawsuit against Apple, and the company is alleging that Apple’s fast boot feature is OS X is infringing their patent.

It looks like the patent originally belong to LG back in 2002, and then another company called Promitus Technologies in 2008, there are no details on how OSS got their hands on the patent.

10 Year Old Hacker Finds iOS And Android Gaming Security Flaw

A 10 year old called CyFi has announced a flaw which she found in some Android and iOS games at this years DefCon hacker conference in las Vegas. CyFi discovered the bug whilst playing farming games, she was bored with the game taking so long and wanted to find a way to speed things up.

Simply by advancing the clock on her tablet or smartphone, she was able to find a way to speed up these farming games, for example when the clock was changed CyFi was able to produce crops within the game more quickly than she normally would have been able to.

Last week RIM announced its latest BlackBerry smartphones, one of those was the new BlackBerry Bold 9900, and Vodafone just dropped us an email to let us know that they now have the BlackBerry Bold 9900 up for pre-order.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 features a 2.8 inch touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard, processing is provided by a 1.2GHz processor and it also features a 5 megapixel camera.

Archos G9 Tablet Can Be Equipped With Optional 250GB Hybrid Drive

Archos has today announced that their new Android G9 tablet arriving in September, for a staring price of $300. Will now come with the option to fit it with a 250GB hybrid drive for additional storage.

The base model Archos G9 tablet will come equipped with 8GB of storage and include SD card slots to add additional memory if required. However if you feel the need for even more storage space, Archos have today announced the addition of a new option that allows you to upgrade to a 250 GB hybrid drive.  Combining a 250GB hard disk drive with a 4GB flash drive.

Apple launches $999 iMac For Education

Earlier today we heard a rumor that Apple would be launching a new lower priced iMac, and now according to the BGR this new lower priced iMac is now available on the Apple education store.

It looks like it is only available to education customers, and specifications wise it comes with a 21.5 inch display plus a 3.1GHz Intel Core i3 dual core processor, and 2GB of DDR3 RAM.

Left 4 Dead’s Next Map Can Be Unlocked Early By Playing Dead Air

Valve has released details over the weekend for Left 4 Dead fans, detailing they can now unlock the next new Left 4 Dead map early by playing Dead Air. So if you are a fan and would like to unlock the new map a little earlier, finish a complete game of Versus in “Dead Air” and you will receive an achievement.

Once 60,000 players have completed the achievement the beta version of “Blood Harvest,” the next map to be released, will be unlocked the following weekday.

Hackers Expose Android Design Flaw

Hackers at the DefCon conference have exposed a design flaw in Google’s Android OS that could possibly be used to steal data via phishing and also to bring annoying pop up adverts to Android devices.

According to the guys over at Cnet, if an android smartphone users decided to open a legitimate banking app, a fake pop up could be used with a fake log in page that would collect the users log in information.

Lumi Sleep Mask Wakes You Gently With A Virtual Sunrise

If you have trouble falling to sleep at night or waking in the morning due to the amount or lack of light in your room. A new sleep regulating device has been created called the Lumi Sleep Mask which provides you with your very own virtual sunrise half an hour before you need to rise, gently waking you.

The Lumi device started it journey from concept to production on the Kickstarter website and just like traditional sleep masks Lumi blocks out light to allow you to fall asleep even during the day. But unlike traditional masks it then uses a light unit inside to simulate a virtual sunrise. Simply sent the alarm on the side of the Lumi mask and wear it to sleep.

Quadshot, A RC Quadrocopter And Plane In One (Video)

Behind The Scene Look At Bungie’s Past, Present, And Future (video)

Motorola Droid Bionic Hits The FCC

Last week we got to find out some more specifications on the Motorola Droid Bionic, and now the Droid Bionic has appeared at the FCC, and it is now confirmed to feature a 4.3 inch qHD display like the leaked specifications showed last week.

The Motorola Droid Bionic’s 4.3 inch display is a qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, and it will also come with a 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor plus 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot which will bump the storage up to 64GB.

Sprint Samsung Conquer 4G Coming 21st August For $100

Some of our readers will remember the new Samsung Conquer 4G that Samsung and Sprint announced back in June, we now have some more details and it will go on sale from the 21st of August in the US for $100.

To get the Conquer 4G for $100 you will have to sign up for a new two year contract with Sprint, and the device comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features a 3.5 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

Official Ghostbusters Ghost Trap Arriving In October (video)

If you are the Ghostbusters movie fan you might be pleased to know that Mattel will be launching an official Ghostbusters ghost trap, that will be arriving in stores during October for $135.

The highly detailed Ghostbusters trap features two different modes 'prop' and 'movie', that use lighting and special sound effects to provide ghosts catching routines. Even after the imaginary ghost is caught the trap will continue to vibrating and light up.

Google’s Chrome OS For Tablets In Action (Video)

MobileMe Users Will Get 25GB Of iCloud Storage

Apple recently announced its pricing plans for its new iCloud service, which will replace Apple’s MobileMe service, and new users of the iCloud service will get 5GB of storage for free.

If you want to purchase additional storage for iCloud, an extra 20GB of storage will cost you $40 per year, good news for existing MobileMe users, as they will get the extra 20GB of storage for free if they migrate their MobileMe account to iCloud.

Apple To Launch Sub $1,000 iMac?

Prices for Apple’s entry level model iMac start at $1,199, for this you get a 21.5 inch display and a quad core Intel i5 processor plus 4GB of RAM, now according to a recent report Apple will be launching a sub $1,000 iMac aimed at the education market.

The new lower priced iMac is reported to come with the same 21.5 inch display as the existing model and will probably come with a dual core processor and 2GB of RAM plus a 250GB hard drive plus AMD Radeon HD 6570M graphics with 256MB of RAM.

Google’s Self Driving Car Involved In Car Crash

Google has been testing out self driving cars for a while now, and it looks like one has now been involved in a car accident, although from the report this was down to human error, like most car crashes, rather than the self driving vehicle causing the accident.

According to Jalopink, one of Google’s self driving Toyota Prius was involved in an accident with another Toyota Prius, and a few other cars, close to Google’s headquarters, in Mountain View, California.

Samsung Hercules, T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II

The Samsung Galaxy S II has been a massive success for Samsung, we recently heard that Samsung had sold over 5 million Samsung Galaxy S II smartphones in under three months, and the device is about to go on sale in the US shortly.

The Samsung Galaxy S II will be available with a range of mobile operators in the US, and now it looks like it is headed to T-Mobile as the Samsung Hercules.

Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 5 To Developers

Apple has released the latest beta version of iOS 5 to developers, iOS 5 Beta 5, along with iTunes Beta 5, and it looks like iOS Beta 5 includes a number of bug fixes rather than any major new features.

The update is available to iOS developers for their iOS devices as an OTA update, so we guess Apple is testing out the OTA update feature which will deliver our iOS updates to us in the future.

Orbit,The Swiveling iPhone and Smartphone Suction Mount Stand

We have featured lots of different iPhone and smartphone stands here at Geeky Gadgets, the latest one is called the Orbit, and it is the work of Jon Norton and Joe Molinari, who are hoping to put the stand into production, through Kickstarter.

The Orbit feature two suction mounts, one to connect to your smartphone and one to connect to a desk or other flat surface, the stand can also be used in a variety of different ways.
