How People In Science Graphic Is Incredibly Revealing Posted: 19 Aug 2011 07:52 AM PDT The graphic is titled ‘How people is science see each other’ and its goal is to humorously depict perception within the confines of academe. We never realized professor’s thought undergrounds were Megan Fox-sexy. Then again, we might be missing the point. The self-image of technicians are golden though. Hint: a timeless action hero sums up the glory of being an indestructible lab wizard. Smiley Face Ring Is A Not-So-Subtle Fashion Cue Posted: 19 Aug 2011 07:44 AM PDT Created by Chao & Eero Jewel, the smiley face ring is what would be deemed a neutral fashion accessory. It caters to neither sexes but fits both male and female wearers. As seen in the picture below, the ring forms a smiley face on the finger it’s worn on. Not sure if it’ll also leave a smiley face on the person you decide to punch. Not So Flashy Wrist Gadget Keeps Tab On Your Eating Posted: 19 Aug 2011 07:36 AM PDT It’s unattractive, dull, and strikes one as a late 80s digital wristwatch. Indeed, it’s apparent very little effort went to making this latest wrist contraption sexy. But maybe that’s the point. See, what it does is keep tab of circular wrist motions similar to what’s done when eating. Sleep On the Moon With Moon Shaped Floor Pillow Posted: 19 Aug 2011 07:24 AM PDT Since pillows and mattresses are just boring, it falls upon designers to reinvent the medium, so to speak. Seen bellow is a full moon being slept on by a model. It’s not a camera trick or some artist’s fevered vision. It’s a collaborative project between Lili Suh and Chin Wei Loon. The latter is an astrophotographer and multiple frames of the moon surface that he photogrpahed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were used to piece together the giant pillow. iWrench iPhone 4 Stand Is Clever But Almost Useless Posted: 19 Aug 2011 07:16 AM PDT There are a lot of iPhone stands in the world. Some are functional, others are plain silly. This iWrench belongs to the latter. The problem seems to be not the whole concept behind using a wrench to prop up an iPhone. The problem is the size of this wrench keeps it from being useful as a wrench. Why would you need to have an iPhone stand when you can’t fix the plumbing? 13 Year Old Uses Fibonacci Sequence To Increase Solar Panel Efficiency By 50 Percent Posted: 19 Aug 2011 05:47 AM PDT Aidan Dwyer is just 13 years of age, but has been able to use the Fibonacci Sequence to increase the efficiency of solar panels yielding 50 percent more with his new design than a standard flat solar panel. Aidan had a eureka moment while hiking in the Catskills and was intrigued by the patterns tree branches produce. After a more in-depth look he discovered that the branches of the trees were created using the Fibonacci sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, …** (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | Unauthorized duplication and or distribution of our content is strictly forbidden © Geeky Gadgets, 2011 |

Russia And Europe Want To Conquer Mars Posted: 19 Aug 2011 03:56 AM PDT By ‘conquer’ is meant a full fledged but otherwise benign mission to the Red Planet scheduled in the near future. A short while ago the Mars 500 simulation got featured here in the spotlight. Mars 500 is basically six guys living in the confines of a ‘spacehsip’ for 500 days. The whole point is to see how well (or worse) humans are going to fare on the long trip to mars. Chinese Geniuses Have An Idea For Deflecting Scary Apophis Asteroid Posted: 19 Aug 2011 03:52 AM PDT Take note that we carefully chose the perfect word to describe this delicate (and 100% theoretical) operation. What a team of physicists from Tsinghua University plan to do is launch a small solar-sail powered spacecraft to intercept the asteroid and smash it off course. The tiny details involving such a hair-raising operation are still vague, which is understandable. For starters, who’ll build the spaceship? Bloon Is The Simplest Semi-Orbital Craft Ever Posted: 19 Aug 2011 03:45 AM PDT Or should it be suborbital? It’s basically a large helium balloon that goes up, up, up until the passengers feel they can touch the stars. The people who got the idea of the ground is a Barcelona based company called zero2infinity and they are now accepting reservations for a 2013-2015 schedule. The whole idea of this project called ‘bloon’ is to make pseudo-space flight a little more exciting adventure without the attendant hardware, i.e. Virgin Galactic. Check Out This Ridiculous I.dear Wooden Zoo Whale iPhone Stand Posted: 19 Aug 2011 03:41 AM PDT The above is also quite a ridiculous title for a post but it couldn’t be helped considering tis subject: a whale accessory called Wooden Zoo. Dr. R.E. Cycler Robot Crushes Cans Without Remorse Posted: 19 Aug 2011 03:37 AM PDT You should be glad it doesn’t crush human skulls. But that’s in the near future, when the War has begun. Anyway, for now they’re just cans. Long story short, high tech firm Florida Robotics built Dr. R.E. Cycler to educate the youth about the recycling process. What the Dr. does is pretty visceral; each time it’s fed/given a can, it literally crushes it. Awed onlookers can then watch the scrap aluminum collect in what passes for Dr. R.E. Cycler’s stomach. Or they can pose for Facebook pics. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | Unauthorized duplication and or distribution of our content is strictly forbidden © Geeky Gadgets, 2011 |

How will that work? See, DARPA and NASA have this 100 Year Starship initiative whose ultimate goal is to begin the process of interstellar travel. Note: ‘to begin the process.’ As far as we know, DARPA doesn’t have any idea where in the galaxy a starship should begin looking for a habitable world. Also, they think forking the problem to a willing band of adventurers is a good idea. Well, so do we. Valve Want EA On Steam, Apparently Posted: 18 Aug 2011 03:18 PM PDT Whether EA’s Origin is just a show of strength to open up a new revenue stream by prying DLC from Steam’s clutches or an earnest attempt at chipping away a few flakes off Valve’s granite foothold in the PC digital delivery market, the relationship between the two companies is growing… tense. Valve bossman Gabe Newell, however, seems to believe there’s still hope for a reconciliation, despite Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 not putting in a Steam appearance.
