The device has been designed and created to help emergency personal rapidly map complex interiors and spaces, and has been developed using funding from the US Air Force and the Office of Naval Research. The Eken B70 tablet will be supplied running Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, and comes equipped with a capactive touchscreen 800 x 480 pixel display. The Eken B70 Android 4.0 tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 single core processor, supported by 512MB RAM. | Apple Ordering Parts For New Device Made From Carbon Fiber (Rumor) Posted: 26 Sep 2012 07:11 AM PDT We have heard rumors in the past that Apple has been considering using carbon fiber in some of its devices, and now according to a recent report from Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple has requested carbon fiber samples for device parts from a Japanese company. There are no details as yet on what exactly the carbon fiber parts would be used for, but apparently quite a few parts have been ordered, more than would normally be ordered as a sample.

| Samsung Announces Fix For Remote Data Wipe Security Issue Posted: 26 Sep 2012 02:33 AM PDT Yesterday we heard about a new security issue discovered on Samsung’s Galaxy S III smartphone, if you visited a website that contained a particular line of code, you handset would be remotely wiped. The line of code was capable of triggering a factory reset of the Samsung Galaxy S III, and now Samsung has announced that they have a fix for the issue and it is being released as an over the air update.

| Apple Still Had Over A Year Left On Maps Contract With Google Posted: 26 Sep 2012 01:16 AM PDT Earlier today we heard that Google are working on a new Google Maps apps for Apple’s iOS devices, Apple replaced Google Maps with their own Maps App on the iPhone and iPad last week. There has been speculation that one of the reasons that Apple replaced Google Maps so quickly was that their contract was due to run out, although according to The Verge, Apple and Google had over a year left on their Maps contract.

As well as the new Nook HD and Nook HD+, Barnes & Noble are also launching two other devices in the UK, the Nook Simple Touch and the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight.

| Samsung Galaxy Note II Launches In South Korea Posted: 26 Sep 2012 12:41 AM PDT We heard yesterday that Samsung’s new Galaxy Note II smartphone will launch in the UK next Monday the 1st of October, and now the first Galaxy Note II handsets have gone on sale in South Korea. Samsung is expecting the Galaxy Note II to be more popular than the original Galaxy Note, which ended up selling over 10 million units since it was launched, and Samsung are expecting to sell three times more of the Galaxy note II.

| RIM’s CEO Says They Have A ‘Clear Shot’ At Being Number Smartphone 3 Platform Posted: 26 Sep 2012 12:29 AM PDT RIM hasn’t exactly had the best year, but according to RIM’s CEO Thorsten Heins that may be about to change as he has said that RIM has a ‘clear shot’ at becoming the number three smartphone platform. Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS are the top two smartphone platforms, and for RIM to become number three then they would have to overtake Symbian, this is something they could possibly achieve with the launch of their new BlackBerry 10 platform which will launch with new devices early next year.

| Google Maps Coming To iPhone And iPad By The End Of 2012 (Rumor) Posted: 26 Sep 2012 12:06 AM PDT Google Maps has been on Apple’s iOS devices since the first iPhone was launched back in 2007, it was replaced last week by Apple’s own Maps App which has come under a lot of criticism since it was released. Yesterday we heard from Google’s Eric Schmidt that Google has not submitted a new Google Maps app to Apple for approval, and he also didn’t say when Google intended to launch a stand alone Google Maps app for Apple’s iOS.

The B&N Nook HD is a 7 inch tablet that comes with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels and 243 ppi, and it also comes with a dual core 1.3GHz Texas Instruments processor.
