Android Market Now Installs Apps On Officially Unsupported Devices

Google has this week rolled out a new update for its Android Market place, which has added support for additional unofficially supported devices. The new devices to now be included within the Android Market for applications to be installed on them include : HP TouchPad, Barnes & Noble NOOK Tablet, and Amazon Kindle Fire.

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus Lands In The US

We are still waiting for both Verizon and Samsung to confirm the official launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for the US, it is rumored to hit some time in December, possibly December the 8th.

If you cant wait until then it looks like one US retailer is now selling an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, although it isn’t cheap as they are selling it for $749.99.

Corsair Sets New Memory Frequency World Record

Corsair has this week unveiled they have broken and set a new Memory Frequency World Record. Reaching an impressive 1733.8MHz (DDR3-3467), using Corsair Dominator GT CMGTX6 extreme-performance DDR3 memory.

Corsair used a specially constructed rig to obtain the new world record, which was equipped with a liquid nitrogen cooled computer system using a AMD FX-8150 processor and of course 1GB of Corsair Dominator GT extreme-performance DDR3 memory.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hidden Morrowind and Cyrodiil Landmass Discovered

The new The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game is already a massive world to explore and adventure in. But even more landmass has been discovered by a gamer in Finland, who travelled to the Southern-easternmost edge of Skyrim, Stendarr’s Beacon. Where he discovered a path that ends in an invisible wall at a stone archway, which theoretically would lead to lands of Morrowind.

To investigate more he jumped into non clip mode and ventured past the gate, and into Morrowind. As he progressed the textures started to detail down. But the discovery of the addition landmass, might indicate a new DLC that might open it up at a later date.

Sennheiser X320 Gaming Headset For Xbox Announced

Sennheiser has launched their latest headset, and this one is designed for Microsoft’s Xbox 360, the Sennheiser X320 gaming headset, and it comes with XL designed ear cups which are supposed to provide extra comfort.

Other features on the Sennheiser X320 gaming headset include noise canceling microphones, dual game and chat volume controls, and a mute microphone feature that is activate when the microphone is swivelled back.

Sony Ericsson Nypon LT22i Android 4.0 ICS Handset Leaked (Video)

It looks like Sony Ericsson has another Android smartphone in the works, as well as the Nozomi which we saw recently, details have been revealed of the Sony Ericsson Nypon LT22i.

According to the guys over at Recombu, the Sony Ericsson Nypon will features a qHD display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, and it will run Sony’s own processor, the NovaThor U8500, which is a dual core 1GHz processor, which you can see in action in the video below.

LG Optimus 3D Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Now Available

LG announced recently that the Optimus 3D would be getting updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and the update would also bring a range of new features to the device, and it looks like the update has now started rolling out.

According to LG the update is supposed to bring some new 3D specific features which include 3D video editing and 3D to 2D video conversion at higher bit rates to the Optimus 3D.

The Hidden Radio and Bluetooth Speaker is the work of designers John Van Den Niewenhuizen and Vitor Santa Maria, basically it is a Bluetooth speaker for your smartphone or tablet with a built in radio.

As you can see from the photo an video below, the Hidden Radio and Bluetooth Speaker has a minimalist design, and the top of the device is lifted to access the speaker.

AAXA have unveiled their new P4 Pico Projector which has become the worlds brightest projector pushing out 80 lumens from its ultra-bright LED light engine. The AAXA P4 Pico Projector is powered by a Windows CE ARM processor supported by 2GB of onboard memory.

It measures just 5.6" x 2.7" x 1.2" making it truly pocket sized and portable. Its equipped with an internal lithium battery, which can provide up to 75+ on a full charge, and the devices supports MP4, MP3, AVI, JPG, and WinCE file formats.

Apple Investing Heavily In iCloud?

Apple’s iCloud service launched with Apple’s iOS 5, the service replaces Apple’s MobileMe service and it is designed to be used with the new iPhone 4S and Apple’s iOS 5 devices.

The iCloud service certainly isn’t finished, and there are number of features that we would like Apple to add to the service, which would improve it, we recently heard that Apple may be planning to add a DropBox style feature to iCloud.

Microsoft Says Xbox Live Has Not Been Hacked

There have been reports over the last few days here in the UK that Microsoft’s Xbox Live has been hacked, the news came from the Sun newspaper, hardly the most reliable source, and now Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Live has not been hacked.

Microsoft has said that the people who were affected were unfortunate enough to fall for a phising scam, and now Microsoft are looking into the matter.

HTC Considering Developing Chromebook Style Device?

According to reports HTC maybe considering creating a new HTC Chromebook, which will be designed to combine the “advantages” of both Android and Chrome OS, into a “internet-access device”.

The DigiTimes is reporting that component makers are suggesting the HTC is considering the move, and would create something in-between a tablet PCs and a notebook.

Sailrocket Craft Capable Of Reaching 60 mph On Water (video)

A new sailing boat has been created called the Vestas Sailrocket Mk.II (VSR2), which is capable of reaching up to 60 mph on water, using just the wind for propulsion.

The new Sailrocket is able to reach such speeds due to its design, which enables the craft to lift out of the water and only touch it by a couple of fins, reducing drag. Watch the video after the jump which shows the 18th run of the Sailrocket.

LG Optimus LTE Lands On Bell Canada

The LG Optimus LTE was announced a while back in South Korea, and we are expecting LG to announced the US version of the Optimus LTE at their event on the 1st of December.

The device is now available for Bell Canada, and it features a 4.5 inch IPS HD display which comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, plus a dual core 1.5GHz processor.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Hits The US In December?

There certainly is a lot of confusion over when exactly the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will launch in the US, we have heard rumors of various dates, the last one being the 8th of December.

Now it would appear that Samsung has confirmed to Business Insider that the Galaxy Nexus will be available in the US on Verizon Wireless in December, although it does seem a little strange that the news comes from Samsung rather than Verizon.

China Becomes The World’s Largest Smartphone Market

According to a recent report by research firm Strategy Analytics, China is now the worlds largest smartphone market, taking the top spot from the United States, with over 23.9 million smartphones shipped in China for the third quarter.

This compares to 23.3 million smartphones shipped in the US for the same quarter, and surprisingly Nokia is in the lead in China’s smartphone market with a 28 percent share.

White Samsung Galaxy S II Headed To T-Mobile

The white version of the Samsung Galaxy S II went on sale in the UK back in September, and now the device is headed to T-Mobile in the US, and shares the same specifications as the existing T-Mobile Galaxy S II.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S II on T-Mobile features a 4.52 inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display, there is also Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and it features a dual core 1.5GHz processor.

Microsoft Acquires VideoSurf For Xbox Live Integration

In a press release sent out today, Microsoft has announced that it has acquired VideoSurf. The VideoSurf company is like a Shazam for video, and enables you to search and “tag” individual frames of videos in real time to deliver more accurate video searches.

Over the coming month Microsoft is looking to bring new content to their Xbox Live service, with the addition of nearly 40 world-leading TV and entertainment providers. Where their new acquisition will provide Microsoft’s video partners with the ability take full advantage of features such as voice search, which is now a feature on Microsoft’s Kinect motion controller for the Xbox 360.

LG To Unveil New Smartphones December 1st

id Software Doom 3 GPL Source Code Now Available To Download

id Software co-founder John Carmack announced back at the beginning of November that the Doom 3 source code was ready from release to the general public, and was just waiting for approval of the companies legal team. Sony’s Tablet P Android Tablet Lands In The UK

Sony’s first Android tablet, the Sony Tablet S went on sale a while back, and we haven’t heard anything about their other Android tablet, the Sony Tablet P, until now, as the device has just gone on sale here in the UK.

UK retailer Dixons is now listing the Sony Tablet P for sale, and the dual screen Android tablet is available for £499.99 and it looks like the company has the device in stock.

Microsoft Creating New Kinect Hardware Specifically For Windows, Launching Early 2012

Following on for the announcement of the Kinect  for Windows commercial program a few weeks back. Microsoft has this week announced it is currently developing new Kinect hardware device specifically designed for Windows. Which Microsoft hopes to launch in early 2012.

Microsoft explains they are currently building on the existing Kinect for Xbox 360 and are tweaking the firmware and hardware components to more closely work with Windows computers.

Galaxy Nexus Software Update To Fix Volume Bug On The Way

Yesterday we heard about the volume bug on the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone, one online retailer even decided to stop selling the Galaxy Nexus because of the issue, and now Google has responded to the problem.

It looks like the Galaxy Nexus volume bug is related to software rather than hardware on the device, and Google is working on an update which will solve the issue, as they told the guys from Android Police the following.

The Ant Roach, Giant Inflatable Robot (Video)

The Ant Roach is a 15 foot inflatable walking robot created by Otherlab, the robot was created to demonstrate how inflatable structures can be used to carry heavy items and it has a high strength to wait ratio.

The videos below show the Ant Roach in action, and it is made up of textile based actuators which can contract when the robot is inflated, the muscles are then driven by manifolds in the center of the robot which pump out compressed air.

VIA ARTiGO 1150 Barebones Nettop PC (Video)

VIA has released another small form factor PC, the VIA ARTiGO 1150 barebones nettop, and the device measures 5.7 inches by 3.9 inches by 2 inches, and it is powered by a dual core 1GHx VIA Eden X2 processor.

The ARTiGO can take up to 4GB of RAM and there is room for one 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or solid state drive (SSD), plus it comes with five USB ports, HDMI, VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, the video below shows just how small it is.

Sony Reveals PS Vita Launch Titles, Coming February 2012

Yesterday we heard that Sony had teamed up with mobile carrier for the European PlayStation Vita 3G, and now Sony has revealed what PS Vita games will be available at launch in Europe.

Sony has said that from February 2012 there will be a number of games available for the PS Vita, so we presume this is the actual launch date of the console in Europe.

Xbox 360 Dashboard Update adds Gesture Control Dec 6

Star Wars Hot Beverages, Drink Them You Will

One of the most revered film franchises in all of geekdom is Star Wars. Anytime something new that is Star Wars branded comes out it catches my eyes. When the stuff is from ThinkGeek, I really get excited. ThinkGeek always has the coolest Star Wars gear. The latest beverage set would look great with that vintage Star Wars lunch box I have from when I was a kid on the shelf in the kitchen.
