Microsoft has today unveiled plans to release a commercial software development kit (SDK) for its Kinect motion controller device in nearly 2012. The new SDK will enable developers of third-party applications to create commercial software for Microsoft Windows and incorporate the motion control features of the device within it. Microsoft has already been running a pilot scheme for a new SDK which already has 200 companies signed up including the likes of Toyota and Razorfish, and also released a non commercial SDK for their Kinect device which allows enthusiasts and students to take advantage of the motion controllers features. The HTC Explorer comes with a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, and it comes with Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 and features HTC's Sense 3.5 UI. Google Street View Goes Indoors Posted: 31 Oct 2011 05:13 AM PDT It has been unveiled this week that Google has been trialling its Google Street View technology indoors expanding on its Google Art Project. With the aim of allowing users of Google Street maps to be able to view the interiors of buildings and businesses. The new service for businesses will allow customers to see the interior of their premises and is currently being offered by Google on a voluntary basis and is currently only on trial at the moment. 360 degree fisheye lenses are being used to create views of the selected businesses which are then being added to Google maps. iPhone 4S Poor Battery Caused By iOS5 Location Services Bug? Posted: 31 Oct 2011 02:25 AM PDT It’s been discovered that a bug within Apple’s iOS 5 software could be responsible for the poor battery life that some users are experiencing on their iPhone 4S smartphones. The bug is thought to be in the Location Services of iOS 5 which causes the iPhone to poll the mobile mast data more frequently than necessary which then causes the battery life of the iPhone to drop. The issue seems to occur when the “Setting Time Zone” element of the Systems Services within the broader Location Services product is running even when there is no chance that the user would have moved to a different location or time zone.
