Google to Launch Wireless Internet Provider Services Posted: 25 May 2013 05:27 AM PDT You've probably heard about Google Fiber, Google's own internet service provider plans that have brought faster internet to certain cities than ever before at a very reasonable price. The company is continuing to further their Fiber efforts, but it's also looking to start providing wireless internet services in select markets. The goal will be to give internet access to people in more rural areas, such as Southeast Asia and sub Saharan Africa. However the plan goes further than that. Apparently a few large cities will be equipped with Google's wireless internet service, primarily the ones that already have Fiber. Google is currently talking with South African regulators to have restrictions removed in order to be able to build the necessary equipment they need to provide this service to the people.

Posted: 25 May 2013 05:25 AM PDT Yahoo! May have just bought Tumblr for $1.1 billion, but it still has another $4 billion to spare. Apparently that money is burning a hole in Yahoo!'s pocket. According to a source for Brittney Hillen at Slash Gear, Thursday morning Yahoo! bid an unknown amount for Hulu. However, Yahoo! isn't the only company in the mix. Time Warner Cable, The Chernin Group and Guggenheim Digital are just a few of the suitors trying to buy Hulu. Hulu expressed a desire to sell back in March and has been accepting bid proposals ever since. The Chernin Group offered a reported $500 million.

Urine Analysis? There’s an App for that! Posted: 25 May 2013 05:23 AM PDT In an odd twist of events, the Federal Drug Administration, aka FDA, has sent a letter to the developers of a medical iPhone app called uChek that analyzes pictures of urine and gives users a read out of the state of their health. The FDA said in the letter that the makers of uChek had thirty days to either prove it had received the agency's okay to publish or explain why it didn't need the FDA's approval. How does the app analyze a picture of urine to tell you how healthy you are? It works off chemical strips and analyzes the different colors to allow the user to check certain aspects of their health. One example used by the source material is a diabetic checking his or he blood sugar. Microsoft and Google to Co-develop Youtube App Posted: 25 May 2013 05:19 AM PDT It wasn't too long ago when Microsoft developed and published a Youtube app of their own to get the attention of Google – who'd failed to provide the Windows Phone with an official Youtube app. Yes, some feelings were hurt, but now the two have reached an agreement and will be co-developing a better Youtube app for the Windows Phone. It's one of the most used apps between Android and iPhone users. Microsoft wasn't happy to see their phone being left out in the cold, so they took matters into their own hand and created a Youtube app of their own. Youtube was outraged, claiming the app was not within the compliance standard of their terms of agreement. Xbox to Combat Used Games Market Posted: 25 May 2013 05:16 AM PDT If you hadn't already heard, the Xbox One – Microsoft's next console – was announced last Tuesday. For a while now there were rumors that the system might only work if it was online, or have some other fail safe that would restrict or altogether prohibit the use of used video games. Turns out the rumors weren't far from the truth. While a constant internet connection will not be required, installation of every game will be. If you don't install the game, it won't work. Each game will be registered with a person's individual Xbox Live account upon being installed. If a second person wants to play the game off the same disk, they'll have to pay a one-time fee.
