Google & Apple App Store Privacy Policies Called For By Senator Franken Posted: 26 May 2011 10:26 AM PDT Democratic senator Al Franken has sent a letter to Apple & Google asking for additional privacy measures to be implemented for the app stores the two companies are operating. ”Unfortunately, neither of your companies requires that apps on your stores have a privacy policy. As a result, a significant portion and potentially a majority of apps on your stores lack privacy policies,” according to Franken.

Student-Made Solar Pizza Boxes Burn With Ingenuity Posted: 26 May 2011 09:48 AM PDT Leftover pizza are the orphans of great parties. What to do with the poor fellas the morning after? Eat them, of course, except that pristine yumminess might be gone after the stiff slices have been microwaved back to warmth. To curb energy use and be eco-efficient, a bunch of high schoolers built several crude solar heaters specifically modeled to hold pizza. Ah, the Youth. If this is the face of modern innovation, a bright future lies ahead. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
Alien Ostrich Pillow Is For The Power Nap Set Posted: 26 May 2011 09:40 AM PDT If you’re the type who’s susceptible to napping during break time, this Ostrich pillow looks like the perfect accessory. Ostriches bury their head in the sand, right? Right. The same concept animates the sack pictured below that looks like a giant sucking alien devouring your brains. It’s weird and claustrophobic, but actually quite snug. However, if you’ve ever fallen asleep on top of a laptop or some hardcover book, the Ostrich pillow is a god-send. Lying on a hard surface, you drool, you get a stiff neck, etc. etc. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |

Posted: 26 May 2011 08:25 AM PDT Mid-level Android smartphones start to blend together after a while and the HTC Desire S is not one to stand out by much, at least visually. It's fairly light and moderately slim seeing how there's no keyboard, but the one word that perfectly describes it is generic. Join us, however, as we plumb the hidden depths of this seemingly innocuous smartphone, starting with the screen, a larger than average 3.7" 800×480 SLCD number, continuing the HTC trend of absolutely no AMOLED screens under any circumstances.
