Fujitsu Unveils H910 and H710 Workstation Laptops

Fujitsu has unveiled a pair of new workstation laptops that promise the power to run intensive apps like CAD/CAM offerings. Fujitsu says that the machines deliver power previously only offered in desktop workstations. The machines include the Celsius H910 and the Celsius H710 notebooks. They differ in hardware and specs.

Netgear Unveils DGND3700 Dual-Core DSL Home Gateway

It seems like everything is going dual-core today from notebooks and desktops down to the low-end of the spectrum, to tablets and smartphones. Netgear has announced the first DSL home Gateway that packs inside a dual-core processor. That processor promises to speed things up.

According to Netgear, that dual-core processor allows the user to run simultaneous high bandwidth apps without issues. The N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router also has an ADSL2+ modem inside to handle your modem duties and is combined with an 802.11n WiFi router. The WiFi router is a dual band router.

LA Noire Becomes Fastest Selling New Video Game In UK

Chart-Track has revealed today that Team Bondi’s crime drama LA Noire, which launched for the Xbox 360 and PS3, debuts at the top of the All Formats Chart, becoming the fastest-selling new video game IP ever in the UK.

Sales are on a par with the launch of Rockstar's previous chart topper 'Red Dead Redemption' which was released exactly a year ago. LA Noire is now the 13th fastest-selling Xbox 360 game in the UK and the 11th fastest on PS3.

52 Inch Glasses Free HDTV Released In Japan

The major problem with 3D TVs at the moment is that you have to wear a pair of 3d glasses, and a number of manufacturers are working to produce 3D glasses free HDTV’s.

Nissho Electronics in Japan has just announced the BDL5231-32R, which is a 52 inch glasses free 3D HDTV and it comes with a Full HD resolution and can playback video in 1080p.

Firefox 5 Desktop And Mobile Browser Beta Released

Mozilla has announced the release of its latest beta client for its Firefox 5 browser which is currently under development for both desktops and mobile devices, as part of Mozilla’s new accelerated release schedule.

The latest release of Firefox 5 looks very similar to the current RC version of Firefox 4 apart from the introduction of the new channel changer intergration and the relocation of Mozilla's Do Not Track opt-in to the privacy tab of the Firefox settings. Together with added support for HTML5, MathML, SMIL, and CSS animations.

Glasses Free iPad 3D Interface App Now Available In iTunes (video)

If you enjoy a little 3D without the need to wear 3D glasses you might please to know the i3D application for iPhone and iPad we featured here on Geeky Gadgets back at the beginning of April has now arrived in the Apple iTunes App Store and is available to download for free.

The i3D application uses a feed from the front-facing camera, together with software called Head-Coupled Perspective (HCP), to track the position of a person's head in 3D in real-time. Its relies on solely face tracking and doesn’t use the accelerometers or the gyroscopes within the iOS devices.

TDK Sound Cube

Following on from its Digital Boombox, TDK have this week unveiled a new sound creation in the form of the TDK Sound Cube which has speakers positioned on all four sides, delivering 360 degrees of sound.

The TDK Sound Cube is equipped with 2 x 5 1/4-inch coaxial drivers and creates 20 Watts using 12 x D batteries or the provided AC power supply. Although TDk hasn’t revealed how long the Sund Cube will function on some many batteries.

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Update To Add 500 New Features To WP7

Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer recently spoke at the Japanese Developer Forum 2011, and revealed some new information about the upcoming Windows 7.5 ‘Mango’ update for Windows Phone 7.

According to Steve Ballmer, Windows Phone 7.5 will bring a total of 500 new features to Windows Phone 7 devices, although that sounds impressive we don’t have any details on these 500 features, besides what we previously knew would be included in Windows Phone 7.5.

HP Says Their webOS Tablets Will Be Better Than The iPad

HP has announced that their range of webOS based tablets will become more popular the the Apple iPad, which is currently the number one selling tablet, and they are looking to emulate their success in the PC market according to HP’s European head Eric Cador.

Eric Cador, recently announced at a press conference in Cannes that their HP tablets would be better than the number one tablet, the iPad.

Sony Shows Off 13.3 Inch Organic TFT Flexible E Ink Prototype

Sony has demoed a new flexible E Ink prototype display, which uses an Organic TFT (OTFT) panel, ans measures 13.3 inches, the display features a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 and a 150ppi.

The display is flexible as you can see in the photos below, and the prototype black and white flexible display has 16 shades of gray and can be bent to a curvature radius of about 5mm.

Sony Launches PSP Remaster Series for PlayStation 3 (video)

If you have enjoyed  playing games on your PSP, but have wondered what they would look like in full HD on a larger screen. You will be pleased to know Sony have just unveiled their new PSP Remaster Series for PlayStation 3 which brings great PSP games to the PS3, fully remaster.

Sony will be porting a number of select portable game titles to the PS3 in glorious full HD Blu-ray, together with some new add-on content plus stereoscopic 3D support in some cases. Watch a video of examples, showing how Sony has remastered PSP games to now play on their PS3 with upgraded graphics and effects after the jump.

Hulu Plus Arrives on TiVo Premiere DVR’s

TiVo has today announced the arrival of Hulu Plus on TiVo Premiere DVR’s and to celebrate the new arrival Hulu Plus is giving all new TiVo Premiere buyers six months of the service for free on all newly purchased DVR devices.

The free service is also available to current TiVo users, but no details have been released as to how long the service will be free. After which the Hulu Plus subscriptions on the TiVo Premiere DVRs will be available for $7.99 a month with limited advertising.

Apple About To Release A 64GB iPhone 4?

We have heard rumors about a 64GB iPhone 4 before here at Geeky Gadgets, earlier this year a 64GB iPhone 4 appeared on the web in photos and a video, and now the rumors have surfaced again that Apple may be about to announce a 64GB iPhone 4.

According to the guys over at This Is My Next, who have managed to get their hands on an internal memo from a Verizon retailer, Russell Cellular which mentions a 64GB white iPhone 4.

Apple Among Top 5 PC Makers In Europe

According to a recent report by research firm Garnter, Apple is now in the top five  PC makers in Europe, sitting at number five, and making up 6.6 percent of all PC sales in western Europe in quarter one of 2011.

According to the report, Apple sold 966,000 units for the quarter, and increase of 10 percent over the past year, whilst the other PC manufacturers in the top 5 lost up to 29 percent on their sales on the previous year.

Ace Convict has transformed the desktop of his MacBook Pro in to a iPad replica, even by disguising Finder as Safari and the Trash as the iOS App Store. The transformation has been created for fun rather than practicality and the apps on the desktop are aliases and a small terminal script was written to remove the small black arrows in the bottom corner of the icons.

metalliCover iPhone 4 Stainless Steel Cases

We have featured quite a few different cases for the iPhone 4 here at Geeky Gadgets, the latest one is called the metalliCover, and it is a range of stainless steel covers for the iPhone 4.

According to the manufacturers, the metalliCover is the thinnest and lightest iPhone 4 metal shield, and the stainless steel plates which can be stuck onto the back and front of your iPhone measure just 0.5mm thick and weigh in at just 20g.

First Chrome OS Desktop Computer Unveiled By Xi3 Corporation

Xi3 Corporation has unveiled their ChromiumPC Modular Computer, the world’s first desktop computer designed to run Google’s Chrome operating system. The new ChromiumPC Modular Computer is a version of the company's Xi3 Modular Computer which was first formally unveiled by the By Xi3 Corporation back in 2010.

Each Xi3 Modular Computer, including the ChromiumPC, is housed in an aluminium chassis that holds three small but interconnected boards (or modules) and will be powered by a dual- or single-core 64-bit, x86-based processor.

Dell’s Ultra Thin XPS 15z Notebook Coming Tomorrow?

We have already seen some leaked photos of Dell’s new ultra thin Dell XPS 15z notebook, which Dell are hoping will be able to take on Apple’s MacBook Pro, and now it looks like it could finally get official, with tomorrow, Tuesday the 24th of May tipped as the official launch date.

The Dell XPS 15z is expected to feature a 15 inch LCD display, plus Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge processors, and there are rumors that the starting price will be around $999, which would put it in direct competition with the MacBook Pro.

Hyperkin PS3 Remotext Combines Remote, Keyboard And Controller

This week Hyperkin have unveiled their new PS3 Remotext device which combines a full QWERTY keypad and DVD-Blu-ray control together with Playstation style buttons and thumb pads.

The new Remotext has been designed to enables you to text other players on the Playstation Network, or use its dual analog sticks and buttons to navigate PS3 games, but unfortunately its not equipped with rear triggers or Bluetooth connectivity.

Asus Previews New Tablet

AT&T HTC Holiday Android Smartphone Leaked

It looks like HTC has another new Android device planned for AT&T, the HTC Holiday, which is reported to feature a 4.5 inch qHD display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, and a dual core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor.

Other specifications include 1GB of RAM, two cameras with an 8 megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front, and it looks like it may come with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.

New Apple Store App Allows You To Custom-Configure Your Next Mac

Apple has just released a new application for its Apple Store which now allows you to configure your dream Mac machine on the move, directly from your mobile Apple device to work in conjunction with its new Apple Stor2 2.0.

The new Apple Store version 1.3 now brings with it the ability to order from outside the United States, and within the UK now shows the prices in sterling rather than dollars which it used to. The new Apple Store App allows you to configure every detail of a new machine, adding extra memory, SSD drives and more just as if you were on the Apple Store website.

DIY Lego iPhone 4 Camera

We have featured quite a few different cameras and gadgets made from Lego here at Geeky Gadgets, the latest one uses an iPhone 4 and some Lego to create a cool iPhone 4 Lego camera.

The iPhone 4 Lego camera was created by Mike Kim, and Mike decided to build his Lego camera around his iPhone 4, creating a form factor similar to a traditional camera, and he even added in a fake lens, viewfinder and a fake shutter release.

iPhone 5 To Feature Curved Glass Display?

We have been hearing a number of rumors about the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5, and the latest one comes from Digitimes, who are reporting that the iPhone 5 will feature a curved glass display.

According to the report, Apple has invested in come glass cutting machines, which would be needed to produce a curved glass display for the new iPhone 5.

Muppets Decked Out As X Men In Jim Henson Tribute

Playfully dubbed the X-Muppets, the graphic below is a work of tribute art by this Razzah fellow to commemorate Jim Henson’s passing. The Muppet Master died exactly 21 years ago and continues to be missed. The world of cinema and children’s entertainment was left  a lot poorer when he left us. Who knows what kind of awesome movies and characters he would still have created if he only lived a little longer? Anyway, just feast the eyes on the pic below.

Shell Has A Huge Plan For The Future

Really huge. As in the largest floating vessel on Earth and in all history. To cut costs and be more efficient in its operations, Shell are building a huge floating rig off the coast of Australia to tap into Down Under’s massive LNG reserves. Dubbed the Prelude FLNG (Floating Liquid Natural Gas), the ambitious plan is a first in the energy industry and may indicate that future economies will still have a huge appetite for traditional sources.

Google Blocking Android Market Movie Rentals On Rooted Devices

The Motorola Xoom running Android 3.1 is the only device that has access to Google’s new Android Market movie rental service at the moment, and it seems that Google is blocking access to the movie rentals on rooted devices.

According to the guys over at Android Central, if you try to rent a movie on a rooted Android device you will get the message ‘Failed to fetch license for [movie title] (error 49)‘, and a Google support document has revealed that this message means your device has been blocked from accessing the movie rentals.

Apple Store 2.0 Launches With Apple’s 10th Anniversary

We heard last week that Apple may have something new planned for its Apple Store’s to make their 10th anniversary, and the have now launched Apple Store 2.0, which basically means all the paper displays next to products have now been replaced by iPad 2′s.

The iPad 2′s are used to display information about each product, and they can even be used to call one of the Apple retail staff over to give you some help.
