Duke Nukem Forever is the sequel to the 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D. After only 15 years in the making by a handful of different developers 2K Games now looks close to actually releasing a finished version. The new and highly anticipated Duke Nukem Forever is expected to launch on June 14, with a demo coming on June 3 for pre-order customers and those who bought the Game of the Year Edition of Borderlands.

Tactical Sammiches Is Fallout Food For The Post-Apocalypse

Posted: 24 May 2011 08:45 AM PDT

That’s no typo. They really are called ‘Sammiches’ and are being mass produced by CMMG, a wonderful little company that builds assault rifles. True to the survivalist ethos that no doubt influenced this insta-food, the Sammiches have a two year shelf life and contain just 300 calories. Meaning it’s food best eaten in an environment similar to Fallout 3.

The Sammiches are available in several meat flavors and come wrapped in a chewy bread bun. Imagine a more rugged form of burrito to get a good idea of what to expect.

Tardigrades Are The Most Awesome Living Creatures Anywhere

Posted: 24 May 2011 08:37 AM PDT

For good reason—they can survive in outer space. While us humans, when not confined inside protective cocoons, would suffer agonizing torture and eventual death in the pitch blackness beyond, the Tardigrades can endure no matter the ice cold temperature or solar radiation . Don’t expect to find Tardigrades in your local pet store though. Tardigrades, also known as water bears for their resemblance to the ursine breed, are microscopic organisms that thrive in moist environments. Very much like bacteria, Tardigrades are pretty ubiquitous.

Posted: 24 May 2011 07:34 AM PDT

A neat infographic has been created showing details of the 500,000 or so apps that Apple has approved to its iTunes App Store. The 500,000 figures includes all the app Apple have ever approved and does not reflect the amount that are currently listed in the Apple App Store. This is due to applications being removed by Apple and superseded by improved and updated versions.

The informative infographic has been created by three app development companies, game-maker Chillingo, app search engine Chomp and app blog 148apps. It show how the App Store has developed since its inception back three years ago, in July 2008. Enjoy!

It’s hard to put into words just how stoked we were when the trailer for Modern Wafare 2 hit. Even if it turned out to be a bit of a tangled mess in the plot department, it had heart. Plus, we were just coming off the first Modern Warfare, which to this day is probably only matched by Bioshock in creating narrative exclusively using gameplay. Modern Warfare 3 looks… bigger. Certainly explodier. And better-traveled. But it’s a lot more generic too.
